Agreed value of LE

Agreed value of LE - 07/05/2016 16:40

Hi guys, just a quick question, what should the agreed value be for a 1999 LE in very good mechanical and cosmetic condition?

Best to speak to a specialist as they can also ratify the cost with the insurer. Depends upon mileage and overall condition as to what is decided but I would imagine 10K + for a better one and more for a low mileage perfect car like Clint's

The insurance company will want either an engineers report and estimated value, several photos of the odometer, interior, exterior, wheels, engine bay etc etc, receipts, service history and any other info you can provide if not all of the forementioned documents. The insurance company then send all the info to a panel or specialists and they either accept your proposal or return what they think the agreed valuation should be. Mine is currently covered for 15k but that will increase once the current refurb is complete and I submit the receipts, more photos and engineers report.....probably closer to 20k as the car will owe me around 24K once complete.

I used Lancaster insurance and I also have the buy back option and am covered for 5000 mile per year (a little over stated but would rather be covered if I did step outwith the stated mileage), European cover and additional named driver. I paid around 240 fully comp but the coupe must be a second car (you must be insured on a daily driver in addition). Hope that helps!

really depends on the mileage, history and condition. 15k upwards really does need to be in concourse condition

Cheers guys. I think mines maybe valued too low then at 5K as I just put down what I paid for it back in 2006 and didn't really think about it since.

I didn't think LE values had gone up much until I saw a few recent adverts on the forum and sales on ebay of 7K-8K and over. So now I'm thinking I should get it adjusted. I'm with Adrian Flux and already sent in all the photos etc.

The car has done 86000 miles, pretty much FSH, 4 previous owners. I've kept up with the maintenance since I've owned it including: new turbo, radiator, manifold, oil cooler pipes, break lines, clutch, recent belt change & full respray. Just had a full service last week at Rogers and no issues reported so I'm thinking underside is OK. Probably get a stage 1 remap soon just to give her a bit more power.

So maybe I should get a valuation from Roger and present this to Adrian Flux?

Just reviving this as I've just renewed my policy and moved to AA as they were the cheapest quote on one of those comparison sites. I called them up though as they did not have the LE specifically listed? I know the databases go off whats on your V5 but they could only cover it with it listed as a late 6-speed car? Anyone else experienced this?

Re: Agreed value of LE - 31/01/2017 13:43

My White Plus was down as a 20V on the V5C, but when checking insurance, I entered the details manually, and a Plus was one of the options, but typically an LE is not shown as an option on the insurance comparison sites.

I think there are a few LEs shown on their V5C as mere 20v turbos...

I just paid FCA UK to provide me with a letter to verify the correct details for my Plus, they may be able to help, and may not charge if it was a UK registered car from new (and the supplying dealer made a mistake).

Nice one Dave - who did you write to for that? I know this is the case for quite a few LE's.........

Got agreed value of £7000 for my plus if that helps your valuation.

Re: Agreed value of LE - 31/01/2017 21:05

I think the issue is more what model type the DVLA have on the registration documents as many insurers rely on what is written there, accurate or not.

The more enlightened ones listen to what the various specialist car clubs know.

The DVLA, when dealing with historic taxation class vehicles, may take advice from some owners' clubs when they hold production records, MGOC springs to mind for example.
