Just wondering if a new exhaust (stainless steel) would have to be announced... nothing flashy or noisy.. totally normal?

Technically if it's not a standard Fiat one then, yes, you'd have to declare it.

In practise it would unusual to not bother if it wasn't liberating any more power (or noise) than the original.

I think the correct grammer would be,

In theory one would not bother to inform an insurer if it does'nt release more power or make more noise than standard.
Really you should tell them you have had to get a NON-OE exhaust but that it does not increase power or noise.

Most people would however run the gauntlet with it as if its near enough OE spec then an assesoer come crash time would barely notice unless it was something like a 2.5" or above system as long as they knew it was a recent replacement item

My experience is that it does not make a bit of difference. I would therefore tell them.

Put it this way, are they more likely to be accommodating when:

a) They want your business; or
b) They want to weasel out of paying anything.

And KP - it's "grammar"

the attitude of insurers is..

1. If it gives more power tell us.
2. If it costs more or makes it more nickable tell us.
as the above increase the risk.

If its a copy of the original factory part, then its a 'Pattern part' and in theory you dont need to disclose it. but in practice to stop any possible future arguments delclare it. they should not load the policy for a pattern item
