Re: quote in my name....... - 13/03/2006 18:55

Craig, you not thought about direct line? Get your dad to insure it again and stick you as a named driver, this way you get to build up on your NCB, you would also be very silly to get the car insured when you know you have mods on it and have mentioned them on this forum and even plastered on an exhaust manufacturer's website

Re: quote in my name....... - 13/03/2006 19:00

that was a joke begbie, all the mods where declared,
I'll try direct line now thanks!

Re: quote in my name....... - 13/03/2006 19:19

It's worth phoning 'em Craig. Good rates for old geezers (I'm with 'em) and yep you'll get to build up yr own no claims. You should have full NCB by the time you're old enough to get it in your own name at reasonble cost.

Re: quote in my name....... - 13/03/2006 19:33

I'd try Noel Dazely, only quoted me 10% more for mods.

You do know, don't you, that you can't insure the car this way if it's yours.

Re: quote in my name....... - 23/03/2006 18:19

the v5 is in my dads name, he is the registerd keeper.

Re: quote in my name....... - 23/03/2006 18:37

When I was 19 I was quoted 7K on a mark 2 golf GTI, I managed to find someone that would quote me £1500 in the end.

The Coupe is a group 19/20 car as standard - most insurers will just not bother to quote a 19yr old.

I'd keep the car in your dad's name with you as a driver until you'r 25. If you want to build up a no claims then buy and insure an old banger for a couple of hundred quid after you'r 21 when it'll be cheaper to insure, then get the coop put in your name in six years if you still have it!

It doesn't matter who the registered keeper is - who is the owner and principle user of the vehicle?

Re: quote in my name....... - 24/03/2006 19:39

I know it's fronting andrew, but it is the olny way i get to enjoy my car, it's not as if i'm a bad driver or even a careless driver. would you brgrudge that of someone? it's not as, if i had a bump i wouldn't be covered by the insurance would it?
Posted By: AndrewR

Re: quote in my name....... - 24/03/2006 20:40

If you had a serious bump then you might well find the insurance company investigating you quite thoroughly, they're well used to fronting scams.

I'm sorry, but my view is that if you can't afford to insure your car legally then you should buy a different car.

Re: quote in my name....... - 18/05/2006 20:00

Craig, you only need to insure the Coupe, not the trainers and the diamond ear studs too......

Re: quote in my name....... - 18/05/2006 20:43

flog the coupe. bank the 4K insurance and the coupe money and think what coupe you'd be able to buy in a years time!
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: quote in my name....... - 18/05/2006 20:46

i can't part with the coop, it means so much to me, it is a part of me........so selling is not an option
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: quote in my name....... - 18/05/2006 20:47

Honestly - I'd forget putting it in your name until you'r 25 mate! If you want to build no claims until then get a £500 quid banger and put that in your name!

Re: quote in my name....... - 18/05/2006 20:58

tried that......but still got silly quotes....

i'm gonna run away to the middle of nowhere and set up camp there me thinks!!!

Re: quote in my name....... - 18/05/2006 21:07

Craig I wonder how much is down to your location rather than age and inexperience? I mean is it a lot less to insure a more sensible car?
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: quote in my name....... - 18/05/2006 21:09

When i was your age I got a £7000 quote on a MK2 golf GTI....cheapest I could get was £1500 - and that was on a group 15 car. Back then I found most places would simply refuse to insure a 19 year old on a group 19/20 car... On reflection (and I'm going to sound like a really old git here) that was probably a good thing!
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: quote in my name....... - 18/05/2006 21:11

When I was his age they only had 6 groups, but I still managed to get insured reasonably cheaply on top group cars, which is why I wonder about his location. Liverpool, gotta be high risk no?
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: quote in my name....... - 28/07/2006 23:50

liverpool is a really high risk, and why i mention to isurance companys that i know all the lads who rob the cars, so i should be ok, they don't seem to be overly impressed.....

it is down to location (i hope) i got a quote on my aunties n reg 1.0 shitoren ax and that was £2500
