Fiat Bravo 1.9mjet gearbox issues - 12/06/2016 13:47
Over the past year my 5 spd gearbox has got progressively worse, notchy, and has now started to klunk into gear.
Is it time for a new box?
Have I caught it in time for a refurb?
Has anyone experienced this? after 160,000 the car is serving me well, but would it be cheaper in the long run to PX it in?

I note that my 6-speed box (on a Bravo 1.9 150 Mjet) is not as slick as once it was, but it's 175k miles old. That said, I don't stress it if I can avoid it; the ratios in the bottom two gears are so unsuited to actually driving that I tend to get past them as soon as I can.
A recent oil change has helped a little, but it's a pain of a job!

Could be dragging. If you change the clutch, change the dual mass flywheel too... and there's a concentric release bearing and slave cylinder while you're in there.

Have a look at the gearbox oil. It's a cheap job. If your gearbox is shot it'll show in the oil.

thanks guys. the guy at my local garage is nice chap, used him for a couple of things. he said it may be the diaphragm in the clutch going. I'll relay your info too. cheers.
