Hyundai Tucson remap recommendations - 20/11/2019 00:34

Hi everybody!

Does anybody have experience/recommendation in relation to remap chips e.g Racechip, Celtic Tuning, Quantum etc.

My wife has a 2016 Tucson 1.7 Crdi with 114bhp and I would like to use it to tow the caravan in 2020. I currently use my Hyundai i40 which has circa 140bhp, so a remap of the Tucson to around 140bhp would be sufficient for my needs.

Prices vary (£199 to £450+) as do sellers claims (139bhp to 180bhp). Reviews are also varied. I'm not looking to rag the life out of the engine. It should be good for 140bhp as Hyundai already do the Tuscon 1.7crdi with 141bhp.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Daithi

Daithi,

I do remapping using Viezu maps. They are tried and tested and reliable - as well as being insured. If you put in the vehicle details on the website https://viezu.com/, it shows an increase of 35bhp and 70Nm of torque for a price of £324+VAT. That gets you slightly over your 140bhp target.

You may be able to find an installer near to you who will charge less than the head office price (we don't add VAT, for instance).

There are obviously other map suppliers out there, some offering what appears to be more for less, but we chose Viezu because they have a decent track record (they mapped 24,000 vans for BT).

Hope this helps
