GTV Ph2 TS - 03/08/2020 11:23

Given they are from the same era and share quite a bit of the same DNA, now that I own both figured I would post a bit about the GTV I own alongside the Coupe project I am undertaking, especially given I've just had a fair bit done and the stuff I plan to do on the Coupe is likely going to be very similar to this.

I only got it late last year from my Italian Specialist, so luckily didn't have to deal with any mechanical stuff as it was already in nice state there, which meant I was able to get on with the juicy personalising. Was a nice spec, Proteo Red which seems very similar to the Coupe's wine red metallic, already had the Zender/Cup rear wing, black leather, 17 teledials and also had a custom sport cat made along with a stainless exhaust system replicating and replacing the original (I'll be getting a Wizard exhaust system at some point as I love the sound of them).

So far I have had done:

-White/cream leather seats fitted
-Dash fascia panels painted metallic black with chrome rings added, Pioneer DAB stereo in matching black fitted and blended in
-Wheel spacers subtly added so they are nice with the arches but not over the top
-KW Lowering V1 Kit (Front coilovers, rear 30mm lowering springs - will likely get the same equivalent kit for the Coupe)
-Big brake caliper conversion from a 166 plus 330mm discs (discs are matching grooved front and back)
-Calipers painted Brembo yellow with Alfa decals in black
-17 GTA wheels fitted (they were originally from my 147 GTA however I have got 18 Cloverleaf on that now)
-Full genuine Cup kit fitted

I have got more planned but for now I am happy enough to not need to rush into anything else right away. I do have a few small power mods planned, it's quite fun to drive as it is and does put the power it has down well. I know the V6 is great however in this car I do think the lighter smaller engine suits it just as well just a different flavour, it's great in the corners. The TS is a pretty underrated engine, lots of them have been ran into the ground or into a bad state which might be why some experiences have been bad with it, I think if you get a good one then it's completely different.

One of these days it would be nice to get a shot of both the Coupe and GTV together.

There are quite a few of us who have gone down the same road having both the coop and the GTV so you'll find a number of threads on the subject. I went from the 16vt to the V6 and eventually back to the coop. Both great but the coop is easier to live with; decent boot, rear seats and fuel consumption, the V6 makes the coop seem 'sensible'!

Beautiful GTV. A nice combination of a classy colour with the aggressive Cup kit! cool thumb

I think if you made the mesh on the side panels a bit darker, along with the GTA wheels, it would perfectly enhance the overall look of the car. cool Of course, just my opinion.

Thanks, things could have gone differently if I hadn't got a 147 GTA and a GT 3.2 before it, who knows if things went different I may have got the GTV with the V6, although again I have no regrets about this one (although it's battery has just given up the ghost but things happen).

The Coupe definitely is more sensible and for the sort of car it is surprisingly practical, I'll probably never use it for practicality but at least it's there as who knows I might need it for something like that on the odd day. Both unique and different in their own way, will be interesting to see them side by side when the Coupe is done up.

To be honest I like the lighter wheels and silver mesh against the darker red, I can see why people have a liking to it being the darker style though. I have a Giulietta Cloverleaf as my main car which is the standard brighter Alfa red and I have metallic dark grey wheels on that with dark door handles and it does work.
