Dualogic or Sillyspeed experts?

Dualogic or Sillyspeed experts? - 21/04/2021 09:29

The trusty 500 Lounge seems to have sprung a leak on the hydraulic system that runs the Dualogic robotised gear shifting. Iím needing to put it into the hands of my local Fiat dealer - who tried to sell me a £50 engine flush before even listening to what the problem was and then was keen to point out I was in for a minimum of £120 just to look at it.

Anybody aware of any specialists in this system? I canít currently see where the leak is but the reservoir was empty and topping it up has had a week of trouble-free running until today. Itís a really awkward place in the bowels on the engine compartment.

I could just let Fiat have a go but last time they wanted to charge me £300 for the wrong part and it took nearly 3 months to resolve. Hopefully the dealerships are now more experienced.

I don't know the system but I assume it uses AT fluid and so it would be simple enough for any garage to fix a leaking pipe or joint..... So long as you can find / access it.

It uses a particular hydraulic fluid with various solenoids etc. I contacted the local Fiat 500 specialist who said itís a main dealer job.

Iíve found a guy in Stoke who does a full recon for £450 - might be my best bet as £450 wonít get me much at a Fiat dealer.

Motormech have plenty of experience with Selespeed boxes - in fact the local Fiat dealer used to send Selespeed jobs to Motormech as they didn't like doing them....

I had a 156 selespeed years ago. I had to replace the electric pump.
The system should have the clutch rod adjusted and system calibrated every year on. I always used fiat selespeed oil
Did have a leaking pipe once and had to replace clutch

Iíve dropped it at CD Motors in Stoke - Carl there seems to have cornered the market in Dualogic overhauls - he looks to have a never-ending stream of them and a workshop seemingly dedicated to the job. Iím feeling pretty confident but Iíll report back in case itís ever useful to anybody else.
