Fantasy Euro 2008 Football - 01/06/2008 21:24

Open invite to everyone interested in joining a mini-league for the forthcoming Euro 2008 tournament that I have created. \:\) Teams can be entered with unlimited changes up until the 7th June. At least it will keep us interested in the games seeing that none of the home nations will be involved (possibly some of our international fccukers will be!). ;\)

Click here to register for Fantasy Euro 2008

FCCUK — Code to join this league: 53062-9980

Based on the FCCUK Premier league fantasy game that was run recently, this could be quite a competitive league! There are prizes for the best teams overall (not for this mini-league though - unless someone's feeling generous! \:P ) Good luck everyone!!

I'll be doing this later today. Need to read the rules though. Just tried to enter a team made solely of Italian defenders, German midfielders and Portugese/Spanish attackers. Apparently that's cheating!

I think Delia Smith says it all for us here:

How come you get named first? Not fair!

I don't really understand the transfers either.

Yes mate - as long as you are in this particular Fantasy league, (I am assuming that you are!) then I would think that you can join this league by using the code on page 1 of this thread. I'm pretty sure any latecomers can still join even though the competition has already begun - but they would have to be very lucky/tactical genii to have any chance of winning the tournament! \:P

Re: Fantasy Euro 2008 Football - 09/06/2008 09:36

Am I reading it right that your changes to captains etc only happen on what they are calling "Matchdays" - next one being 11 June?

unless you use your "wildcard"

Re: Fantasy Euro 2008 Football - 10/06/2008 18:35

Villa or Torres....?

Villa or Torres....?

so I go and choose Torres!

Re: Fantasy Euro 2008 Football - 10/06/2008 19:01

I have torres as well, but fabregas is my captain, I was jumping up and down when he scored \:D

me too. But I also went through:
Gomez or Podolski
Podolski or Gomez

and went for Gomez. Der.

and I've even got Pavlyuchenko as a sub but didn't put him into action. I've blown it already, methinks.

Re: Fantasy Euro 2008 Football - 10/06/2008 19:56

I chose Torres over Villa as well. Infuriating!

I'm hoping my shrewd transfer skills will serve me much better in round 2.

Copied from the rules:

Captains

You must nominate a member of your team to be captain. This player will score double the number of points they would usually have been awarded that Matchday.
If your captain does not play then the bonus will be lost. Another player will not take over the captaincy in their place.

Transfers

Use the Transfers page to change your squad for the next Matchday. The number of transfers which can be made are as follows:
Next Matchday Deadline Transfers
Group Stage 1 7 Jun 18:00 CET Unlimited
Group Stage 2 11 Jun 18:00 CET 4
Group Stage 3 15 Jun 20:45 CET 4
Quarter-finals 19 Jun 20:45 CET Unlimited
Semi-finals 25 Jun 20:45 CET Unlimited
Final 29 Jun 20:45 CET Unlimited

The total value of your group stage squad must not exceed 100 million Euros. For the knock-out stage the team budget will be increased 110 million Euros.

Transfers will not deduct points from your total.

If you enter after the start of the first Matchday, you can make unlimited transfers before the next Matchday.

Wild card

If you need to bring in a new player in the current Matchday for tactical or injury reasons, use the wild card.
Once a Matchday is under way you can use a wild card on your latest points page to temporarily replace, for the current Matchday only, one player in your team with a new player.
Both players involved in your wild card must:
Have not played (their team's games haven't started)
Be the same position
Keep your squad under the players per team limit
In addition, the value of the new player can't be more than the existing player.
If a player replaces your captain, the new player will be captain. If a player replaces your substitute, the new player will be a substitute.
Remember, the wild card is a temporary change and can only be used once per Matchday. The original player will still be in your team for the next Matchday. To make the change permanent for the next Matchday you need to make a transfer.

DON'T FORGET TO MAKE YOUR NEXT TRANSFERS BY TODAY'S DEADLINE! ;\)

Re: Fantasy Euro 2008 Football - 11/06/2008 10:09

yeah I think I need some decent defenders, my entire defence only earned 1 point \:D

sacrificing ronaldo will buy me a whole new defence!

You're not far off. For the same price as him you could have had the Croatian goalie (highest scoring goalie in stage 1) and Pepe (highest scoring defender in stage 1)!

I took him out of my team yesterday and swapped him for Deco, luckily Deco scored and set one up today.

It's all down to luck really (unless of course I go back on top, then it's totally down to skill)!

No way offside \:mad\:

that incorrect decision cost me 6 points, an assist from my captain °\(

I think I need to pay more attention to this \:D

\:D yeah that wasn't my greatest play...but Robben just got a few \:\)

Re: Fantasy Euro 2008 Football - 14/06/2008 00:53

That's more like it! Had a pretty good second stage, hopefully get a few more points tomorrow.

Then comes the difficult decision of who to drop and who I put in for the final group leg.
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Fantasy Euro 2008 Football - 14/06/2008 02:41

I knew my second stage would be awful, I would have wiped the slate clean and subbed everyone after my excellent first stage if I could \:\(

Gotta work out who I want to keep for the 3rd...

Dont forget your transfers people

Re: Fantasy Euro 2008 Football - 19/06/2008 23:47

Didn't work out quite as I planned but not a bad day at the office. Expected Portugal's stars to get a few more, only put Gomez in at the last minute!

I had a terrible 3rd group stage, didn't anticipate all the big teams putting out their reserves at all!

Re: Fantasy Euro 2008 Football - 20/06/2008 00:25

Webbo has 8.5x more matchday points than me so far and half of his players got knocked out in the group stage \:D

Toni owes me bigtime for all those misses the other day \:\/

Re: Fantasy Euro 2008 Football - 20/06/2008 08:52

I haven't looked at it for a while. and now I have.
and I appear to be top \:P

don't know how that happened

\:D Great team name!

As we are level on points and there's no way I'm going to catch MattW, my new goal is to beat you in the last 2 games.

A respectable 3rd place, does that mean I qualify for Europe? \:\)

Congrats to MattW on a fine win, consistent throughout and I think it was won and lost in the group stages.
