11+ exam

11+ exam - 30/06/2008 11:23

Did get them all right, but I couldn't understand the second question (worked it out by eliminating the unlikely/probable trick answers rather than being able to follow the question).

Not sure at 11 I would have been canny enough to work out the first question the easy way.

7 out of 8, still don't get the odd number out question!

Re: 11+ exam - 30/06/2008 14:03

2nd question is really unclear. They mean 7 pillars of bricks, with the smallest having 9, the next one along having 10, the next having 11... and so on. That's probably even more unclear than they explained it!

Grammar school for me \:\) Just as well since I went to one ("direct grant" actually) but I really struggled with the last one

Odd one out is 23, sequence should be

1 (+8) 9 (+7) 16 (+6) 22 (+5) 27 (+4) 31 (+3) 34

ie: 22 instead of 23

I couldn't understand how you could have a problem with question 2. It was clear.

I got to Grammar school again, but for the life of me I can't imagine I thought that carefully the first time around!

[Cautionary note: I need to remind you all that I am probably the only member of the forum who attended Vicky Pollard's school - Cotham. I insist that it was better in those days.]

Re: 11+ exam - 30/06/2008 23:19

8/8,thought the second question was easy, start with 9 then add 6 numbers each one higher than the previous one i.e. 10,11,12,13,14,15.must admit that for an eleven year old some of those may have been problematic.can someoen fint the 7+ one \:D

Must admit, when I first saw the questions I thought they must be today's A-level maths exam.

Re: 11+ exam - 01/07/2008 12:42

7/8. I did have to think about the first question for longer than I expected, slipped up on the sequence question. (I was going to say I'm pretty happy about that until I remebered it was an 11+ \:o )

8/8

...and I went to a scummy school for common people!

Anyone going to post their scarecrow story?

Mine started, "There I was, minding my own business, when along comes this Dorothy girl with a stupid little dog..."

Grammar school for me - 8/8 - though I have to admit I refused to go to grammar school even though offered a scholarship - I didn't want to go to school Saturday morning.

But instead I ended up going to the local Comprehensive without even sitting the test; apparently I was 'top of the school' and with one other we sat it out while the next four kids took it. If any of them passed (they all did) we got a bye \:\)

Ah, Saturday morning school, those were the days \:\( complete with shorts and caps (constantly being lost) but one consolation was slightly longer holidays \:\)
