Satellite connections are normally made using screw in "F" type plugs whereas analogue/digital TV connections are via push in "co-ax" plugs. Have a look on here to see if the wall points look familiar http://www.satcure.co.uk/accs/wall_plates.htm

Is there an external aerial on the side of the house/chimney? Pointing in the same direction as your neighbours? Or a satellite dish somewhere (should be pointing approx south). Either are usually pretty easy to spot, especially in daylight wink laugh

Guess you'll have to try a follow the aerial cable back to work out where it goes. Have you found a satellite dish? If sow how many cable are coming from the receiver bit? 1 or 2 or more? Or maybe you have cable? Are you ony picking up the "free" satellite channels?

Thanks can't find satellite dish but as that is working not worried about that.Have four coaxial cables coming into the room with the labgear cablevision box in one I presume is suppose to be the Ariel in,(?) and three that are suppose to feed the other rooms. The labgear has an LED in that doesn't light up.Tried all the wires to get a signal but can't with the labgear box removed.Any help appreciated.

It could be that one cable is meant to go the sky box, and then from the sky box via an RF signal to the labgear box for distribution to other rooms in the house, possibly using the magic eye thingummies. (But I'm no Sky expert, I can't bear to support the Murdoch empire)

Does the labgear box have any power supply lead which you could trace back? The LED might only light up when a signal is being sent to it. Is there a model number or any other ID on the labgear box? Any labels on the various connectors

Unless the previous owner deliberately set out to muck it all up, I suspect it was all left working, and it's just a matter of connecting stuff up properly. Is it all still connected up as it was originally or have you pulled it all apart? Can you not just ask the previous owner?

Usual setup will be for the satellite and aerial signals to be fed into the Labgear box then into the main room. It may be that there are 2 satellite points for Sky+ and the others would be TV and return. The return would be used to feed back signal back to the bedrooms etc. This feed can be taken from splitting the incoming TV signal back or from RF2 of the Sky box (needs to be activated in the installer menu).
