The FCCUK Forum Photography Thread - 16/10/2020 11:44

I know there are lots of talented photographers on here.

Please post your best photographs. It can be any subject. Any style. Taken on film camera, digital camera or smartphone camera, whatever.

And if there's loads of participation, maybe we could have subject/style/camera type specific contests in the future too?

Amazing what you can do with a mobial phone now.
I have been trying to make an effort to get out and take some photos, if nothing else for a walk.

This amused me, on holiday in Madeira Mrs Ed was taking a picture of a reconstructed galleon and didn't realise till the evening she'd been photo-bombed laugh

A few old ones , I don't think I ever took as good a pic with any digital camera as I used to get from my old 90's Fuji film camera.

Hehe, the only one not taken locally. smile That one was taken from the ferry leaving Harwich for the Hook of Holland. Or possibly from the ferry leaving Newcastle for Ijmuiden. Done each one so many times I can't remember now. rolleyes

<edit> Actually Harwich to Hook left in the morning and arrived late afternoon whereas Newcastle to Ijmuiden left in the evening and arrived the next morning, so the pic is almost certainly leaving Newcastle.

A mate from work gave me an old telescope a few months ago. I took this shot with my iphone up against the eye piece. A pita trying to keep the phone lined up, everything focused and track the movement of the moon to keep it in view.

Just because I'm a luddite: taken with a seventy year old camera on 4x5 film. Had to shrink this like mad to get it onto the uploader; the original scan is around 12,000 by 9,000 and these days I can scan at much higher resolutions: about 40,000 by 50,000 for an equivalent of 8 gigapixels smile

Excellent photos everyone!

Really interesting to see such a wide range!

Neil, have you ever done any car photography with that camera? I imagine the results would be very interesting!

I reckon a Coop against this kind of background, taken with that camera, would be really striking!

Re: The FCCUK Forum Photography Thread - 19/10/2020 13:54

@JKD - the large format camera has its uses for car photography but generally you need longer lenses than I have so you can shoot from further away and reduce the distortion - probably a 1000-2000mm range. Which makes the camera just a bit unwieldy...

Also, the lenses I do have show every speck of dust, every dent, every ripple smile

This needs rescanning on my more recent scanner and balancing: http://nailed-barnacle.co.uk/bigimages/0029.jpeg

What am I doing wrong?....

I want to link to images on my Flickr account, using IMGPOP - any image I post is simply blank

I don't really want to have to reduce the images to 2MB to use the attached images function

A direct link.... Bamburgh Golden Hour

You were correct the first time... it was the showcase and believe it or not it was 2002. My 16vt looked like it had a shine that just came off the production line of course it later turned pink. Going by the dress code it was winter.

the Gtv was Francos if you remember he also owned a coupe.

Re: The FCCUK Forum Photography Thread - 22/10/2020 07:05

bloody hell 2002 ...Wow.......Franco ? ,that wouldn't be Franco Fort would it ?(from Airdrie )

I've just been sent pictures of Franco Forts 2000 Bertone which he is turning into a Full GTAm replica ....looks immense

and Graham they guy who sent them to me was Stephen Scot !!! said you grew up together and his folks face your house (mother is Italian)

he said I should join the Fccuk and try and meet up with a guy called Graham Laing........ I said err probably 18/19 yers too late ...he couldn't believe it laugh

Re: The FCCUK Forum Photography Thread - 22/10/2020 08:50

It's to be commended you've owned the same coupé so long.

It is indeed Forti. That GTA rep really is a credit to Franco's great work and attention to detail.

A good friend of mine Mark (aka 'Cake' from the old forum) who also owned a red 16vt and then yellow 20vt coupes at the time and is also in those photos is close friends of Franco. So I get an update of it every now and then but yes as you say it's immense.

Interesting so you grew up with Franco then?

Re: The FCCUK Forum Photography Thread - 22/10/2020 12:56

Hi Rosso , No never grew up with him sorry , I think I have only met him that once, it was another friend on mine Stephen Scot who is an Alfa enthusiast who sent me photos of the GTA rep he is doing , and saying he was doing a Scalino next, and I kept thinking I know the name Franco Forti
your photo of the meeting back in 2002 and ....when you said Franco's GTV ,my brain finally clicked yipee
