How to remove a ground anchor - 17/04/2021 08:55
After a bumpy ride, we completed on our house yesterday.
One of the things we want to do is to build a shed/office in the garden, but the space is currently occupied by another, smaller shed that we want to move from its concrete base to another part of the garden. We hoped to slide/manhandle the shed along the paving (it's ony about 6ftx6ft, but there's a snag:
The previous occupant has fitted a ground anchor through the floor of the shed, into the concrete base to secure his motorbike. The shed definitely predates the anchor.
It looks like a simple eye atop a flat plate about 5" square, but I can't see how it's secured. There are no obvious screws/bolts/fixings around the plate, but they might be hidden by thick yellow paint. I can't see how it would have been concreted in, because the plate sits on the shed floor so the hole cut for it can't be very big.
I'm expecting to have to grind it off, but wondered if there were any tips from the Forum Brains' Trust.

Couldn’t be the spiral type, could it, Jim? Try a big bar through the eye and “unwind”?

I've a feeling they're meant to stay put Jim, and if your could unscrew them they wouldn't be doing their job!
You're probably looking at a jackhammer if it's set in concrete....

A closer inspection today indicates that it may unscrew. I was thinking like you, Simon, but I suppose the logic is that once a motorbike is attached, it'll be pretty tough to undo!
Will give it a go tomorrow with a long bar...

That was my thinking, Jim. That’s how a lot of locking solutions work - it’s only secure when “locked”
Fingers crossed for you

My main concern is that the nut will have seized and will spin when the eye is turned. Leaving Plan B - the grinder...

If not video, at least photographic progress evidence required!

Or maybe time lapse video?

Well, luckily, no need for that Pandora's box to be opened.
Turns out, our predecessor was a bit of a bodger! He had ground off the base of the anchor bolt and just stuck it in the hole in the shed floor with epoxy. Bit like a fake burglar alarm!

The Albert, R.N. of bike locks....
I'm disappointed though not to witness a multi-lingual howto in ultra HD

...though it would have been fun to see J_C headbutt the shed wall as he leaned into a large metal bar only for the epoxy to suddenly give
Glad it was a non-problem, Jim

Probably a better result than a 'how do I stick a finger/foot/leg back on' post, though.
