Brake pads / upgrades for 16V N/A - 18/02/2014 22:30

Hi guys,
Just purchased a '96 Rosso Winner Red Non Turbo Coupe. Doing some rust treatment and brake pipe replacements at the moment.
What are my options for brake upgrades. The car currently sits on 17" rims.
The car will be used daily and may see the odd track use.

The front discs are almost at end of life so I was wondering if the 2L 20VT Brembo's will fit and what parts need to be fitted to make this set up work.

Any and all advice appreciated.

i used to have a set of EBC groove disk and green stuff pads

they were ok to start with but got worse and worse

changed back too standard disks and pads and its like a new car

personaly i would stick with good quaulity standard ones

OMP fast road pads are good for me and do not squeak. Also these disks are what I have http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fiat-Coupe-20v-Turbo-Front-MTEC-Drilled-Grooved-Brake-Discs-Mintex-Pads-304mm-/300844611740?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3AFiat|Model%3ACoupe&hash=item460bbc789c

i suggest you to check the piston if worn
or dry (press the pedal when brake are without pads),
you can cover the surface with teflon grease

then with 80 grit paper clean the discs and flat the
grooves if not too deep

change the brake lines with new ones

and let the old brake fluid flow out

when flow outside the brake lines new fluid
screw it on the brake (the pistons should be all inside pressed)

thight all the bolts, press the brake pedal until become hard

now you can do the break in without bleeding anything

if the brake power do not satisfy enough you have
to change the brake oring too following the same
instruction as above

Well the car is booked in for its first MOT in 3 years this Friday. I havent done much with the brakes yet. I changed 2 corroded lines to the rear and flushed out the system with fresh DOT 4.1 There was some white crap in there!

I put new Ferodo pads on the fronts. I will leave it at that for now and see what the brake results are on the MOT rollers.
I also have a complete spare 20VT with some slight front damage now and the plan is to do some swapping after the MOT.
