Gtv parts for better handling - 24/03/2016 20:37

Hello, i was wondering about changing the rear axle on my coupe and try gtv rear axle to fit in, also i was reading about this mod, it should be plug&play but the tank must be upgraded.. Is here somebody who can tell me more about it ? I want to try some amateur hillclimb race and i thing that this mod can be very good for normal driving either, but cant find more info about it, i was reading about it two years ago. Friend of mine have axle for sale so

Also i would like to know if its possible to change the steering rack from gtv, i assume that gtv has better steering with different ratio, i really love steering in the ar 156, theres plenty of very good possitive reactions on 156 and gtv is great also, furthermore gtv is same tipo platform, as coupe, 156 either, but i am not sure if steering from 156 will fit, gtv is more similar to coupe than 156 and have a lot better reaction about how it goes, i am talking about handling.. Hope u understand to me, i almost not using english at all after i leave the uk, i was living in brighton for a while, and i really fell in love to this city sometimes i want to go back to uk frown

Thank u guys for your help and sorry for my english im trying to not using translator laugh

The GTV rear sub-frame bolts straight on to the Coupe mounting points.

Tank needs changing as the shape of the subframe is very different. On the GTV, the tank is mounted in the body and not under the subframe. Coupe tank simply won't fit around the GTV subframe.

Note that the GTVs are 5 stud hubs and have a slightly different ABS sensor with a slightly different model control unit, so some messing around with hubs to retain the 4 stud hub will be required. I understand it is feasible but do not know what parts are needed from other Alfa/Fiat models.

The steering racks are totally interchangeable, but the track rod ends might be a larger diameter on a 20VT Coupe. You will need to remove the tracking arms from the old 20VT rack and use them on the GTV rack, but they should screw straight in.

Hope that helps.

Yes it helps a lot, thank u very much!

I have coupe 20v atmo 108kw so i hope the tracking arm is the same as 20vt, isnt it?

The 20v tracking arms are a smaller diameter than the 20vt

The 3L GTV steering rack is the same as used on the 20vt coupe.

So a GTV 3.0 rack would bolt straight to a coupe, but check the rack ratio of the 20v versus the 20vt.

Your 20v tracking arms would need to go onto the GTV 3.0 rack as they are smaller diameter with different track rod ends.

I'm not sure you need to change the rack ends. I had a bit of a saga when I changed the TRE after I first got my car. I ended up trying a few different designs that all fitted the rack end thread. The difference, I found, was the ball joint pin diameter. The issue seemed to be that most places were listing the 20 valves as all the same.

It might be a simple track rod end swap needed only.

Hi for this combination it goes bolt on you need to change rear hubs to fit 4x98 bolt pattern rims
it fits from fiat coupe and abs is the same

the tank you can use is fiat cinquecento just need to change fuel pump inside fuel level fits the gauge
just you will need to cut of spare tire section to fit it
other than that bolt on and the improvement is amazing with handling

Is cutting the spare wheel section necessary to fit the gtv parts or for fitting a tank underneath the car?
What about a race tank that fits the spare wheel section? A bit pricy but you would not need cutting..

What about the exhaust? Does it have to be modified as well?
