Wobbly Bolts Questions!

Wobbly Bolts Questions! - 19/10/2009 13:55

Hi guys,

New to the board and hope to get some heads up regarding wobbly bolts.
I intend to change my rims to 17 inchers and problem is there is so few 17 inchers with PCD 98.
Therefore wobbly bolts is one of the option.
With these I can fit the PCD 100 wheels?
Some wheels are rated with PCD 100 & PCD 114
So can we still use these or need to be an exact PCD 100?

Oh, how about the total length?
Saw in e-bay it is 58 mm, will these be adequate or it depends on the rims itself again?

Finally, what is the offset we should be looking for when I want to fit a 17 inch wheels to a 20v turbo plus with the red brembo?

Thanks!

have you looked at Azev or Team Dynamics wheels? They are available with a straight fit...

Hi Suba,

Wow you're quick!
Thanks for the info but I live in Malaysia.
Those rims are nice but it would cost a bomb to sent them here, besides the tax would be high(my guess anyway) as Malaysia is one of the wheels manufacturer with low end brand such as BSA, JRD and so on...

Understood - I'm a bit out of my depth then. I started looking at options with wobble bolts and then after a short space of time decided that I'd go for ones that were a straight fit. crazy

You can fit 4x100pcd alloys to the Coupe, with wobbly bolts. You can't fit 114pcd unless you had some expensive hub adapters.

Make sure the alloys clear the Brembos. If not, you will need spacers.

i think jonboy is refering to alloy that are called multistud, they have both 4 x 100 AND 4 x 114 (8 holes in total)

if so then yes you can use wobbly bolts with the four holes set at 4 x 100 pcd

as for length

hubs = 12mm thickness
discs = 7mm thickness
Standard alloys non taper section = 10mm

The standard bolts are 29mm thread length.

i have 15mm spacers (used to increase my offset)

12 + 7 + 15 + 10 = 45, so i use 45mm thread length

you just needs to find out how thick the non tapered part in the alloys are, and you can calculate your required thread length smile

(BTW some sellers advertise total bolt length, not thread length, so be carefull smile )

Hi Ninja,

Thank you for your very informative piece.
So I need to know the thread length required as well?
Can we cut them in size if it is too long?

Just curious.
