Porche brakes

any help is greatful

Has anyone ever put porche 6 pot brakes on there 20vt? or 6 pot brakes of some sort?

JohnS had big red porsche calipers (330mm discs to IIRC) on the front of his coupe, but he also used an alfa hub conversion

Obviously you'll need bigger wheels too for over 305mm discs.

JohnS sold his coupe bits though, so I'm unsure who owns them now

the 330mm discs still had 4 pot calipers? i know the evos run 330mm standard on the fronts and have 4 poit brembos

I run a 330mm conversion, credit is to Sparco as I copies him, they are a bolt on to the 20vt but require adaptors made for a 16vt like mine

they are a 4 pot (same as porsche up to prehaps the very lastest) and are from a alfa 156GTA

Couple of thing to note, they will not fit inside the OE 16" wheel, 17" are a minimum

Inside a 17" wheel only just clears and may hit some spoke designs

I'm sure your right do but I was comparing to 996 GT3 cup cars and they run a very similar 4 pot

these calipers are shared

Alfa GTA 156
Mitsi evo 8 and 9
Subaru wrx sti (some versions)

Also sparco runs these brakes in his time attack coupe and I don't think he is short on brakes

As for cost, they are not cheap though, and radial mount but with the right braket from Alfa will bolt up to a 20vt front hub I believe

very nice brake conversion, you can see the differance quite abit, has no one ever put 6 pot brakes on?

Why do you want 6 pot ? The surface area of those 4 pot pistons is probably larger than a 6 pot so they will work better.

Just a point worth notong on the whole i need 16 pot brakes and 4m brake discs. YOu don't and you will be surprised at the performance of a good caliper, disc, pad and brain combo will do. Anyone that knows me knows i'm relatively hard and late in the braking department and i have yet to have fade or a moment with these 4 pots and 330mm discs, coupled with Pagid yellow pads.

My setup was 340x35mm using Porsche 996 twin turbo calipers. With the adapters I had I could have gone 6 pot with a 996 GT3 Mk2 disc (350mm) as a bolt on more or less. Mine fit under 17s just except some 2/3 piece design wheels.

I would go for monobloc calipers (one piece) if you can, although the GTA ones (not monobloc) with the 330x32mm disc are very good (and probably good enough that it isn't worth the price differential for what I had).

There is some mix and match possible as the GTA brembo adapters also fit Porsche boxster S front calipers (I have some lying around) Likewise the adapters fit a Ferrari 360 caliper if you use a 28mm disc
