Thanks very much, its half carpeted now so looks much neater again.

I've only been able to upload pics that I've found in my PhotoBucket account, the rest will be up when I get home.

I was very lucky, a lot of the hard work had been done when I bought the car. - one of the hardest and most expensive one being finding/importing a decent donor vehicle.

Re: Coupe Integrale Project Discussion Thread. - 08/04/2009 13:50

well surely a rotten integrale would do but i guess they are very rare now.
how hard is it to convert to 4wd?

Re: Coupe Integrale Project Discussion Thread. - 12/06/2009 09:41

Unfortunately Delta Integrale running gear wont fit so you need to find a Dedra or 155 Q4, only the Q4 was imported to the UK and I should imagine only the good ones are left.

The picture of the head is that not only a 8v i can see ?
Posted By: coupe_integrale

Re: Coupe Integrale Project Discussion Thread. - 07/07/2009 08:20

yup - 8 valve Originally from a Dedra. The Coupe was bought as a 16v NA with a blown engine so the Dedra lump was used.

Looked into both the 16vt and 8vt engines when the head gasket went and decided that sticking with an 8v was a better bet.

have you yet try to running with the "integrale ?", and how do you think it works ?.

Re: Coupe Integrale Project Discussion Thread. - 16/07/2009 15:17

Its been on (mostly off) the road for over a year now, it is still in its very early stages and needs a lot of sorting but I think it's going to be great. Feels very planted, and is incredible from a standing start.

Next thing is to get the suspension and brakes sorted (thanks to Begbie) and try to shed some of the extra weight the car has put on.

How is yours coming on?

Re: Coupe Integrale Project Discussion Thread. - 17/07/2009 05:41

Fine thanks, i am putting my hand on my last tuning/mods, and then it is going map the last part monday.

And the 4wd works perfect, no strange noise :-), no i mean when you drive normaly you can't hear/feel/see that the car have 4wd

Re: Coupe Integrale Project Discussion Thread. - 17/07/2009 08:37

Can't wait to see it finished! I've still got to work on that handbrake setup you showed me, mine got through the MOT but is still awful!

The extra grip from the 4wd the main thing you notice, especially in the wet.

The extra weight/transmission loss isn't really an issue especially if you're going to be sorting the engine out wink

Re: Coupe Integrale Project Discussion Thread. - 17/07/2009 10:16

Cool how did you pas MOT, do they not look that the car have been "rebuild" with 4wd ??

I cannot feel the diffrence in thw weight gain, and i would try to make some 0-60 time with my gtech next week.

Great project. All Coupes should have had 4wd!

Re: Coupe Integrale Project Discussion Thread. - 11/09/2009 17:45

It got through the MOT pretty easily, just had to sort the handbrake out (Seems to be a common problem with most Coupes)

Is indeed compatible with the 16vt lump. Too low? You should have see it with the coilovers wound down wink my old daily hack was low, the coupe is sensible - tractoresque if anything.

there is no such thing as 'too low' wink

How's the project going James? Any development over the last couple of months?

Owain

Re: Coupe Integrale Project Discussion Thread. - 04/03/2010 11:57

Hi Owain,

How are things? Got rid of the S3 yet? wink Getting any riding done?

The car has be sat at my parents place for the last few weeks, the weather, electrical problems and being silly busy has prevented much progress recently.

Going to crack on with it at the weekend though see if I can get it running.

Cheers

Congrats on getting her started mate!
brilliant news!

Re: Coupe Integrale Project Discussion Thread. - 05/03/2010 10:10

Cheers mate, that's a very kind offer.

Ideally I want to get the car up to a mates farm so I can work on it up there, but to do that I either need to get it taxed & Motd or see if it'll fit on our trailer (probably too low & wide)

Once it's up there and I've stocked up on the parts needed I'll take you up on that offer!

Dropping off some B pillars to be filled and powder coated tonight and also picking up a solenoid for the AVCR so I can crack on with that.

Digging the HF badges - Nice touch I want for mine too!

Did you ever sell the truck? Never see you over that way much anymore confused

Re: Coupe Integrale Project Discussion Thread. - 05/03/2010 15:02

Cheers mate, did have a bit of a bodge job on a 20vt grill fitted for a while but it looked really tatty. Picked up a tatty Zender grill that I refurbed and new badge to finish it off.

Yeah, really regret it. Every time I see a nice straight low Caddy I miss mine. Got my eye on one I've seen sat on a drive with 4 flat tyres though...

Had a look at your update yesterday, very impressive. Can't believe how much work you've done!

Hows the Dedra?

Re: Coupe Integrale Project Discussion Thread. - 08/03/2010 12:30

Lol trying to get the damn thing registered to cruise about in till the Caddy is done, but the dvla are giving me the runabout :@

You should def buy another truck tho! managed to get some paint on my engine bay this weekend! Cheesin' smile

Re: Coupe Integrale Project Discussion Thread. - 20/03/2010 03:24

Seems to be making a bit of progress since I last checked in. Looking forward to seeing this completed, I'm sure not as much as you are though smile

Still got the S3, I'm away with work at the moment but seriously thinking of getting rid of it when I'm back. I just hope it doesn't seem too good after driving around in basic, auto, 2010, Impreza saloon for 2 months.

No riding for a LONG time, will be working in the lakes for a few days when I'm back next month so I'll try and take the bike up with me.

What about you, any riding or is the project taking up too much time?
Posted By: coupe_integrale

Re: Coupe Integrale Project Discussion Thread. - 29/03/2010 09:30

I'm not sure the word 'completed' will ever be used in conjunction with this project wink but it is moving along slowly. Swapped on a spare turbo last week to see if I could get it running smoke free. Its firing on all of 2 cylinders at the mo so come payday I'll be chucking on some new plugs, fuel filter etc to see if I can get it going.

I keep looking to change my daily, thinking maybe an estate but my truck just keeps going and costing my next to nothing to run. Sure the S3 will be a welcome change when you're back.

Going to try get back into racing this season, just the 2 main problems of talent and fitness getting in the way! Saying that, managed a 17th in my 1st race in 6 years so not all bad. Even got a road bike, £20 Raleigh thats waaay older than I am.

Re: Coupe Integrale Project Discussion Thread. - 07/04/2010 08:39

What was the problem with it not starting then James?
Posted By: coupe_integrale

Re: Coupe Integrale Project Discussion Thread. - 07/04/2010 10:53

A combination of things, initial problem was a grotty earth between chassis and gearbox, the plugs had also seen better days. I swapped a whole load of bits over from a box of spares and in the end cured it.

Did you run a t34 at some point? I'm trying to research into them at the mo.
Posted By: Begbie

Re: Coupe Integrale Project Discussion Thread. - 07/04/2010 11:20

Glad you got it sorted smile

what do you want to know about the T34?
Posted By: coupe_integrale

Re: Coupe Integrale Project Discussion Thread. - 07/04/2010 14:19

Me to mate, just the small task of getting it through an MOT and to Bristol next!

I'm just looking into turbos at the moment, t34 or t34 hybrid seems to be at the top of the list. Is it best to get one off the shelf already hybridized or can something similar be made by a specialist from a T3?
Posted By: kj16v

Re: Coupe Integrale Project Discussion Thread. - 08/04/2010 10:02

Click "back" then look down a bit. The title of my Project page should give you a clue as to whether you can make a hybrid T34! wink

BTW. Judging from my own, and others experience, you can get >300bhp from a hybrid (.48 a/r turbine) but they all peak at 5500 rpm. Would be interesting to try .64 a/r turbine. Would make more power - or the same power without having to run silly boost.
Posted By: coupe_integrale

Re: Coupe Integrale Project Discussion Thread. - 08/04/2010 10:49

Very interesting read! Not sure how confidant I'd be in a DIY job I'd be though. Fair play!

Would the .64 housing be noticeably more laggy?
Posted By: kj16v

Re: Coupe Integrale Project Discussion Thread. - 08/04/2010 23:32

Sorry I should have said 63 housing.

Yes it would be more laggy and the boost threshold would be higher too. I haven't driven a car with that spec turbine housing so I can't say if it would be bad though. It would be down to your own personal taste too. I guess the threshold would be about 4000rpm.
Posted By: coupe_integrale

Re: Coupe Integrale Project Discussion Thread. - 09/04/2010 08:32

Thanks for the info!

I think I'd stick with the .48 as much as I'd like the extra power I don't think the car will be as nice to drive if it isn't spooling up until 4k, will have to do some more digging...

Nowt to do with me James, but just found this on Fleabay

Re: Coupe Integrale Project Discussion Thread. - 26/07/2010 07:52

Bad luck about the MOT. Sods Law.

My guess about your pic?: Well it's an air vent so I'd say you're going to fit a Widget. What prize do I win? smile

P.S. OK, everyone's got wing mirror spiders but engine bay spiders?!
Posted By: coupe_integrale

Re: Coupe Integrale Project Discussion Thread. - 26/07/2010 11:42

Tell me about it mate, just haven't had the time recently to put into the car which is areal shame. At this rate I'll have it on the road just in time for the short winter days and salty roads!

As for the pic, close but not quite right. It is the centre air vent but a Neil doesn't thing a Widget will work with my 8v management.

As for the spiders... I was a big wimp and had to wash the car before starting work on it!

Hows your car doing now? Turbo still holding well?
Posted By: kj16v

Re: Coupe Integrale Project Discussion Thread. - 28/07/2010 07:19

Hey you've got AWD; perfect for winter driving!

Yeah turbo holding up well, thanks. Got a .63 a/r turbine housing coming soon evil

Re: Coupe Integrale Project - 23/11/2010 10:02

It's good you've got her back and she's up and running again smile

How did you find the drive home?

I found she was pulling harder after the fuel pump change, I was thinking last night that an uprated Walbro might be an idea along with reinstating the wiring mod, I'd also consider an adjustable FPR with gauge.

This is a really nice Coupe, great conversion with potential to beat most things on the road today, I know it'll out handle my Vincy so I'd like a 4x4 setup myself now laugh
Posted By: coupe_integrale

Re: Coupe Integrale Project - 23/11/2010 11:21

It's great she's back on the road. Won't be making the same mistake again!

As for the drive home... quite a shock to the system having been stuck driving the pickup for so long. (and the dog slept all the way home!)

Took me about 10 minutes to find the interior light on and get strapped in. After that a mixture of fear and fun whist trying to be sensible wink I'd forgotten quite how shockingly bad the head lights are!

Think you're right about the fueling, seemed to occasional cough/stutter when coming on boost. Will get onto sorting it along with the other bits and bobs over the next few weeks.

Hopefully repeatedly using it will iron out a some issues, as you say - it's got potential just needs a few things sorting!

Cheers again for the hard work Joe!

congrats mate!!

get the wire mod done and sort out the little issue you have!

simple job mate!!
