Rockingham Sat 5th Nov Italian Trackday - 11/10/2011 12:32

We have an Event at Rockingham Saturday 5th Nov, it was going to be all Alfa but invite any FCCUK members along too. Details are on the Easytrack website, and dont forget you get 10% off smile

ARCA's last race of the season is at Rockingham this coming Sunday, and some of the racers are coming along with race cars on the Sat 5/11 trackday.

Spectating is free as always

Biggest expense / loss to AROC has been Trackdays over the past years. We have always offered to host for them but competition side of AROC isnt as strong as it used to be.

There are still a number of AROC members who love trackdays :-)

I'm going with my Giulia GT - having seen the ARCA boys at play a few times, I think I'll move to a different session...

That's not entirely accurate (or possibly not even slightly). I've organised a number of the AROC trackdays at Donington - cost to the club = £0. Trackday cost to the members £99. Hard to beat.

Great work indeed. Just what the club needs. Im going back some years, and used to have the club accounts which showed they were the biggest risk and there was a loss. trackdays are exactly that to an organiser, a risk, thankfully with a good track record we fill them!

Im all for supporting AROC btw. I can do a Sat at oulton for less than £89, even less with a package. Hopefully we have the same aim, get enthusiasts on track, cheaply where possible and give a great experience.

And we take ths risk, not the club. Sounds like you have been doing a good job.

We filled all 90 places two years running though we only managed to get 60 the third year so we decided to give it a break as money was clearly tight amongst the members and Donington was being dug up for F1. Donington was the venue most members wanted to do. Rockingham was never a very popular option possibly because people aren't familiar with it. Oulton would be too far north to be popular. I ran loads of on-line surveys before and after to find out what was wanted.

What also reduces the popularity of AROC track days are the events run by Alfaholics and Classic Alfa which are excellent events and for Giulias and older. These satisfy a lot of the demand amongst the track oriented members.

All of that said, moves are afoot to reinstate an AROC race series.

The club did one race this season (Mallory?) which was very successful and we've been invited to give our views on how much racing there should be next year. There's a meeting on Nov 6th for drivers to discuss.

There are lots of racing Alfas in circulation. There are up to 7 in my race series in Scotland. The issue is to come up with a formula that works and isn't competing with ARCA.

I had a great time catching up with AROC mates I've not seen for years (or not seen at all in Mick Cotton's (Fearne's dad) case).

Only saw one Coupe there.

I lent my car out quite a bit to said mates so if you saw it out on track, it wasn't always me driving.
