Polling for interest

Polling for interest - 05/02/2016 15:51

I would like a show of hands from you if you are interested in a non-official Coupe (+ guests if needed) event at Curborough. Please reply giving your preference of day (or both if you can make either) and whether you would like a pre-event meeting for food.

Saturday 7th of May

OR

Saturday 9th of July

13.00 until 17.30 (4hours 30 mins)
Full circuit
We will need to Marshal, start line flag and time ourselves.
Maximum 25 cars, with FCCUK receiving a head start before being offered to other select forums.

£50 for the main driver
£5 for a second driver
No charge for passengers

Assuming the day runs with no hiccups then we will aim to give a part rebate if we get more than 16 cars.

Nigel has kindly offered to arrange some sort of pre-event food, either on site or at a local pub. This will be optional but please indicate if this is of interest and we can provide more details and cost.

So, who is seriously interested?

Saturday 7th of May

Re: Polling for interest - 05/02/2016 17:29

Hmmm, interesting. May 7 is the weekend before Viva Italia in Assen, so I wouldn't want to break my Coupe at Curborough and have to cancel attending Viva Italia, so with that logic July is better.

A few Q's - any restrictions on the number/age of passengers? Does the cost include recovery/medical facilities of some sort (ie: if you come off the track and get stuck, or if you have a more serious accident?) Do we have to add a timing strut, or is it just a bunch us old geezers with flags and stopwatches? What's the short course, out of interest?

Re: Polling for interest - 05/02/2016 19:23

Hi Dave,

I will find out about passenger age. No facilities on site, so it's a case of 999/tow the car to the gate and call the AA. No timing strut required, we all time each other (fairly too!). The short course misses out the long left hander at the start, Nigel says it's better to stick to the long course so that's the one we'd do. smile

Having rung my wife back in the uk, I've been told that we are at a wedding on the May date.
I have removed myself from that day. I'll just have to hope the July is the chosen one.

I had hoped we'd have a few more names for this by now, it's a fun afternoon out in the summer, not too pricey either.

The May date is too close to the Viva Italia show so that's one out for me, July is looking good so I'll put myself down as a tbc closer the time if that's ok Dave.

I'd hoped we'd have had more interest than this, not sure we can proceed on current numbers which is a shame. frown

Re: Polling for interest - 17/02/2016 17:00

Dave, I was very interested in this but Saturdays is not a good day for me. Maybe nearer the date I can arrange something.
Perhaps it's still early days....I'm sure there are lots more owners who's interested but haven't seen this thread ?

@Fishy_Dave - is this still likely to happen (on 9th July)? It's been in my calendar a long time...

Hi Dave,

Sorry, no, the interest hasn't come in the numbers I was expecting and I am pretty certain that date will have been booked out now. Happy to try again next year, but I guess as the Coupes are getting older there are less of them being tracked these days?

Best regards, Dave

Re: Polling for interest - 29/05/2016 08:03

I wonder if posting a link on 'coupe related chat' would be a good move for a curborough day ?
The thing is, many coupe owners might not consider a track day due to the added risk of other cars on the track at the same time.
I wouldn't track my coupe for this reason.
I bet this type of owner NEVER visits the track day section on the forum !
But as curborough is a sprint track (one car at a time) it makes it a right good laugh in "relative" safety.
A sort of "track day that isn't a track day"

Just a thought,
Tim

Re: Polling for interest - 22/07/2016 09:14

Don't worry, you didn't miss anything, sadly not enough people for me to take the risk booking a date. I will do something next year with another club and put out an invite again, this way we're more likely to get the numbers needed (and I won't be out of pocket!).:)
