If I wasn't on holiday for the first, and already booked in at Oulton for the second, I'd have joined you!

Have a great day smile

Who is the £130 offer with Ecrab?

Re: Donington 26 April/23 May - 26/03/2011 21:11

Its gone up now. Its with Focused Events again. The price is up and dow like a yoyo. Started at £130 it was upto £169 mid week its now £150. Not sure if I will be going now. I'm either doing this one or the Alfaholics Castle Combe Trackday for Alfa 105's on April 16th. Can't afford both

Re: Donington 26 April/23 May - 26/03/2011 21:52

If it's less than £150 I will book again. Loved it last time, really got a fair pace going towards the end of the day smile

Re: Donington 26 April/23 May - 26/03/2011 21:58

£149 - booked.

See you there JBT?

Ecrab, come along now, it's a cracking circuit!

Re: Donington 26 April/23 May - 27/03/2011 19:58

Focused events are useless. They dont use the blue flag, and im yet to do a day with them where they dont black flag me for overtaking.
If your quicker and someone doesnt let you past then you have got to overtake them on the corner.

The other thing is its dangerous as theres way too many cars on the track for my liking.

Someone mentioned trackdays.com for being good with behaviour and numbers.?

Your right, but have you seen their prices, it would probably be £300-£400 at Donington. If you think Focused Events are bad you should do a track day with Javalin.

Kids go back to school on the Tuesday. But that's in Bristol, check your local authority John.

Looking forward to my second track day here, will be good to get in the groove from the start this time.

Re: Donington 26 April/23 May - 28/04/2011 09:33

Well, Ecrab, Mr Tickle & I had a good day at an MX-5 infested Donington on Tuesday, where I burned my way through almost 2 tanks of fuel in a shade over 200 miles. Tyres well and truly scrubbed. Mr Tickle black and blue from being thrown around as my passenger all day.

The MX-5's were there testing ahead of their series race at Donny. To say they were not following the laws of a track day (ie did not pull over to let us faster folk overtake!) was an understatement!! Couple of supercharged MX'5's we had a good ding dong with first time out, unfortunately the camera didn't work, and a bit of badge snobbery with a Porsche that didn't yield and so we had to overtake on the grass on the hill after Craner curve. So much for allowing the faster car to overtake, by pulling over, giving a clear indication and backing off the power!

Technical issues on the day;
Ecrab had a few issues with brake judder from his Pagid blacks, and I had one issue going down Craner where the fuel pump cut out, so I had to run onto the grass, stop and it restarted and all was fine for the remainder of the day. That apart, both cars arrived and left under their own steam.

Couple of vids that did come out, first one ends in a little spin, but we were blatting past most things, apart from an insane 205 GTI shocked

Session 2

Second vid shows us forcing a Porsche 966 into a spin before the fuel pump cut out episode going down Craner.

Session 3

Unfortunately the camera didn't record any of our afternoon sessions, where things got more and more entertaining. One particular MX-5 not yielding on the fast back straight, so blatting past at 125 and not being let back on the racing line ahead of a tight chicane doesn't leave much space to go grr And 3/4 abreast overtaking driving Some good overtaking moves as well I was pulling at the end of the day, getting past with split seconds to spare before putting on the anchors and getting it to stick round the corner. All good fun, and whilst not quite God, I have Tony as my witness smile

Now on the to-do list before Spa;
New recording equipment
New track tyres
New front and rear discs
Investigate fuel pump cut out
Buy more oil

Re: Donington 26 April/23 May - 28/04/2011 10:23

That 205 was just stupidly fast!
Posted By: Ecrab

Re: Donington 26 April/23 May - 28/04/2011 12:22

Yes I had a major problem with brake judder again with the Pagid RS14s. It was the same as last time at Donington where I thought it was the discs that were warped. Since them I had new discs, followed the Pagid bedding in proceedure and exactly the same issue again. I swapped my pads at lunch time problem went away.
Didn't want the RS14s but no 15s were available at the time. Seems to be qiute a few judder issues with the 14s when searching the net.
Anyone else tried them on a coupe

Re: Donington 26 April/23 May - 29/04/2011 22:01

The RS-29 Pagid Yellows go nicely Steve.

Just thought I'd post pics of my tyres, after some 200 miles use on Tuesday. Nicely worn on the outer side of the front left, and the inner side of the front right.

Given the tyres are non-directional, will swap them round next time out as they're fit for another 200 miles of abuse smile So long as the few cracks that have developed and a couple of holes hold together!

Maybe someone not too far away had a little something to do with that.:D laugh laugh
Last week we also returned to a customer a 106 gti turbo pushing 320bhp.

The Porsche spin looked nice, always pays not to follow those pendulum's too closely

Evil Brake judder Dan,sorry i wasnt there but the last track day at donny has killed my engine.
