It's booked in! - 26/04/2007 21:24

Got my car booked in for a live map next saturday the 5th! Really hoping she puts out..... some good figures and does not got pop! Booked into Perfect touch. Once this is done I think that will be the end of my performance quest. / - slash storke there are always cams to go but not too sure if they make a massive difference for the cost.

I'll be interested to see how you get on, considering a live map myself. Got a few 'bits' to do first.

It's got a gt28rs, evo 7 front mount, 3 " exhaust, profec B @ 0.8 and 1.25 bar settings, ported head, stright induction kit with pipercross cone filter, balanced crank, lightened flywheel, Graham L chip, GTA clutch with uprated walkers cover plate. It feels deadly in high boost. Just hope it is over 300.

lol with head work and an RS you should be looking more at 340-350bhp with around 300-310lb/ft \:\)

Well it was close... 330 Bhp with 279lb/ft. Rob said that the intercooler has a restriction in it hence the lowish torque figure and the actuator needs tightening on the turbo, so may have to get a pro alloy joker on the front to get the power and torque up. But I am still really pleased with the result because. It goes like a complete animal, much quicker than before the mapping, it just surges forward like a cat with a hot poker shoved up it's ass! it was quality to see it on the rollers popping flames out the exhaust while being mapped.
I have to say that the guys at Perfect Touch were spot on seeing that I had to get the car there for 8.30 and I didn't rock up till 10.30. Only went out last night for a couple of cheeky drinks which turned into a complete mash up, hence me sleeping through my alarm.
There was a fairly rude MR2 turbo drag car which had just been on the rollers and recorded 550 BHP, think it was about 80 brake till 6000 revs and then the dustbin sized turbo kicked in to produce the minerals in the last few thousand revs.
All in all a quality place and very helpful. I recomend them to anyone. Oh and anyone want a Graham L 1.2bar chip?

Yet another happy Perfect Touch customer - Rob and Claudio really know how to impress.

330 with a restrictive intercooler is pretty impressive - what boost did you run?

I reckon there's another 10 - 15bhp in there with a ProAlloy FMIC

Rob always seems to want to make the car FEEL quick on the road - it would probably be easy for him to map it to give a high peak bhp, but he habitually goes for area under the curve, which makes for massive surge on the road.

You can hear the intercooler making a funny noise on boost as well. My torque figure is almost flat from 3500 to 6200. Think on high boost it is set to 1.4 but obviously that tails off a bit. Haven't really looked at the greddy setting yet. You have to concentrate when accelerating at wharp speed. Yeah Rob is very passionate about area under the curve!

When you post up the pic, can you say what headwork you had done? Also, on their actuator remark, they said the same to me, but it turned out to be a boost leak and after just installing my widget, it turns out I've got a streched accelerator cable too!
