new RR results - 01/10/2007 02:21

Hi Mates,

Today I have made my third RR run and im still not happy with the results!!

Just to remind you, those were my old graphs
Old results
- power : 243.6hp at 6400; (AFR : 13.6!!) HP
- Torque : 180Lb.ft at 5600; Torque
- boost 1.2/1.3 bar to 0.8 at redline;
With the following mods:
STD Turbo
PA FMIC
PA SIP with Apexi cone filter
supersprint De-cat & Cat back sys.
PRV
Gtech1
7ET NGK Spark Plugs
Dv26

The old results show that the car was running extremely lean. here is a linke for the old thread

After the forum members advices I have added the following:
GT28R Turbo
H&S DP,
Walbro 255 with wiring mod
Gtech1 HF
The results are as follows:

Green Line: (1.2 bar)
- Power: 271.7hp at 6800rpm
- Torque: the graph says 195Lb.ft at 5600; while it shows 229.5 Lb.ft

Blue line: (1.1 bar)
- Power: 249.5hp at 5900rpm
- Torque: the graph says 180Lb.ft at 5600

HP & AFR , Torque & AFR

Im not happy for couple of things:
- the car is still running lean. I know that it has been improved (from 13.6 to 12-12.2) but I have to do something to reduce it more to 11-12 range.
- Although the power has been increased from the old graphs, but I think it should reach 290-300hp with my mods. I believe if I increase the boost to 1.3 or 1.4bar the power will jump to that figure, but I have to solve the fueling issues first.
- The Torque is still giving me low values. There is a serious drop of torque 3400-4000.

Now my question is simply what to do to run my car right?? I have Gtech2 & Gtech2HF on my desk waiting to be fitted, but im afraid that the advance ignition would cause more problems to the car (im running usually 97oct. fuel). Is it the cone filter that causing the torque problems??

p.s. i have noticed that the operator runs the graphs based on 4cyl. engine and when i asked him to choose 5cyl, he said that there is no 5 cyl in the settings to choose!! is this the problem??

Any thoughts mates ?

What chip are you running just now?

97 ron is the minimum for the gtech2.

Re: new RR results - 01/10/2007 02:48

Maybe try a different set of injectors?

Ross

p.s. the gtech1 is a leaner chip than the gtech2.

Re: new RR results - 01/10/2007 03:01

hmmm, thats give me a reason to fit the Gtech2 hf....

AFAIK, the ECU should be mapped to the injectors, ryt?
i have even thought about fitting the 3.8FPR, but it also need mapping!

No i meant trying a different set of stnd injectors. Incase there is a problem with yours?

Re: new RR results - 01/10/2007 10:09

last time the car visited the dealer, i have asked them to change the injectors, but they informed me that they are in a perfect condition!

I will try that anyway ross, do you think that the gtech2 will do something?

Re: new RR results - 01/10/2007 15:18

Dont know. I ran a gtech2 on my original setup, which was similar to yours is just now.

Only thing i would say, is that it seems as if everything is happening very late on. Around 4000rpm instead of early 3000rpm. It could just be the chip. I would change and re-run.

Omran it says that peak power is 229.5bhp that's not a torque value.

I would try using a 3.8Bar FPR to get more fuel.

Re: new RR results - 01/10/2007 17:26

I'd be using the GTEC2 if I was you. On the graphs its says 'Tyre pressure: 50' - did they check this?

I presume it means 50psi - thats was too high. Should be 39 fronts.

Omran, have a look at my latest result. I used a Gtec2 and it was overfuelling a bit. Still using the original turbo \:\)
More info here: Swedes 2nd RR

By the way have you changed fuel filter?
Have you checked fuel pump?

Re: new RR results - 01/10/2007 18:21

thanks all for the comments,

@Ross, ya i have noticed that from the first run, even with STD turbo it was the same! i wonder why, but this is it!

@Kenno, ya i saw that earlier, the 229.5 is the wheel hp. the 3.8FPR needs to be tuned to the car, and we dont have any tuner here. i have to go with ready made chip only!

@Nobby , TBH im a bit confused about this. they have increase the tyre pressure to 50psi (it should be as they are stating!) but the problem is that the dyno was made for 4cyl engine not 5cyl! i wonder if it will cause any difference in results (the operator said no!)

@Freddan72, im running Walbro 255 pump with wiring mod! so its not a std thing.

i feel its time to visit barbz! \:\)

Omran, I was at a rolling road the other day, the same as Surrey Rolling Road uses, can't remeber the type!

The guy said he has to run my car as a 6 cylinder as the roller won't read it otherwise, I guess down to the fuelling!

Re: new RR results - 01/10/2007 19:47

I think that to get a good reading the dyno should be in 5 cylinder (and forced induction?) mode - presumably this is what the Coops will be using at Surrey Rolling Road in November?

I think the setting will make a difference, but I'm not sure in what way \:\)

Re: new RR results - 01/10/2007 23:06

i saw couple of graphs on dyno dynamics type, and all shows 6F (6cyl. Front wheel drive)..the operator considered my car as 4 cyl in this run, maybe this why the torque is too low. im not sure though..

Yer it was dyno dynamics that I went on at the weekend!

Re: new RR results - 02/10/2007 21:19

i dont think that the setting of the 4 or the 6 cyl would affect the AFR values. but how about the torque? it should be affected! ryt?

Something seriously amiss with those graphs, when is your boost coming in?

Re: new RR results - 20/10/2007 19:28

Just been to motorscope on a DASTEK RR with a similar mods list to you but can't upload the graphs due to usb problems. my max power was 260.8bhp at wheels @ 6213rpm and max torque was 263.5lbf.ft @3,185rpm. While I am pleased with the torque I am a little disappointed at BHP. My AFR get in the low 11 at 3000rpm to mid to high 10's at 6000rpm.
Will upload graphs when I get around my problems.

Re: new RR results - 20/10/2007 19:40

What boost are you running at high revs panic? Probably need more boost redline, which will get you nearer 280 bhp ;\)

Re: new RR results - 20/10/2007 19:50

vac boost going up in 500rpm's from 2000rpm..............

12.2/20.1/19.3/18.8/19/18.2/17.2/15.7/14.3.

AFR to match.......

14.2/13.5/11.2/11.3/10.9/11.1/10.9/10.6/10.6/10.5.

Darn my usb ports \:mad\:

Can I send graph by moby for someone to upload?

Re: new RR results - 20/10/2007 19:53

Dude i'll take it from you!! \:D

Your boost is dropping off as expected. You want to run 1.05 to 1.1 bar redline.

14.3 is about 0.9 bar. The extra boost will be the power loss difference. Also, u should get most boost if you can get the boost to hold longer aswell, through the midrange ;\)

Re: new RR results - 24/10/2007 12:11

Opps it seems I missed a lot here.

@ davidub, ya I feel that there is something wrong too, but I can figure it out! I have low HP & lvery low torque ( I can feel it pulling though!). My boost is showing up at 4K, which I hate! I don’t really know whats the problem! im running all these mods and getting only 271hp & without proper AFR figures. Im running PRV not EBC as im afraid to loose a cylinder or something. I hope I can figure it out! Maybe its something simple but I cant see or it may the fault of the RR itself not the car (they set the device to 4cyl car!)

@panic, I will reply to your thread.

cheers
