13.0@112mph - 14/06/2009 17:29

Leighton took my car to Shakespeare County raceway today and managed a 13.0@112mph!

Haven't got much information on the runs, but my gearbox has been very difficult to use since the rebuild (3rd was sometimes impossible to select) and was causing Leighton some problems. I will be having it looked at properly when I get the car back.

Car was ran fully loaded with Toyo Proxes!

I'll let Leighton add more when he gets a chance smile

No, gearbox was fine before rebuild so just went straight back on. Obviously didn't like being sat around for ages. Seemed to be freeing up slightly after a few hundred miles but has now done around 1000 and still isn't good so needs more investigation!

That's a good time for a fully-trimmed Coupe, especially one with a dodgy gearbox

Looks like a replacement box may be in order

Does this mean you're going to enter TOTB?

If I can get the box sorted then I would like to! The last thing I want is to take the car when it isn't 100% and not do it justice!

The terminal isn't great, but I guess with a dodgy gearbox a few mph is easily lost!

Like I said I don't know much about the runs except that he was only able to get 2 clean runs with the box!

Well been back an hour, had to have a beer first because that was a tough day! Too hot for drag racing, feel tired and a little crispy. Best time of the day was on the second run.

60ft: 2.216 secs
ET: 13.04 secs
Terminal: 112.4mph
Boost: 1.55bar

This was fully loaded i.e. full tank, a few bits and bobs in the boot as well as my fueling gear hooked up. Have to say finding third was an ordeal, on subsequent runs I couldn't find it and then I stuck it in 5th twice from 2nd rolleyes Other than the launch which is always hard in a FWD, the car hooks up well when rolling. Unfortunately it got too hot what with queuing for 20-30mins for each run, so the afternoon was no better.

Anyway, fairly pleased with the results. It's a very fast car and nice to drive on the road. I'll be adding more to my section over the next day or so smile

Haha, I've had that quite a few times. I was driving it after picking it up from the rebuild, taking it VERY, VERY easy. Tried to get it in 3rd, went into 5th. Tried 3rd again and went into first, revs shot up over 5000rpm and I think my heartbeat shot up to a similar level.

Nice to know there is time to be had off the 13secs anyway smile

It's definately a 12 second car, even in that trim I could see a 12.7 @ 115mph, a bit of stripping and sticky rubber then I think mid to low 12s on a good run.

BTW, the car won a tophy laugh Fastest five cylinder over the weekend, there we four others smile

Thanks mate!

I remember now it's exactly the same turbo as mine laugh

With 1.55 bar on that beast you're probably in the 400HP range love

I keep fingers crossed for you wink

And this is absolutely right wink

I love numbers but i have to agree with you. The most important thing is the way the car is on the road thumb

amd your running 1.5bar ish confused

this will be interesting mark to see what figures you put out at that boost as its the turbo i have and i expect it will be RR'd on exactly same one my car was done on with leighton too. smile

Do you have c&b cams?

Re: 13.0@112mph - 15/06/2009 11:40

Re: 13.0@112mph - 15/06/2009 12:44

Leighton is mapping my car to around 1.6 bar peak as anymore it starts to pink with the raised compression at 9:1. The boost holds to 1.5bar to 7000rpm!

Yep, got C&B cams! smile
