Goodwood Breakfast Club- Continental Classics

Goodwood Breakfast Club- Continental Classics - 09/10/2012 11:23

I think I'll try to go to this as I haven't been for a long while and it's the last of the season.
On Sunday 4th. November and starts promptly at 8.00 am so not for the feint hearted!

I'll wait at the Lidl carpark (opposite Sainsburys and McDonalds)- [Portfield Way (A285)- just off the large A27 roundabout] until 7:45 if anyone else may be interested.

Take a look: http://www.goodwood.co.uk/breakfast-club/whats-on/events/bc-november.aspx

It's been a good thing to do in the past and perhaps the subject matter may bring some rare beasts out? Breakfast is good if a little on the expensive side but nothing like the cost of going to the Goodwood Revival and entry is FREE!
It finishes at 12 noon so doesn't take up the whole day- unless anyones up for a sneeky roast at the George at Eartham afterwards?
Just reply if you are interested.

I've never been to one of these.

Sounds like a good idea Chris, maybe? I think we might be doing my daughters B.day party that day but if not I'm in. I might bring along my new toy wink

Mr Charman, you tease! What's this new toy? You haven't opened up the Corporate Wallet again!? (without the "Boss" seeing you?).

It would be great to see you if you're able to come along.

Have a LOOK
Oh, and "the Boss" approves, it had to be:
Practical, 4WD and as a bonus, it's already been tweaked enough to keep me happy in the short term smile but I think I've got a few ideas up my sleeve. I'm picking it up on Saturday driving
Attendance is looking increasing unlikely (due to 8yr olds B.day celebrations) that I be able to make it frown I'd rather be ten-pin bowling with 10 other lovely children anyway, not!

Well Ross, It's not a coupe but it looks like a Tractor that goes like stink and already sorted for little money so well done! Just right for all those mountain passes in Southwater and you and the Boss will be the first one to and from school each day!
Shame you won't be at Goodwood but really look forward to seeing you soon and then you can frighten the living Beejeezus out of me in the new toy!

This is no "tractor" mate, I recon it's been lowered on it's adjustable suspension tongue by about 50mm, just take a look at a standard one and you'll notice quite a difference! What with Impreza underpinnings and WRX/STI power upgrades, it is indeed no slouch. It is the road tax and the running costs that make go ouch wink
I don't do many miles, so mpg isn't a crucial issue. I run a better system, spm, smile per mile. This has it by the bucket load, a real Q-car. I have a few ideas as to what to do with it next wink
It has been confirmed today that the 4th is a "no go" I afraid frown but I'll pop down one weekend and well go for a drive and see how many Grannies we can pick up fit in he back on a run along the prom laugh
Have fun, Ross.

I didn't mean tractor as a derogatory remark, more along the lines of Chelsea Tractor. It looks, as you say, a Q car, much the same as your well sorted Coupe. The Pistonheads advert shows a lot of work under the car and it's a WRX/STi under the bonnet.

Worthing looks forward to your arrival with trepidation!!
Take care and see you soon.

To bring the post back on thread, I don't think there will be too many of these at Goodwood!!

Typically, It threw it down all night and up till 10:30 on Sunday morning so no incentive to go and gorp at continental classics at 8:00 am - let alone take one out of it's clean dry garage.
If anybody did go please tell me it was cancelled!

I have made a note to go to more of these next year (weather permitting!).

No it was still on but was the quietest BC I can remember, very hairy drive down from Fareham with lots of deep puddles/rivers on the A27.

I took the coupe and displayed it on the grid which was a first, some very brave people turned up with nice Ferraris and a Lambo. Had a good chat with some old mates and a couple of coffees so all in all better than spending the morning gloss painting!

Well worth doing these but to be honest you need to be there by 0730 on the busier days.

Wal_S,
Well done for the effort and now, of course, I feel as if I whimped out!

Great to make the grid and also to let you know that there was massive remodelleding of the A27 eastwards with new water jumps to add to pointless speed limits and speed camaras!
