Honnington Italian Car Day and Fair, Kent 4/9/2016

Honnington is back on again this year, it gets bigger every year and we seem to always get good weather for it, a nice relaxed atmosphere with some great cars to look at and a 'country fair' to boot.

The FCCUK gazeebo looks very 'pro' in the past photos of the event and Serg1's yellow plus looks good!

Just received an email the organiser saying that the car and bikes are still going to be a part of the show but most of the country fair elements omitted. This was due to too many members of the public trying to get down the narrow lane! It looks like Sheriden Bowie is more keen on Italian machinery than duck herding and Newfoundland dogs pulling kids in carts!
Whilst I will still look forward to it I think it may have lost a bit in transition.

Shame, family enjoyed the country fair part.

Maybe it's due to the car side growing each year to the point they need more space.

Anyway I'll be there.

I didn't notice much problem leaving last year, must have been lucky.

Time to bump this, it's only 12 days away.

Pretty much all set for this. Car in reasonable fettle, barring a transportation 'accident' to the bonnet!!

Looking forward to it, I wonder if the weather will hold?

I might go. If I do I will be heading down from Banbury so could possibly meet at Banbury and convoy down if I go.

Wife has just given me the nod to go. So can convoy from Banbury what time?

I think it is approx. 2 hours from Banbury to Honnington TN4 0XD so if their gates open to Exhibitors at 9 then we would need to leave at 7am / 7:30 latest ? Problems will be trying to keep together with possible heavy traffic round M25 especially near Heathrow - but it might be quiet on a Sunday morning?

Ok well I don't mind meet at 7 in the costa coffee car park it's just off the m40

Good little event and great to meet a few fellow coupe owners.

Just received an email from the event organiser that this is NOT taking place this year due to his workload and the infrastructure namely the (disgraceful) state of the lane/road that the event is situated on.

That's a real shame because it's one of the good ones to look forward to. Can I suggest an alternative that I went to last year close by around a similar time of year: Edenbridge car show. This year on the 10th September. Although not exclusively Italian the was a massive turnout and really friendly similar atmosphere to Honnington. I think it was only their 2nd year so expecting an even bigger show this year. All for charity so very unassuming and all sorts of cars to see. I'll try and post the link this evening as only posting on phone at the moment, but in the meantime their website for this years show is live.

Same about Honnington, I was told last year it might not happen this year because of the poor state of the lane.

If we can replace Honnington with Edenbridge I'll go.

Although Honnington not happening this year is a 'bummer', your suggestion for Edenbridge sounds like a good idea. I went onto their website and there is a pdf entry form to download.
Can I suggest that I start a new thread for it and get an idea of likely attendees?

It also means you will get your umbrella and chair back from last year!!

thanks for this and yes please. You read my mind as I've just got in and was going to pm you, but you beat me to it.

It was a really good show and probably around 150 cars at least last year so probably double the size of Honnington. Very unpretentious with a real mix from £1m mercs and jags to treasured allegros!

And by the way you should be charging me a storage fee for the umbrella/chair so I owe you a drink! Regards Chris
