Highest meet in England - 23/08/2006 00:00
On Sunday October 1st 2006 at 12.00 noon at the
http://www.travelpublishing.co.uk/HiddenPlacesDerbyshire/DarkPeak/DER26843.htm This will give all of us a chance to met all the coupe's from up north all area's, quite a central venue so we hope for a good turn out. The idea of the met is for lunch and a good natter! and get some pics. Have been in touch with the owner of the pub and he needs to know roughly how many are turning up, so if you would like to come along let me know asap.

Try usig MS Autoroute mitch and setting in normal driving speeds
And thats from where i live not from yours lol.
Mines at Diesel speed, not LPG speeds
And yes last time it was snowy and icy but was a good laugh. the side of the mountain i went down was just ice laden and some of the cars cming up were very worrying!

Cowboy, take it you are organising this one, since it was your idea, but might I suggest meeting somewhere else
then driving to the pub for lunch.
It's a great drive to that pub on some luvverly roads but all them bends wont help with digestion, and I dont want mrsC2D chucking up in my nicely cleaned car

Anyone from N wales / Wrexham passing through Nantwich on way?
For those who dont know, be aware that place is littered with speed camera's and most weekends are helicopter patrolled - oh, and try not to kill any bikers.

I'm a maybe - I absolutely love the Buxton to Macclesfield road, but its not much fun on a Sunday, due to the amount of traffic.
As Ponsonby says, Plod uses helicopters at weekends, so probably not a good idea to go mad. There is one stretch (from the Cat & Fiddle back towards Buxton) that is flat and open with visibility for well over a mile, but is inexplicably a 50 limit. I've seen 150 in a car and 170 on a bike without feeling that I was dangerous. Its the road on the other side of the pub that takes the most lives - superbly twisty, but not the place to chuck a bike up the road.

My other half is coming along for the ride so they'll be two of (at least).
My plans are to either...........
a) Go from Darlo and back in a day (in which case Nicklala are up for a convoy or you already in Nottingham then?)
b) Go and visit my brother in Wolverhampton on Saturday night and drive up from there (in which case any Wolves members get in touch for convoy and if bro comes to pub then possibly 4 more peeps and a dog! (but unlikely))
c) Get a hotel somewhere near and go from there on Sunday then back to Darlo.
Is that clear then?

Actually last time we had a coupe meet in the snow, the RWD cars were sliding all over the car park and the coops were alright! Was quite scary watching a 355 going sideways @ 4mph going into the direction of a TVR tuscan

its at the junction of the M56 and the M6. for you if you head north from Nantwich for a few miles you will see signs for the M56, jsut follow the signs then for the services and warrington and it will take you up the slip road to a set of lights. get in the right hand lane and follow it round over the motorway. At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit and just follow your nose to the golden gates Pinin stylee
Just find out what time they are all meeting now! there sounds to be a few so i would reccomend that you all use the carpark to the right hand side as you go in as there are so many ejits that park near maccies that dont give a dam you could be left feeling a bit unhappy if someone dings your coops before you get there

You'll all be deeply saddened, I'm sure, to find that I won't be able to make this, as I fly to Gran Canaria on Saturday night. I booked my cheapo late deal today, hoping to get a Sunday evening flight so I could attend then cut across to Manchester airport, but alas it was gonna cost a lot more to fly Sunday.
Shame, cos I was looking forward to this. Hopefully I will see everyone at the Xmas party if not before.

Off the top of my head when I looked on a map the postcode brought up some silly location (which was probably a farm) but the pub was actually labelled on the map a touch to the east on the main road.

You wouldn't believe how close I've come to getting to this event.
My wife (a student midwife) works pretty much every weekend so plan 1 was that I'd come down, with my daughter, and meet up with you.
Then I found out that my best friend was heading down to stay at his parent's pub ... in Derbyshire ... this weekend. So plan 2 was that I would come down with him, and have a weekend at the pub and go to the meet on Sunday.
This was thrown into disarray when my wife announced that she wasn't working this weekend, and if I was going away then she wanted to as well. So plan 3 was for my wife, my daughter and myself to go to the pub for the weekend and meet up with you all on Sunday.
Now my best friend and his wife have decided they're going to take their bikes as well, so we can go cycling. So now we have plan 4, where we take 3 bikes along ... which means that we need to take the wife's Civic ... oh, and we're cycling on Sunday morning, so there's no time for me to go to the meet after all.
So there you have it ... after careful planning I'm now about 20 miles away from you, but without the Coop and laden down with family.
You all have a nice time

You shoudl be fine Dave as stats tend to fail open, not seen one fail closed yet....
best bet is if its cold maybe a short bit of cardboard to reduce airflow over your rad as it will voercool the engine then and lead to some not so small issues including a good chunky drop in mpg as well

Well got back from Scotland last night and have spent all this afternoon cleaning the coop. it was a tip after a week touring around Scotland, especially with our dog hoggin the back seat. So full valet today. Carpets cleaned, seats cleaned and treated to a bit of liquid leather, washed and waxed
Only gone and rained tonight
Hope it's dry tomorrow.

You can avoid all the bumps to his house.
Instead of going straight on at Faenol, turn up towards the hospital/anglesey, turn right at the top of the hill towards the hospital, go past the hospital then just before you get to the top of coed mawr hill (very steep) turn right, go down the litle hill, follow road to the left then turn right and you are in karls road.

85 miles and 2 hrs 25! Once I found the M6 I was ok, apart from seeing signs that said "North wales this way" and Oakworth is no where near North Wales!

My first meet also. Was great to see such a big turn out. Highlights for me was the yellow plus - now they are rare. 2 red LE's also!
With both me and Repoman with black LE's it was a great range. Sadly no Vinci grey's on show.
Sadly my camera died the second i got there. More pics please :-)

Where did it go a bit??
Its not too slow, im still trying to perfect the fuelling and boost level on it but would prob need setup on the rollers to be perfect but certainly does pickup well up hill from 1500rpm now

Where did it go a bit. When we turned onto that bit of DC heading for the motorway and you came past us Then we were all laughing our whatnots off when you jigged yo ass up and down at the traffic lights.
And Kelly - yours sounded nice as you blasted past me on the m.way slip road. I couldn't beleive it, there I am driving all nice letting you all catch up then as soon as theres two lanes I get tangoed by Wills smoke machine then your coop

Still managed it all the way back though bar the odd BMW plank driver
no indicators in wet weather and hogging an outside lane in a 4 lane stretch
That slip road for us though was a bit slippier than i thought untill i got home and realised my tires were a bit higher pressure than they should be
Sorry for smoking you out C2D, hopefully it wasnt as bad as normal diesel though
Was it heavily smoking or just a puff??

When i get mine back and running maybe have a run in that as its not as heavily tuned as Japs or Nigels suspension wise it runs Koni inserts so cna have hard or soft and not to skittish though styre pressure really affects coupes more than most cars IME.
Would have loved to have nosed at your Alpines engine bay as well, starting to miss my Diamonds

alison, you can always try another coop local to you - mine!! it's not modded other than dv, strut brace and exhaust so drives as standard and its green, as you know...

Shame you shot off early, I would have loved a proper look around your Alpine - mate of mine used to have one (replaced by Leon 20VT) and it was awesome (although reliability wise, it made the coupe look like a Toyota Hi-Lux and cost him a small fortune )
