Scottish meet Jan/Feb.

Posted By: Anonymous

Scottish meet Jan/Feb. - 25/08/2006 03:45

Would it work?

Would folk be interested in a meet every month or every second month? I know other clubs do this and they get a good turn out as the dates are set i.e 2nd Sunday every 2nd month.

What do you think?
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Regular Scottish meet? - 25/08/2006 04:17

Great idea, its something the boys and girls down south do quite often.
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Regular Scottish meet? - 25/08/2006 12:32

Yep, great idea Lou, although the track record for Scottish events hardly inspires confidence!

Would be good though, as far as I know the Alfa lot have a meet in Aberdeen somewhere on a monthly basis. Wouldn't be too hard to organise if you found a Pub or something that would let you use the car park etc. Might be worth opening it out to other cars though to get the numbers up. Hows the car BTW???

Re: Regular Scottish meet? - 25/08/2006 14:17

Hi Che, cars good other than broken aux belt...

I think your right about opening it up for others, say anyone with an interest in things coupeish. I know the MR2 club do this and have a meet next to the fourth road bridge which seems well supported. Finding a frendly pub shouldnt be a problem. The tricky part would be finding a location that the majority would be happy with.
Maybe folk would be more likely to attend if they knew about them weeks-months in advance.

Meets could alternate between north-south but we need folks input if this is what people want and would support?

Re: Regular Scottish meet? - 26/08/2006 05:29

Every second month is probably a more realistic target for getting folks together. I'd definately be up for it, dont mind travelling a couple of hours down the road.
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Regular Scottish meet? - 26/08/2006 12:08

Well I'd certainly travel for a monthly meet, would be interesting if it included other italian cars as well?

Guess somewhere like Stirling would be pretty central....
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Regular Scottish meet? - 26/08/2006 19:20

I guess Stirling is pretty central, but so far ony the Aberdeen boys have shown interest.

Where are the lowlanders?

Seems like the Alfa boys have a meet in Kirckaldy but its an evening meet. Could maybe try and arrange something with them....if we had enough interest?
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Regular Scottish meet? - 26/08/2006 19:44

Kirckaldy is quite a trip in an evening.

I was thinking St Andrews.
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Regular Scottish meet? - 26/08/2006 22:15

I agree, Kirckaldy is really quite far for you guys, especially for an evening meet. I guess evening meets might work during the summer months but it doesnt give folks much time if most of it is spent going there and back.
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Regular Scottish meet? - 27/08/2006 22:55

Well, Aberdeen would obviously be best.......

St. Andrews would work for me, but any further and it would have to be at the weekends. I've seen a number of Coop's in Dundee, but I think only Remo get's on here. Dundee would be good though, as you have all the parking on the riverside?

If you get a date and place i will try and make it just to pick your coupe brains , pen and paper at the ready

Ok, possibly looking at going for an evening meet in Dundee on Tuesday the 26th at Camperdown Park. Plenty of parking and food places and quite easy to find.

Just been informed about this post - thanks Che. I've not been checking the forum very ofetn, what between work and massive list of things do do at home. Anyway I'll be there if I can - 90% sure I'll make it. Haven't tried the Ashoka but heard a few good reports - love an Indian.

I reckon there are 3 or 4 Coupés in Dundee now, I'll try and figure out a way of getting some of them along, mught leave notes under wipers???

Hi Rosso, Good choice. My cousin works on the Stilo line, he reckons the Abarth and Schumacher are the dogs danglies. Last time I was over he let me see a Schumacher…....nice, think it’s pretty much the same spec as the Abarth?

Re: Regular Scottish meet? - 14/09/2006 23:37

Hi guys - new forum/club member based in Larbert, Falkirk. Wont be able to make 26th as leave for a weeks holiday on that day. I would be keen to attend any future meets though so please count me in.

Did that one ever happen at the Falkirk wheel? Falkirk town centre is a bit of a circuit, but I hear quite a few people meet at the large 'free' car park at the wheel... anyway just wondered how that one went.

Have a nice time in dundee and look forward to meeting some fellow coupe owners.

Cheers

So is it 7:30 in the car park at the Ashoka?

Remo
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Regular Scottish meet? - 20/09/2006 02:16

Yup, thats the plan Remo. Just had a thought, do you know if there are any car parks near by that are covered, just that if the weather is crap we would have somewhere undercover after food?
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Regular Scottish meet? - 20/09/2006 17:27

No none close by. The best we could do is park up on the road into the park. Its tree lined and should offer good cover. That should work as the road will not be busy at that time of night.
Posted By: Tartandude

Sorry guys

I have to work that evening

Im not going to be finished until 3am at the earliest and I imagine you'll be gone by then

Re: Regular Scottish meet? - 21/09/2006 02:41

Pity you can't make it. I hope that we will be home by 3am!

Just so folks know, I've not booked anything food wise, as it's a tuesday night and i doubt the place will be busy.

I can book if you want me too, but i will need to know nubers etc?

Re: Regular Scottish meet? - 24/09/2006 20:20

Just a thought!!! but I think someone has already said this- Hope your all aware that by 7:30 it will pretty much dark. The car park is lit so should be ok but if its raining my suggestion of the tree lined entrance to camperdown park might not be such a good idea, no lights. Anyway, what’s a bit of water? Just bring the shampoo and we can wash the cars.

Was monthly not mentioned? October and November will be tough for me as I'm hardly here. But if I am on the day I'll deffinetly come along. Picking a venue may be difficult as whereever it is some members will need to drive quite a few miles, in which case a weekend would be better than mid week.

Re: Regular Scottish meet? - 28/09/2006 01:44

Yes, it was nice to meet everyone. Just a shame I didn't have my coupe with me.

As for the next time, I think it's got to be a weekend really due to it getting into winter time. I'd prefer that anyway and then we can go for a drive somewhere too.

Re: Regular Scottish meet? - 28/09/2006 01:51

Good luck with the rest of your suspension rebuild!

I think a drive would be good. Stop off somewhere for lunch then back home in time for tea and biscuits

Meet, lunch then drive????

Stirling or somehwere central????

Re: Regular Scottish meet? - 17/10/2006 00:26

That be better for me, cost me a pigging fortune on fuel last time!!!

If everyone is up for it there is a little used road known near abington (A74 if i remember correctly) that we could go for a drive down and get some vids and what not. I know its a drive for the northern ones but its a top condition road and practically no traffic.

Pref lunch meet then a drive out Lou, otherwise it's a dead early start.

Re: Regular Scottish meet? - 17/10/2006 02:17

Well lunch can be any time before 3pm i would reckon. We could meet at 12/1 ish and then chat for a bit, drive to where we need to go. Then head on to lunch. Then people could leave at a decent time to get back home.

Re: Regular Scottish meet? - 17/10/2006 18:08

Hey everyone,

Apologies that i haven't noticed this section before.

I went to a pal of mines Mitsibishi Lancer Racing (MLR) meet on Sunday at Ingilston, just beside Edinburgh Airport. It was their first Scottish meet.

There were heaps of Evo's there from northern England and all over Scotland. Cars varied. There was a FQ430 (first one i've seen in the flesh)an evo 8 baged as a FQ500 (serious straight line power) and many different levels of stripped down and street cars. They had set up a timing circuit with proper official times being taken. It was £30 to take your car on track, which enabled you as many runs as you wanted. it wasn't just Evos. There were mr2's, sti's, gtr's, mx-5's too.

I could speak to my pal regarding how they set this up if this would be of interest??

Would be quality to get our motors on a proper track and give them some beans!!

I've got a video of the event at the bottom.

Cheers and hope this may be of use.

If not i'm well up for the suggested A47 meet.

p.s Hyper - sorry for not following up on your de-cat. I would have gladly taken it at TOTB. But since then i have been persuaded to get a custom exhaust. Sorry bud and i hope there are no bad feelings?

Re: Regular Scottish meet? - 17/10/2006 23:20

Looks ok, the other option would be to go to a top marques event at Knockhill. Ok it is more expensive at £75 for 4 hours but it is an open pitlane event so loads of driving time and Knockhill would suit the coupe better than that sprint track layout.

Right just to let everyone else know.

We will meet at showcase complex just outsude glasgow at 11.30am. Gab for a bit then head down the dual carriageway to get onto the m74 and head down to abbington and head into the services/local pub/local restaurant and grab a bite to eat. Then head onto the old miltary road b7078. This road is rarely used due to the new m74 and hence is brilliant for driving and taking pics at the side of the road.

What does everyone think??

What does everyone think??

Your getting close into my territory there now, don`t you know i`m the only coop (i think ) on the forum from Dumfries and Galloway .
The road is great for some high speed blasts. Just hope it`s not too windy as it`s pretty flat land.

Pics and vids will follow.

Ronnie`s and mine

Lou and Ross`s

Re: Regular Scottish meet january/february? - 15/12/2006 04:33

Right, here is the current line of thought:

Meet at Dunnottar Castle, Stonehaven. (conveniently close to me )
Then we'll head out over the Slug Road to Banchory, along the South Deeside road and onward past Banchory to Potarch. Stop there for a bite to eat, before heading over the Cairn O' Mount.

This takes us back onto the A90 at Fettercairn/Edzell where we can split and go North/South.

Mostly B-roads but they are good fun to drive on, and hopefully the weather wont put a stop to things.

Was thinking either the last weekend in January or first in February. Perhaps we should have a back-up plan too, in case it snows or anything like that?

And Che, yes I am heading down to the Christmas do.

Nah man... aparently he's decided that scoobies are much better than the coop. Subsequently I have disowned him and cut him off from any inheritance!!!

Just kidding - I am hoping that his Ma will take him for the day whilst i come out with you chaps and let the coop stretch its legs. Am going to run it past her this weekend when she is in a good mood - wish me luck boys!

Decisions decisions.....

What you think i should do guys? Travel up to che's on the friday night or convoy up with you guys?

My mate was supposed to be comming with but he wants to travel up on the saturday... now im pretty sure he'll half the fuel which would be good. But that involves driving all the way up there, then driving around, then heading back down again.. although i know sparky, baz and noel need to do the same. Any thoughts?

I'll be bringing my digital camera and i'll get him to take pics!!

Right here is an idea....

Meeting points
==============

0830 - Bothwell services
on the m74 north side (that easy enough baz? \:D ) for me and baz.

Then onto m73 then onto m80 up to the....

0900 - Dunblane Services
To pick up noel and sparkyman. (waste of time sparky comming over to bothwell. Better to meet further up.)

Then up the m80/A9 till perth, then onto the m90 north and we'll get Lou at .....

0930-0945 Bridge of Earn
cutoff next to the speed camera detector thingy.

Then onto stonehaven for 1100.

I'll find out whether my mate will be making his way to mines or whether he will meet us somewhere on the way.

Coming up the A90 from Dundee to Stonehaven Ross?

I wouldn't think it'll take a lot more than 45 mins. And that's staying within the 70 limit due to the plague of speed cameras.

(Last time I was between here and Dundee, there were 3 mobile vans to go along with the 10 or so fixed cameras)

That way I can start the day with a cup of coffe and a hash brown!!!!

Re: Regular Scottish meet february 3rd - 03/02/2007 00:43

Hey chaps, im afraid i wont be able to join you tommorow. Went to fiat to collect my cv joint after being told it was in. Well, the boot and clips were in and then he put on the counter a small box and said thats it all there. The box was the size of a small remote control for a telly, so not really a cv joint. When opened it was found to be a switch.

So a replacement might turn up tomorrow am, but i doubt i wiil get it fitted etc in time for the meet. If i do i'll give Ross a phone and try and meet up somewhere.

Really Fccuked off as this is the 4th cv order that has been wrong, although only the first from Fiat.

Hope you have a great time if i dont meet you, and watch those speed cameras.

Everyone know where they are going?

Coming from the south, take the first exit for Stonehaven, which comes back round underneath the dc. Continue straight on that road, (goes dc for a couple hundred yards then back to single), turn off at the bottom of the hill. Signposted for the castle.

You've got my mobile no anyway Ross if you need it.

Was told I was to work sat even tho I had kicked my cu*t in all week \:\/

It all went down hill from there, brake compensator is now fecked brakes are virtually no use , either don't really work or lock up which is pretty dangerous.

Just txted you H2pyr - dunblane doesnt have any services (unless you come off and go into dunnblane)

so i suggest we meet at the moto services where the m9 and m8 meet just outside stirling. You have to come off the m8 at the first sign for stirling then as you come off there is a big roundabout and its 1st left into the services

meet in the main carpark there about 9???

then we can hop straight back onto m8 and head north towards perth

We also have a Shell emporium should anyone need to refuel.

Well his car was fine when he left mine. Fitted with a new coolant reservoir cap so should be fine.

Nice pics TD, or Sev probably.

And hope your little one is ok Noel.

Great photies kev - have just changed the background on my works computer!

Great to meet you all - a very enjoyable blast it was indeed. unfortunately I now relaise i need to sell a kidney in order to pay for all the upgrades needed to keep up with you (plus might be enough left over to buy kev a turbo!).

Got back fine and the boy was ok but still not back to normal - kids eh!

took some photies and as soon as I get chance will post them up - couple turned out really well.

thanks again for a fun day!
