Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 24/02/2018 21:23

Hi, I spoke to a few of us last year when we went to the car show down in Worthing regarding Magnificent Motors over in Eastbourne. I go every year with my family.

It’s somewhat more organised, less Maxpower. Much more a traditional car show, loads of stalls to look around and rides etc for kids. All situated on Eastbourne Lawns.
Website magnificent motors has more info

Dates are 5th and 6th May and I’m guessing as it’s close will need numbers soon. 6th is best as 5th clashes with Brooklands.

Re: Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 25/02/2018 06:39

If the weather is good I would be up for 6th May. Individual or Club application?

Re: Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 25/02/2018 14:23

Count me in for the 6th.

Might be staying there that weekend anyway.

Re: Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 25/02/2018 18:13

I can do a club application for the 6th May. There’s usually a good range of clubs, mg, mx5, jag, Aston, muscle cars, etc. I’d need confirmed numbers, website doesn’t have closing date yet

Re: Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 11/04/2018 13:12

I’ve had a reply from Magnificent motors. Due to unprecedented demand, around 1000 applicants, we have not been successful first come first serve basically. Applications for next year open early Jan. will jump on it from then.
They are looking at making the area available for next year larger to allow more vehicles.

Eastbourne Classic Car Show, 4-5th May. Registration is now open.

Great show and venue last year the weather could not of been better, fingers crossed for this year.

I'm booked in for Sunday including the parade.

Hopefully there will be more than one coupe this year.

Re: Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 18/01/2019 19:39

Have you put an individual application in? Not a club entry?
Posted By: PeteP

Re: Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 19/01/2019 12:34

I have entered mine for the Sunday. (Its Brooklands on the Saturday)

Booked for Sunday
Posted By: Serg1

Re: Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 19/01/2019 19:32

Only booked individually.

If we meet and take part in the parade we'll be parked together anyway in which case we can put up our club flags.

Just had my booking confirmed. I’m off to Oz on Thursday so out of the loop for 6 weeks ( yippee!). Catch up after that.

Re: Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 22/01/2019 07:58

Chris, is Horsham going ahead?

Enjoy your trip down under.

Re: Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 22/01/2019 15:25

Not heard a peep but should be getting organised about 3-4 weeks prior to Easter i.e. about the time I get back. I will get email in Oz so if I hear anything I can post on the forum.

Re: Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 08/04/2019 11:10

I got my windscreen badge for this event in the post this morning.

It looks like we are with other post 1970 cars and will be parked on the Western Lawns BN21 4EQ.

The Cavalcade meet up point is Fort Fun car park on Royal Parade BN 22 7LU from 9:15 am, procession starts 10am.
Posted By: Serg1

Re: Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 08/04/2019 18:40

Got my one.

Best option would be to meet up at the fort, we can then head off together which means we'll have a better chance to be parked up together.

Re: Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 08/04/2019 19:09

I received mine in the post today. Good to meet together for the parade.
Posted By: Richie007

Re: Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 01/05/2019 17:17

I was going to suggesting meeting somewhere nearby say Prince William Parade. We can then all drive down to
Fort Fun. The car park in there usually gets rammed not particularly organised unless your in a club. So could end up scattered around the Western Lawns
Posted By: Serg1

Re: Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 01/05/2019 18:58

I'll go with any plan.

Can someone take the lead on this one before Saturday as I'm going down to Eastboune early Saturday morning so I might not be able to pick up any messages. Otherwise I'll see you all at the fort.

Re: Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 01/05/2019 21:28

Richie, for those of us who are not local, could you give us a good point on Prince William Parade that satnav will recognise please. Also a meet-up time pre Fort Fun.

We seem to be part of a very loose group of post 1970 cars on Western Lawns so it makes good sense for us be all together when we finish the cavalcade to have any chance of parking together..

Re: Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 02/05/2019 11:31

I believe it’s all double yellow near the entrance into the road near the roundabout so we could meet up on the west bound side on the yellow lines. You’ll never see a warden! I guess 9.15 and then head to Fort Fun

Re: Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 02/05/2019 15:51

Thanks, that works for me.

Looking at google maps, the Sovereign Centre Parking Lot with a post code of BN23 6HZ would get the satnav somewhere close.

Re: Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 02/05/2019 17:01

Just turn left at the Sovereign Centre, I would suggest there but front car park gets busy
Posted By: Thunderbox

Re: Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 03/05/2019 15:47

Peter and Richie,

I think I understand, we'll just aim for the Sovereign Centre and hopefully see one/both of you!! ( have at least one of your mobile numbers). The post code you referred to sends me to the housing area behind the main road. Did you mean there?. It can't be that hard, can it?- it's only a bl***y car show!!

See you on Sunday- enjoy Brooklands!
Posted By: Serg1

Re: Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 03/05/2019 18:14

If it helps I think you can see the fort from the Sovereign Centre, so it's close.

I see they want vehicle owners to dress in the era of their car. I'm alright my dress sense hasn't moved on since 2000.

Re: Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 03/05/2019 19:22

I don't think mine has since 1995 either John.

Chris, When I looked at google maps the post code put me on the main drag opposite those houses.

My mobile, holding down the shift key, is )&&&)&^*)^*

Re: Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 04/05/2019 08:37

I have had another look on Google Earth and there appear to be three sections of the westbound carriageway of Prince William Parade where the double yellow lines have been removed. Is that where you were suggesting Richie?

Also the Sovereign Centre car park is chargeable with a token purchased from reception (£2) to exit. Best all round if we avoid since at 9:00 am. all the 'weasels' will be there with their mummies and daddies for their swimming lessons!!

As for 'period costume', it looks as if it will be bright and cold tomorrow so I'll be in thermals under my Armani suit! See you in the morning.

Re: Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 04/05/2019 19:29

I think I will have to give this one a miss after all.

I feel knackered after a freezing cold day at Brooklands then in heavy traffic coming home and the thought of a couple of hours bank holiday traffic each way with another cold day in between is losing its appeal.

Hopefully I will see you at the next Departure Lounge "Italian Day" on Saturday 1st June.

Enjoy yourselves tomorrow and thermal underwear on!!

Re: Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 04/05/2019 21:39

I was going to park on the Westbound carriageway maybe 100foot or so away from the roundabout on the yellow lines

Hope you are feeling better Pete! It was a good event at Eastbourne and weather was dry which was a bonus smile

Re: Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 05/05/2019 21:22

Thanks Ashley, lots better, even mown the grass this afternoon and found out how my coupe front bumper got scraped yesterday.

A LHD 1963 Lancia Flaminia AFW xxxA carved me up by forcing its way into my lane going into the Brooklands Gate. I was stopped and didn't feel a thing nor notice the damage until today
James found the number from videos and photos posted on line.

Glad it was a good day for you all today, sorry to have had to miss it.

Re: Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 06/05/2019 08:41

You wouldn't have expected that sort of driving at such an event but maybe it reflects the attitude of some who feel they are a class ahead so to speak. Hope it’s a quick fix and good to hear you are feeling better.
Posted By: Serg1

Re: Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 06/05/2019 18:43

Shocking news Pete, hope the damage is minimal.
Posted By: PeteP

Re: Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 06/05/2019 21:55

Thanks John.
The damage doesn't look too bad but there is a crease in the side of the bumper about a foot above the ground from the wheel arch forward about 10 inches long, plus paint flaked off.

Re: Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 07/05/2019 19:12

Sorry to hear that Pete - bloody lancia drivers. Nothing worse than flaminia on your front end. That's why I try and keep my fulvia away from any flaminia.
Posted By: PeteP

Re: Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 07/05/2019 19:49

Made me smile Chris. smile How's your Fulvia doing?

Re: Eastbourne Magnificent Motors - 08/05/2019 20:48

I'm glad to say that it's almost ready Pete and very much on the last lap now. It's been almost 3 years of blood, sweat and tears (inc. 2 trips to A&E) getting the damn thing sorted. Just got to sort out where a million chrome bits go and get the windows back in. It's running more a bit rough, but not surprising given it's gone nowhere for so long. Never again that's for sure. I'll try and bring it along to one of the Alton meets once it's back on the road.
