Norfolk monthly meet

Posted By: Blueboyracer

Norfolk monthly meet - 25/04/2018 18:43

Who is up for meeting somewhere in or close to Norfolk on a regular (monthly) basis?

I have had some initial interest from a few forum users via PM.

Where might be a central location? e.g. Snetterton
What time of the month is best? e.g. Fourth Friday

Would be ideal if there was a motoring heritage link maybe , like the Ace Cafe in London for example, but not essential.

Re: Norfolk monthly meet - 25/04/2018 19:33

I'd be interested. I know there are quite a few owners in south Essex (Southend, Basildon and the more up-market areas like Benfleet wink ). Snetterton would be good, but it's a bit of trek from down here.

Our paths would meet somewhere near either Ipswich, Sudbury or Duxford.
And that is not considering that I (sometimes) live in a pretty central location like Thetford.
So this would move even more north when we consider forum owners in Norwich.
I may rename this thread Norfolk monthly meet given this.
Although a less regular Duxford meet sounds cool, check out Blitz the other day as we swung by wink

Re: Norfolk monthly meet - 26/04/2018 16:03

Having been speaking with Adam16vt there are approx 5 Norwich owners who have commented relatively frequently on a facebook page.

Plus a coupe between me and Norwich, but no one seen at a regular meet in the last 6 years.

I still think the forum is a great place to chat about and organise social events especially if regular.

But I will do some work on facebook to when I find out which Group/Page most Norfolk owners frequent.

Re: Norfolk monthly meet - 27/04/2018 14:43

The forum's about as social media as I go BBR!

But happy to meet up....if the rain ever stops!!

Fairly flexible as to where- can do M11/A12 if you want to include the Essex guys and anyone unfortunate enough to be in Suffolk :-)

Quite a few USAAF RAF bases around if you want varying locations to meet up. And Italia Car in the City.

I'm in. I met a local guy the other day who has 3 coupes, I don't think he's on here but he's well up for meets.

Nice one Alex I have been keen to see your Coupe after all the great work you’ve done.

Hopefully the other guy you’ll bump into again and we can get him involved.

I know how to contact him through FB. Also maybe have a chat with Luke and Kirk from italicar. They've got a couple in at the moment and know just about everyone in this area

Yeah sounds good. Either that or I was going to suggest combining a meet with one of the local car shows. Strumpshaw has one 3rd of June ( no pre reg required, just turn up)

Re: Norfolk monthly meet - 22/05/2018 11:06

A complete surprise MM - I thought it was a pokey little meet in a pub garden

How wrong I was - thousands of people attended - over a hundred cars and bikes on display - an auto-jumble, live band, great food and weather

Definitely on my list of annual gatherings now

Next big event I can find is the old buckenham air and car show 28 and 29 July. Sunday is the day to go. Requires pre reg and usually sells out fast but places still available.

Ashley Guerin. Met him in Halfords car park a few weeks back. He's going to try get it ready in time other wise he'll bring his inky 20vt.

I read the confirmation email this morning and you can transfer your pass to another vehicle if you decide to bring something else, which is handy.

Posted By: Master_Mariner

Re: Norfolk monthly meet - 19/06/2018 11:45

We have all started to gather en masse BBR- with the view of visiting on you as a large group, helping ourselves to the use of your ramps, and resolving all together your 16vt injector light issue!

lol - "Old Buck" may well be do-able - I think a regional meet is well due now!

I had better re-tax TRS- which I was going to use in a car treasure hunt sunday-until some 6th sense made me check everything and I found she her tax ran out last month-no reminder letter had arrived!

Will have to sort that this weekend!

Re: Norfolk monthly meet - 30/06/2018 05:50

Great news Gary.
This really is coming together, 6 coupes in one place in Norfolk, that's a first.

I've been doing some googling and found a handful of other events throughout August and September in Norfolk, some smaller gatherings and one quite big event.
I will post up a proper list later

Re: Norfolk monthly meet - 30/06/2018 08:18

Hi Sharman. That would be great.

I didn’t get to many events up North, but want to make more of an effort now.

We live near Ely so not in Norfolk as such but close by.

My car is midnight blue on a private plate so I should be easy to spot!

Re: Norfolk monthly meet - 08/07/2018 08:10

I've found 4 events in Norfolk in Aug and Sep. I will most likely be going to them all.

Belton classic car show, 04 Aug (sat)
No pre reg required and free entry. I've not been before but worth a look.
http://www.classicshowsuk.co.uk/classic-...ate.asp?id=1145

Cromer carnival 12 aug
No pre reg required.
Ive been the last 2 years, big event and worth the trip.
http://www.cromercarnival.co.uk

Cars on the close. Aug 26
Hosted by Italicar ( check their Facebook page for more info)
Luke and Kirk are massive coupe fans and have done some great part restos recently so it would be awesome if we could get 6 or 7 coupes there.

Car and bike meet (mid Norfolk shooting club) 02 Sep.
Looks to be a small gathering including a checkpoint run and then the chance to try out some air rifle target shooting.
More info to follow.

Anyone from suffolk, cambs, or north Essex feel free to add any events local to you

So only a few days till the first proper Norfolk meet.
My idea for the day is,, 3 of us coming from the North ( myself Ashley and MarkC) meet at the shell garage on thickthorn roundabout 8:30 ish.
Gary and BBR meet us 3 at Attlebourgh train station at 9am, from there it's only 4 miles or so. That way we all arive and get parked together.
I would recommend to bring a deck chair

Re: Norfolk monthly meet - 03/08/2018 06:30

Looking forward to "Cars on the Close"
Sunday 26th Aug - 11am to 4pm

Back for the fourth consecutive year, let's make Cars on the Close 2018 even bigger and better!

A celebration of all things Italian and automotive, Cars on the Close is an informal get together for like-minded enthusiasts on Renson Close, Norwich's own Little Italy. Almost uniquely, this one little industrial estate is home to 3 separate Italian specialists with over 90 years' combined experience; us here at italicar, Nick Harper and Richard Drake (see more about us all in our 8-page feature in Auto Italia Issue 269). There's never any shortage of rare and interesting Italian cars to ogle here, so it's the perfect place for Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Abarth, Lancia, Maserati, Ducati and MV Agustas and so many more to unite.

Once a year we open up the Close for any and all Italian car (and bike!) owners to show off their pride and joy. Unlike many car shows, there's no booking of spaces or being forced to hang around all day - just turn up, have a chat and enjoy being able to get up close to some eclectic Italian metal. Past years' attendees have seen the likes of a Maserati GranTurismo, Fiat 130 Coupé, Fiat 600, Fiat 500 Giardiniera, Alfa Romeo 4C, Fiat Uno Turbo, Lancia Aprillia plua the amazing Coupe Fiat and so much more - 2017 memorably saw a whole squadra of Abarths arriving en masse!

All makes, models, eras and conditions welcome!

Delicious complimentary pizzas will be freshly baked on the day courtesy of The Crispy Pizza Co with free refreshments also available.
