South London meet.

South London meet. - 14/09/2006 06:31

Anyone who is interested in meeting up on a Sunday morning/afternoon soon, 1st of October is actually looking pretty good (Provisionally - yet to confirm - is this date ok for everyone?) please feel welcome to do so. I think an excellent place to meet would be Box Hill car park as it is huge and has some nice long roads nearby which should be suitable for showing off, not to mention a huge pub down the road with reasonable priced beer and food (Drink driving not encouraged obviously). If somewhere a bit more open is desired then there's the Arkle Manor which is further towards Dorking which also has a huge car park and a mile and a half long road with no cameras. Or there's The Wheatsheaf on the A217 next to 'Romans' the car garage with Bugatti Veyrons and Ferrari Enzos. This is a 2 minute drive from the infamous Mad Mile (Local racing spot with no cameras). Anyway I'll wait to see what the response is before making any further arrangements. Who knows, we could even go from one to the other. To give you a rough idea, Box Hill is 5 minutes from Dorking and 10 minutes from the A217 (Sutton/Banstead). If you'd like to meet somewhere a bit more neutral (further out) then just say so. There's a place in Woking which has a Rolling Road which may interest some of you however a simple meet would be nice seeing as I haven't met any of you nor been in a 20vt yet - lol. Anyways what you think?

Any PM's welcome

Lloyd

Re: South London meet. - 14/09/2006 06:35

Oh and there's also a lorry park in Woking which is situated on an old abandoned aeroplane runway. My girlfriends uncle is good friends with the owner so this may be an option too.

Cheers

Lloyd

Re: South London meet. - 15/09/2006 01:06

I'd be interested...

Not in racing along the mad mile however as it's a) I drive along it every day :boring: b) racing along there is for boy racers in their chavved up Novas not for classy coupes c) it's a 60 limit d) it's actually illegal to race

The Wheatsheaf has a pretty small car park and is a particularly unglamourous looking pub...

The Dorking one sounds nice...or we could just hit the Flight Tavern again near Gatwick

Yes sounds good to me

If you can get me access to an old abandoned runway then I'll be there!

Re: South London meet. - 15/09/2006 01:29

Lloyd, if you want to organise a meet, you are going about it the wrong way, the coop owners on here could not make their mind up if they were asked if they want to sleep with Bella Emberg or Kylie Minogue or George Clooney or Benny Hill (thats just for you Vics) If you want a meet, you just come out and say right theres a meet at such and such pub on such and such date, who's going?

Otherwise you'll get Kevin saying hes playing football and can't turn up till after 2pm, Vics will be travelling somewhere, Begbie will be going out the night before, i'll say yes but then cancel closer to the time, Bockers will have some family commitments and each and everyone one of us will ask you to change the time and date and location, you'll eventually go mad with us, never buy a coop or even see one and thats the end.

So if I were you i'd start the post with meet 1st of October at Tattenham Corner Pub on Epsoms downs from midday

PS. we have had meets in this pub before, it has a huge car park, does food and is alright if you don't mind some of the rough faces in there

Re: South London / Surrey / Epsom meet. - 15/09/2006 01:39

Ooh Jim, that pub is chavtastic ...I'd go for the Rubbing House up by the racecourse ...bit of a longer walk for Emjay though

Re: South London / Surrey / Epsom meet. - 15/09/2006 01:40

Rubbing House then, I like it there, smaller car park though, see what I mean Lloyd

Is it coops only

Re: South London / Surrey / Epsom meet. - 15/09/2006 15:26

Well as it's just down the road it'd be rude not to attend (after Church, though - got to get my priorities right).

I look forward to reading the final details, and probably being unable to attend through something turning up at the last minute

No speeding/racing on any residential areas on my patch though

Re: South London / Surrey / Epsom meet. - 18/09/2006 15:14

I should be able to pop along to this one and then i can go horseriding afterwards as i only need to get to Tadworth....................but................ i may need a map as i havent got a diddly boo where you lot are on about unless its 1 of the pubs i ride past on a road (to which i have no idea what the name is) just off the big roundabout for TADWORTH,A217 TOWARDS SUTTON,M25 AND BOX HILL.

Is that the road/pub you lot are on about???
Posted By: Emjay

Re: South London / Surrey / Epsom meet. - 18/09/2006 15:59

The pub is right by the race-course.

When you get to the main stadium (where they have the concerts etc) take the Downs Road exit at the roundabout (keeping the race-course on your left (you will see the Derby Arms pub on your right)). Filter left at the lights (100 yds). Go under the (brief) tunnel and the pub is on your left (200 yds).

A word of warning for those coming up via the Langley Vale/Ashtead way, they have just installed a series of nasty speed bumps a mile or so before the pub.

Re: South London / Surrey / Epsom meet. - 21/09/2006 04:20

Just a thought, is it worth me seeing if the dent guy who came to Epsom last month would like to attend, he was pretty good and only lives 6 houses from me. Would there be any interest in this?

I guess he will want at least 6 or so cars to make it worth his while

Re: South London / Surrey / Epsom meet. - 24/09/2006 01:17

JimO, I would be very interested, fed up with all my car parking dents! Just need to sort out this oil leak, hoping it's just a lose filter!

Ta ta

Re: South London / Surrey / Epsom meet. - 24/09/2006 02:44

So for the dent man there would Emjay, Bockers, Kevin and mrc. I'll talk to the fella tomorrow and see what he says
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: South London / Surrey / Epsom meet. - 24/09/2006 13:19

I'll come along, may even come in the coop. However, if the dent guy is a deffo, then I'll come in the punto and get her nose sorted. If I get de-dented early, I could go home and get the coop

If we are de-denting, might it be an idea to get it done at Sainsbury's (more space) and then head over to the pub nearer to lunchtime to meet those not having their dents done?
Posted By: JimO

Re: South London / Surrey / Epsom meet. - 24/09/2006 15:14

A good idea, but too difficult to work out, sorry miss

At the Rubbing House he can always use the road outside if the car park is chocker, but I reckon the time we get there, we should be able to all go in the overflow car park and take that over or just take a whole corner of the car park and then people will just have to move cars as and when needed

Re: South London / Surrey / Epsom meet. - 24/09/2006 15:24

No worries. Is the dentman confirmed and what time is he coming?
Posted By: JimO

Re: South London / Surrey / Epsom meet. - 24/09/2006 15:25

Not yet, as I am still in my dressing gown, and I may get some funny looks walking down the road like that

Will I ask him to get there for midday?
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: South London / Surrey / Epsom meet. - 24/09/2006 16:42

Or maybe 11? Although given the time you posted still in your dressing gown, there's no chance ofyou being there then

JimO,

Oil leak fixed (I hope) dodgy oil filter! I'm coming down from NW London and I'll need to head back about 4pm, I don't mind coming earlier to see your dent man (maybe I could go after Vickster?), I’ve never done this before so I don't know how long it takes? What's the cost?

C u on Sunday, Mr C

Re: South London / Surrey / Epsom meet. - 25/09/2006 22:44

There is a paint man, who's a mate of the dent man...Jim, I'll PM his number if you'd like to sound him out

If this happens, I can see myself running backwards and forwards with my various tatty motors
Posted By: mrc

Re: South London / Surrey / Epsom meet. - 25/09/2006 23:23

That would be very interesting; I’ve got two long scratches and a small scrape! I've been wanting these fixed for ages.

Anyone who's coming to this meet want 2x 16v turbo (16inch) alloy wheel for free? They are in very good condition and are in my shed taking valuable space! Yes for free, Mr C

Re: South London / Surrey / Epsom meet. - 26/09/2006 15:40

OK the dent man is confirmed, he'll be there from about midday onwards, he is only going to be there for a couple of hours, but will happily do as much as he can and then take any names and addresses for work he does not get done. Cost around £20 - 40 per panel, depending on the amount of dents and work.

I am not organising this as such, so you can argue about the order at your own free will, although i will make sure that you go first Vics, as I remember how long you had to wait at Bluewater.

The paintman is yet to confirm, but he is harder to sort out, as he needs a power point lots more room and also will not be able to do anything on the Epsom Downs because of the wind. I may see if he wants to come along and talk to people and arrange something for a later date, but at the moment there is only mrc who wants work, so it will be just as easy to pass you his number

See y'all on sunday

Probably will be there, may not be in the coupe: It's a glorious mix of primer, rubbed down paint and untouched yellow on bumpers and sills at the moment.

What power does an S2 put out as standard?
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: South London / Surrey / Epsom meet. - 06/10/2006 01:16

Ok now you asked for it, some boring technical data :P

The early S2's (like mine) are called 3B's. They push out 220bhp, 230lbft and make use of a 5 speed box.

The later S2's (93 onwards) are called ABY's. They push out 230bhp (as they are heavier) and 260lbft, but they also make use of a 6 speed box.

Now mine is chipped it is pushing between 270 - 280bhp and 310lbft.
