Scottish Italian Car Day 25th May 2008

Scottish Italian Car Day 25th May 2008 - 05/01/2008 21:15

I haven't heard or seen anything regarding this yet but have emailed the organisers to find out what is happening. If its anything like the past years it will be the last Sunday in May at Craigtoun Park, St Andrews.

I'll probably go but its more for meeting other coop owners rather than the actual event - lacking organisation in my opinion but here's hoping this year may be different \:\)

Re: Scottish Italian Car Day 25th May 2008 - 05/01/2008 21:21

I'm likely to be offshore if not running around like a headless chicken getting ready to go offshore.

If I'm around, however, I shall be there.

Agree the 'event' isn't up to much really, but it is good to meet everyone and it's a good day out

Re: Scottish Italian Car Day 25th May 2008 - 27/02/2008 18:35

Hi Guys

As one of the organisers of the Scottish Italian Car Day for 2008, I can confirm that the event will be taking place again this year on Sunday May 25th at Craigtoun Country Park near St.Andrews.

We appreciate that a great many coupe owners attend this event and would love to extend our invitation to you all. The event grows in popularity every year and this year looks to be better than ever.

We shall do our best to allocate parking areas for specific clubs/forums as we do most years. If you wish to email me nearer the time to let me know exactly how many cars are attending, we will try to get you a big enough space.

Looking forward to seeing you all on May 25th.

Thomson = most commonly known as a cheating diving wee prick with little or no right to breathe. Can usually be seen mimicking a cowardly little poofter crawling along the grass , which me thinks he does rather well, maybe to well!

OK guys in all seriousness, i think i might me good fun to have a mini concourse at this meet. There are a lot of member s who take a lot of pride in the appearance of their cars so some recognition and a bit of friendly competition could be a good laugh!

I'm prepared to organize some trophies, rosettes, etc for the event, but would like to know if people would be interested in it or not? Obivously my cinq and Ross's car wouldn't be allowed to compete (not that Ross's could win anything...)

why dont we all enter and get the public to vote on the best looking , cleanest ,shine ect ect all it would take is someone handy on a computer to print off some sort form so they can put the reg of the coop they like the most in the different catogories or something like that \:\)

The problem with the public vote is actually getting enough of them to do it, and they tend not to chose the most deserving cars!
CC usually do a few catogories, we could follow the same sort of idea.

categories could be;
Show and shine Winner - decided by judges, overall smartest and cleanest car.
Car of the show - everybody who enters votes on the coupe that they would most like to take home (not their own)
Best Engine bay
Best interior /upholstery
Best body work/paint work
Best engineering

OK cool, so some interest then!
I'll look into trophies/rosettes.

The good thing none of the cars are trailer trash, they will all be driven to the show, so everyone should be on a similar boat. (no bringing your boat kev...)

Is there a car wash nearby?

It might be worth getting there a little earlier so anybody that has travelled from a distance can spruce up their motors.

If its bad weather on the way up, they'll look more like we've been following a rally on the back roads \:D

In my experience there's always been an entry fee. Think it's about £4 per person but if you have an Italian car you get to park up nicely and if not you get sent to the car park out of sight.

Ross probably just blagged his way in last year, or hid in the boot or something...

does get you extra points on the exterior catagory.
;\)

It doesnt matter what condition peoples coupes are in, they are all competing together, not against trailer trash.
There are 5 catagories and you can only win one. So if only 5 people enter, every ones a winner!!
Theres no entry fee or anything, you just have to give it a clean and hope for the best!

On a serious note here, the club has given us a budget for this show. So we are gonna make the best of it by organising smart trophies, that will recognize the hard work that you will be putting in to clean the coupes! \:D

Also, are we allowed any BBQ's at this event? If not, would anyone be interested in a BBQ or going for something to eat locally? Get to know each other better. I always find the biggest laugh at these events are just sitting down chatting over a table. \:D

Let me know what ya think.

\:D
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Scottish Italian Car Day 25th May 2008 - 20/05/2008 22:23

No chance!

There are five in total

Best engine bay, best exterior, best interior, are all similar - although for what ever reason the trophy place sent a bigger one for best exterior- must have ran out of the other ones.

Car of the show trophy is similar to the above only on a larger scale

And finally the Pièce de résistance , the overall winner is completely different and came in a nice presentation box.

All are engraved - Incase you forgot what you won \:P

The judging will begin at a certain time (still to be decided) with all entrants being judged on all catagories. The forms for car of the show must be handed back before the judging finishes. The trophies will be presented shortly after the judging finishes.

And no, they don't cost more than a car either...not in Malaysia atleast..cars are expensive stuff there while you can get one that moves for less than £500 here!

Good to hear on your recruitment work Rob \:\)

Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Unfortunately, a friend of mine and 'custard's with a supercharged Sud can't make it as he's waiting for a set of pistons.
Now that would have been a convoy worth being in ;\)

Thanks for the kind thankyou's everyone.
Ive complied a quick list of where cars were placed. Ive just put the last three characters of the regi plate so people can see where they came. Welldone everyone who got placed but also those who entered, cause every car was very well turned out - it made the judging very difficult! If any one want more info on their own cars detailed feel free to pm me.

I hope those who are listed don't mind me mentioning them, the only form I'm missing is Kelvs (he must have kept it to plan for next year ;\)

Will hopfully be doing the same again next year, i can imagine it will be even harder as everyone will know what to expect.

Great day guys and girls. Its good to meet everyone again and to have made new friends.

Big thanks to everyone involved, Ross and Alaina especially for organising this and also for pointing out on what can be improved on the car. Well done to all coopsters who showed up today and demonstrated how much more exciting we are as a community compared to the alfa's parked next to us! \:D

Matty, it must have been a bad radiator day or something as mine was also leaking! Thanks to Angelo for pointing out my empty header tank and Rob for checking it out for me. If it wasn't spotted and filled up before the judging, Alaina would have deducted my points for an empty tank for sure! \:D
Glad your dad enjoyed himself today Rob and thank him for me on the sandwich offer ;\)

Nice to have met Hubby and his enthusiastic and supportive dad. All the best on your coop ownership and hope to see you on the forum alot more from now. \:\)

Alaina, I didn' steal the form! You handed it to me! \:\)

Can I also suggest that we mount our FCCUK banner vertically next time. I think most people had the impression it was a picnic blanket rather than a club banner \:P
There should also be a rule next year against the usage of WD40 \:D \:D

Re: Scottish Italian Car Day 25th May 2008 - 26/05/2008 11:54

Well that must rank as one of the best Scottish meets yet \:# . The weather didn`t look to promising on the road up but when we got there it was glorious . Nice to meet some more new faces and Coops too (I thought my engine bay would do ok till Hubby popped his bonnet up next to me \:\( think I need to get polishing \:D ). I must say that the show and shine competition has brought out the competitive streak in me now after coming 3rd in three of the sections ,can`t wait till the next one now.

I think we must have been the next best turnout after the Alfa`s as the field seemed a little sparse in comparison to the previous years (probably due to the Crail event drawing away all the smaller FIAT`s)

Big thanks to Alaina and Ross for organising the competition and also the Club for helping out with the awards too .

And congratulations to Kelv,Rob,Kev,Matty and Barney on winning their trophies,I think the competition is gonna be stiffer next year though \:D .

Baz \:\)

OK now have Kelvs results (sadly) and it wouldnt be fair not to include where his positioning would be.

For all those who didt hear the rules. I employed a rule that you can only win one trophy. The reason being ive been to shows before that one car has taken all the trophies and it really leaves a bad taste for the event. This way allows for more than one winner. \:\)

The trophy was very much unexpected and therefore all the more appreciated. Car was prepared by Graham of Custom Detailers following Sparkyman's recommendation. Kev and Tartandude great photo's. I like how you've called mine the beast, very fitting.

tartandude i like the irony of the closeup of the tow sticker on mine too. Not been used just yet mind you.

Very good photo's boys.

By the way Dakota Hotels(there are two in Scotland) are part owned by David Coulthard.

Quite right Barney. Think I was just lucky to walk over to the tent, when this was there. Managed to get a couple of happy snappers with my wee boy beside the car. \:\)

Those were some quality pics you posted up mate, well done, and I have to agree, the wide shot was quite impressive.

Baz, I'm lovin' the personal touch . Coz I had the kids there, I didn't get too much of a chance to mingle, so it's good to actually put a faces to the names/cars so to speak. Well, you know what I mean!

Have to also mention hubby's dad, Ian. What a good job he did with the camera, and was well impressed that he was so eager to get involved. Enjoyed chatting with you Ian, and hope to meet up again soon hubby, you're only just up the road anyway.

Can't leave anyone out, so last but not least, Kevcrab, you posted some awesome pics, and although I voted to take Rob40's car home (blinded by a well modded engine, and a really cool bonnet vent) I have to say that your car looked absolutely superb. \:#

Good effort from everyone, and hope to see some more pics from the rest of you soon.

Don`t think so,I had a chat with the owner of the company that had it there,he owne`s/runs the company which services the super cars which are part of the club, He said that it`s not for hire as it is so valuable and impossable to to fix/replace.
He also said that they were trying to get one of the current gt racing ferrari f430s to sit beside it as some of the styling of the 430 is taken from the tr61.
