Re: Cars in the park 20th April - 08/03/2008 19:22

Can you tell us anymore about that event Paul \:\? I had a poke around that site but didn't learn much

why can't we take a bunch of coops up there \:\?

I was thinking of arranging a coupe meet at Bolton abbey this year anyway (and still will do if this comes to nothing) One of my favourite places Would be a geat place for a coop meet for those who are not out and out petrol heads. river walks, cafes, ruined abbey, stepping stones, steam train, and a short drive to Skipton. a lovely market town with some great pubs and of course the canals and narrow boats \:\)

Re: Cars in the park 20th April - 08/03/2008 19:29

thing is past few year when we have being, before hand its said you need to put your name down etc, but thats just mainly for the tvr club that goes and the lambo club etc as there lots of them, the space is large, when you turn up theres a very lot of space massive so would be no problem parking together anyway, you can still contact them on the site, couldnt see there being a problem tbh, its like £5 to park and you park with everyone anyway

hope that helps

Coop meet - Cars in't park 20th April Bolton Abbey - 16/03/2008 03:27

OK this sounds like a great meet. As I've posted before this is one of my fave places and I always thought it had great potential for a coop meet

These guy's take that idea and do it on a bigger scale \:o What Chris does is reserves parking for 300 to 400 cars and organises the event through his web site. The only fee is the usual 5 quid entry fee that Bolton Abbey charge.

I registered on the site and put us down for 10 cars (but that can always be changed) At the moment there are a few Lotus Elises and exiges registered, Grinnal Scorpions, various TVR's and a Skyline.

Here's a vid of the last time it was held at Bolton Abbey (cars in the park 2006)
sh!t just listen to those engine notes \:#

I just hope it's a bit drier.

anyone interested \:\?

I've been in touch with the guy that organises it and registered as came2dance for 10 cars (subject to variation - lets make it more) \:D dogs are allowed as are children, but remember it will be busy and noisy in the alloted meet area, what with people revving up lambo's and what have you \:D

The parking is just acres of grass parking but a BIG area has been set aside for the car meet. The organiser likes to mix the cars up i believe but if we all turn up at once we should be able to park together.

I'll ask him about a reserved space as we have a club banner \:\)

Lets have a proper list of definates. Copy and past and add to the list:

Re: Coop meet - Cars in't park 20th April Bolton Abbey - 13/04/2008 01:38

Hey I'm working on this guys. \:D

I have emailed the organiser and he will group cars together if we want. I have registered already for 10 cars (it's on page 8 of the lists if you are looking) but I have emailed him and told him we will be arriving in convoy. There's loads of room so it won't matter if we have more than 10 I've also asked him what time it starts.

The Maccies is only about 15 minutes away and it would probably be more liike half ten before i get there. \:D (tho you can get there as early as you like and fill up on bacon macmufins \:D Will post more info when I have it.

Typical, he just emailed me as I was typing this

He gets there at 10:00 and most cars arrive by 12:00. The meet goes on untill about 3:00, but you can of course leave whenever you like (earlier or later).

I'll try my best to get there for 10:00 then ;\)

I'm off for a poke about the site now. Will post again with more info shortly \:\)

Re: Coop meet - Cars in't park 20th April Bolton Abbey - 13/04/2008 04:20

Right then lets meet 10:00 to 10:30 ish at the Macdonalds HERE

My route will be M6 north J24 to J31 Join A59 Stay on A59 through Samlesbury and Gisburn and on to Skipton and Bolton Abbey. Will be about an hour to the meeting place if anyone fancies tagging along

You need to go to THIS site and download the CITP sign and put it in your window. Follow the link and then click the CITP link in the column on your left. I will print some off with the FCCUK logo on too and bring them with me. If you want I’ll add your forum name so everyone knows whose car it is (let me know if you want this)

It will cost you five pounds to park. (We will probably stay there all day but the fiver does allow access to three different car parks).

As for the meet – for those of you that have never been to Bolton Abbey it takes place on grassland adjoining the river. Acres of space with plenty facilities. Once we’re parked up if you imagine the road going down to the river and forming a T junction with it, you could turn left and there is a café and restaurant, gift shop and toilets about half a mile away.(if you keep going there are miles of riverside wooded walks to the ‘Strid’ a mad place where the river has carved it’s way through rock). If you turn right there is an amazing ruined abbey about half a mile away, and if you go back up the road about half a mile there is a nice old tea rooms and café that does nice food

Dogs and children are allowed and a lot of visitors bring footballs, canoes, dinghies, tennis sets, barbeques, etc.

There are a couple of speed bumps and on the exit those metal plates that go down as you drive over them. no problem at all to a std coop and the Lambos and porches seem to manage \:D

That’s about it.

It will cost you five pounds to park. (We will probably stay there all day but the fiver does allow access to three different car parks).

You need to download THIS and display it in your window, but i'll bring some with me to the meet. With your name on too if you let me know.

You are supposed to read the meet rules so I've posted them below:

1) The Abbey is a quiet place so sound levels need to be kept to a reasonable level. Other car parks will be open to normal visitors and will be quick to complain. So stereo's must be kept low. Anyone too loud will be asked to turn it down. If it continues they will be asked to leave.

2) The exit gate has a metal spring thing on the way out. It's meant to stop cars coming in through the exit gate when closed. It's not bad just makes a noise when you go over it. I have a few notes from people about a suggested alternative whilst it is not approved of by me or Bolton Abbey. People have been known to exit using the in gate. Care must be taken if you accidentally take the wrong lane as cars may be coming in. Might be a good idea if you have a lowered car ;\)

3) Once inside the venue speed limits must be adhered to. There are sheep and ducks as well as kids running around. There is one speed bump, but you can straddle it. Just go slow!!!!

4) Speeding inside the car park kicks up a lot of dust if it's dry and sunny (Fingers crossed). You will be lynched as people have taken hours polishing there cars

5) BBQ's are allowed but tin ones must be put on stones as it damages the grass (Takes a few years to recover). There are lots of stones near the river but please return them when finished.

_________________________________

It has been raining a lot lateley and the meet is on grassland adjoining a river so sensible footwear might be in order. you might want to pack a waterproof jacket too, just in case.

Oh, and don't forget to wash behind your ears \:D

How about M6, Junction 23 as a start point again Chris? \:\)

Re: Coop meet - Cars in't park 20th April Bolton Abbey - 17/04/2008 16:35

Where do you come from Craig? Heading for J23 adds about 15 minutes to the trip as you can cross the lancs at haydock and join the M6 Northbound at Ashton. (cutting out a big dog leg of East Lancs and 1 Mway junction) How about metting at what was Birkhills Café at car mill if you know it, or the Waterside pub/hotel oppsite. Say 9:00 \:\)

Phew at last - I've tried to post this reply half a dozen times and the forum keeps goofing up on me \:mad\: Just like it used to KJ \:mad\:

Junction 24 IS easier for both of us but I wasn't sure if anyone else was travelling northbound and wanted to meet up too?

If not, then Carr Mill Cafe's fine for us - blimey I can even remember having a brekkie in there back in the day! \:D

Kev -glad you could make it \:\) We’ll be taking the A59 at J31. There are a few places you could meet us. We go up the hill on the A59 then take a left and I'm sure there is a hotel there. Then again a bit further along opposite he Aerospace works there are a couple of pubes with car parks on the front round about here

Last list of names I saw was:

Came2dance (Chris and Lesley, and probably dog)
MattW

MABR & Mrs MABR
paul26982 & mrs paul26982

and I've done signs with our names on for everyone on this list (cos I'm sad like that \:\) ) except for Ben/Yellow as I assumed this was 20vtbmx (apologies if i'm wrong)

Will add Busa1300 and the SEICENTO. The Seicento one says "when I grow up I wantto be a 20VT. and Paul, I've changed yours to "My other car is a 20VT" \:D

Nice to meet some new faces as well as old friends. Nice selection of cars and even Steve from AA put in an appearance with his yellow Ferrari. \:#

Beautiful surroundings and hopefully the next one will be blessed with better weather - this time last year the temps were in the mid 60's. \:o

Thanks to Matt for the DV and Chris for the car signs, directions and general shepherding. \:D

Re: Coop meet - Cars in't park 20th April Bolton A - 21/04/2008 03:19

Well all in all it was a good meet. Good to meet everyone. Great venue and a good turnout Shame about the weather \:\( My pics are uploading as i type so will hopefully include them at the end \:\)

I didn't get to chat much as everyone dissapeared! We took out dog for a walk and had a coffee and a sausage roll at the cafe with Samspeed (he ate all the pasties \:mad\: \:D )and as we walked back everyone was leaving \:o was blooming cold though so I can't blame them!

Paul good to meet you -
don't be shy in future. You would have sold half your coop bits had peeps known who you were \:\)
Your barge looks fine too, although at the meet I though yours was the red convertible I was thinking "why's he missing the coop when he's got that" wondered how you fit your missus and little one in there \:D

Eldinho, was you there \:\? According to the left over CITP signs Jap, Beany and Phil 20VT didn't make it. But according to the posts Beany and Phil were there don't know if i met you guy's, sorry.

Bigtop glad you got your problem sorted. Bit of a bummer that - being talked into coming, then it's freezing, and you break down on the way home \:o all character forming \:D

My pics are still uploading - blOOdy slow his photobucket re-sizer will post them up shortly \:\)

Phil was arriving just as we were leaving and I was trying to keep up with a Noble, a Ferrari and a TVR! \:D

Re: Coop meet - Cars in't park 20th April Bolton A - 21/04/2008 03:35

well we enjoyed the day out saw some nice cars there.
bit of paranoia before thinking i was gunna have to pay out loads on my car already, but turned out ok and it seems to be running better now(maybe just imagining it)definately seems quicker.also the rescue man said it wasnt a standard dump valve,so who knows what else there is to find out!
was cold today tho, roll on summer!

Re: Coop meet - Cars in't park 20th April Bolton A - 21/04/2008 03:38

Thanks for doing the signs Chris, and thanks for the coffee Craig, I owe you one

Good to see some familiar faces, and some new ones.

What a waste of time it was trying to clean my car, it got covered in mud by a tractor as soon as I left.

Tractors have been conspiring againt me today °\(
