Scottish Christmas meet/meal - 18/10/2008 06:12
As my new role as club rep for the south of Scotland i`ve been charged with organising a wee Scottish Christmas meet and meal
.
MattB had suggested that we could have it down my way seeing as the last couple of times we`ve been up in Aberdeen,so I was thinking maybe somewhere in Ayrshire and maybe a wee drive along the coastal route (but I guess it`ll depend on the weather
). I`ve got Kim looking into a couple of places for us to have a meal but i`m open to suggestions of location/drive
.

I was thinking for one of the weekends either side of the 200sx Vs Coupé RR session. So that would either be:-
November 22nd/23rd or December 6th/7th.

Either of those dates are possible at this moment in time, any later in December and it would be very unlikely.

Sorry chaps,me computer has been down for a few days! Im deffo for this one! Depending on shifts as per lol! Baz suggested Eliiots in Prestwick or its sister restaurant in Troon ,Scotts. Both city centre quality and top notch food and surroundings! Scotts is located at Troon marina and has lots more parking spaces than Elliots. If we get a date firmed up I can do the bookings in person if thats any help Baz?
Oh just thought, the Harbour Bar at Dunure is very good ,and its on the coast good driving route too!!

Re: Scottish Christmas meet/meal - 20/10/2008 18:16
Well how does Sunday,December the 7th suit everybody?
Scotts might be the the better one then if it`s got more parking
,and depending on the time we`re eating we could go for a drive along the coast either before or after the meal
.
That`ll be
if you if you could pop in and book it too Paul
. If we maybe give it to the end of the week to see if anybody else fancies coming along that`ll hopefully give us a choice of time for the meal
.

Can we get some kind of trophy/plague as it seems an appropriate time to award this person, for all her years putting up with the crap patter and his flatulence problems (age) she has had to endure through her life(yes her parents where right about him)
On the lines of a lifetime achievment award but better and more sought after.

Re: Scottish Christmas meet/meal - 25/11/2008 14:30
Hello
Right, here is where I am with regard to making it up to Scotland...
I really would like to visit and put a face to your wacky forum names, the only hindrance I have is the potential of the weather to change.
My plan would be to travel up via Leeds on the 6th, visit my daughter who is at Uni there, and then continue up North and find somewhere to kip for the night. Stay overnight after the dinner, traveling home first thing Monday morning.
A great plan unless we have several inches of snow dumped on us! So I don't really want to commit until about the 4th or 5th.
Also, who can recommend somewhere for me to stay? A reasonably priced B&B close to the venue would suit me fine. Or, if anyone can offer me some space I am not opposed to a bit of couch surfing. I am house trained, (although my Husband would disagree) and come with my own sleeping bag and pillow
Any suggestions gratefully received.
Julia

Julia,
If you want, I've got a spare room in the flat.
and it rarely snows in Glasgow!
That is a very generous offer, thank you.
I'll be in touch next week when I can confirm plans.

It is looking increasingly likely that I will be able to join you on Sunday, assuming the weather holds.
I finished the 2nd proof for the calendar this afternoon too, so all things being equal I should be able to bring some calendars with me too
After a very long drive on Saturday to get to you all, I probably won't want to go for a jolly drive on Sunday, but I would like to be a passenger in someone's car if anyone will have me. I can read a map the right way up if that helps.
Any offers?
Julia
p.s.
A sensible question about what to pack. I know it will be cold, but will the restaurant be warm enough to wear a dress or will I need to dress head to toe in thermals?

We do have heating and electricity up here.... some of us who are really priviledged will have something magical called TV...
Anyways, better safe than sorry tbh, as it can be bitter up here!! The restaurant might be warm enough but you might not be able to get the chill out of you when your there!!

Me or him, I really meant we will convoy from Kelv’s via t’airport to pick you up. Who’s car you end up getting in doesn’t really matter. Although my car is currently a 2-seater and possibly I’ll have Kev reading pace notes.

It`s a bit of a detour that route Dave
.
I don`t think I would be able to join you along there seeing as I`ll have a hard enough time waiting on Kim getting ready for 11am never mind a couple of hours earlier for that route
.
Be careful on the A75 though as it`s religiously patrolled by the traffic police.
