Brooklands convoys - 23/04/2010 05:51
I've put this as a separate thread to identify and list *confirmed* convoy meeting places and times, so they don't get lost in the clutter of the main thread.
Please post here *only* if a convoy, its starting location, and time to meet is definite, or to add your name to one of the convoy lists. Use the main Brooklands thread or PM to discuss the actual details - this thread is just for reference.
You might like to cut'n'paste the format and layout below...

I'm going to cut across from Worcester and join the M4 at Swindon Junction J15. It's saves fuel and cutting back on myself from Worcester.
Anyone know the nearest services from here going East?
I'll speak to Joe and other local's to see what they are doing but this is a good point for me. Perhaps we can arrange a pit-stop at the nearest services (to check oil)

Membury Services would be closest.
I'm thinking of joining at J12/Chieveley as well. I need to get a ticket on the door.

I'm coming down the A34 and Skinflint has PM'd me this morning to say that he is meeting at Chievley too. Should we focus on Cheiveley - the advantage is that its one service area for all directions so it will be easy to meet people coming from different directions without a massive detour.

M4 people - according to Googlemaps its about 1hr-1hr 15 from J12 (Chieveley Svcs) to Brooklands via M25/A3 depending on traffic.

Jame5, how about if somebody phones you when we are x minutes away? I think a Satnav set to go to Junction 8 would give a pretty accurate countdown.

The Bristol lot above aim to be on the M4 by 7am, its a long stretch to cover Bristol to Chieveley in 30 mins, an hour is probably more realistic at borderline legal speeds.
8am at Chieveley is probably most realistic.

Thanks Neil. I'm convoying from Cambridge with a mate who has a 156GTA, but also have to swing via stansted mountfitchet to pick my dad up. So an 8am meet up at Hemel might be a bit too heroic for me, but I'll see what I can do.

Where abouts at Clackets Lane are we meeting?
Service Area Car Park or Fuel Station (the natural home of a Fiat Coupe
)
I take it it's the west bound side (southern side of the caridgeway) you'll be meeting at
I would look a right plonker on the other side
Posted By: cyborg7
Re: Brooklands convoys - 30/04/2010 20:24
Shall we say @ the fuel station as guessing there's quite a bit of room there. (or at least migrate there bang on half past ready to go). And yes south side clockwise definitely. See you all there.

Cyborg and all,
I have realised that there is a long drive between M23 and getting back round to the Clackets Lane services
can someone
please call me on ? when you're passing junction 6 and I'll come up the slip road and tag onto the end of the convoy. Can someone acknoledge this request and take my number with them and either PM me or respond in some way so that I'm not left sitting on the A22 for ages wondering if you've gone by or not
I'll check the forum before I leave tomorrow.
Thanks, Ross.
