London Tunnel Run 31-10-10

just seeing if there is any intrest in a tunnel run in london , will be an early start in east london then heading to west london via the tunnels and some well known sights of london then off to the ace for breakfast .... anyone ?

it will be worth the early start marco , have done afew with pistonheads and the tvr club and they are a great crack but the roads need to be clear so we can all stay together for those that don't know london very well but i will put together a route plan just incase people do get lost and there will be meeting points along the route for everyone to catch up and regroup .

I don't know London well either and i'll have the slowest car there!

its not a race duncan just a nice cruse threw some tunnels in london and the regroup points aren't that far apart so we shouldn't lose anyone and your have a route plan too if you do get lost .

A very fun morning, well worth getting up at 5.30 for. Top marks to nismo for organising

Quick highlights for me;
The TVR stalling pathetically on the first filmed tunnel run, in full view of an audience of workers in a nearby office (I saw the smirks!). Wonderful noise when you did manage to get it moving though
The smell of James' clutch in the same tunnel
About 8 laps of that square trying to reel in all the lost coops.
The welcome gatecrashing by the noble. My favourite sports car. Must write that letter to santa

I text Nismo at 4:30am this morning expressing my annoyance, it wasn't a lame excuse.

It was only 90 miles from Pompey to centre of London but didn't think I could make it in 2 hours! .. Even with a lead right foot.

Hopefully Nismo will organise another one soon

well, I was looking at the time indications that Google calculated which was 2hr 8min.

going by that, I couldn't guarantee to be there for the 6:30 start. I've not driven into London before so assumed this was a good indication ??

You'd have been fine, there's no traffic really that time of the morning. I'd stayed with a mate in Richmond, 15 miles away, google said 50 mins, I did it in 35, without breaking any speed limits

Besides, we didn't get away 'til 7.15

Great day out - many thanks Nismo for the organisation and the patience to wait for everyone when we got lost . Lovely to see a) the Noble , b) the rear of the TVR almost catching up with the front and c) some enthusiastic Coupe driving.

My first ever effort at a drag start was completely - missed 2nd gear! I'm sure that will show on the vids... The breakfast at the Ace was ace.
