I am probably bring totally dim here, but what happens when you arrive? Would this just be a visit or would the coupes be displayed?

I quite fancy bringing the sprinty along so any advice gratefully accepted.

When you arrive if you don't see any coupés ask one of the marshals where the FCCUK stand is, they will then direct you but it'll probably be under Concord again.

I've decided I'm going to make the effort to attend this one this year.

It's my weekend off work and I'm pretty sure I'm off from both jobs on the Friday too, due to the royal wedding.

I need to check work, but I've provisionally booked a hotel room for the Friday night.

It's a four hour journey each way for me, which I don't fancy doing in a day.

About 6 hours each way for Rob at AA Routeplanners time, but you could probably halve that time for Rob

We hadn't planned on the club getting them, the admin time and costs would be relatively high and would not save anyone any money.

The best bet is to buy them directly at a discount from the Brooklands Museum shop link on their website.

I've had an email back from the organiser and he has said that the tickets have already been discounted, so no further discount is available I'm afraid.

Worth a try, but at least we know now, so you can go ahead and book your tickets now. Don't forget it's £2 cheaper per adult if you book in advance, rather than pay on the day.




Not far away from Brooklands Begbie: Shepperton

Busy road Theresa, and I'm not sure where thay have got their parking. Not right by the hotel I think.

It says that they own some land opposite I think Pete.

There is not much land there between the road and the river. Years ago I worked a couple of hundred yards along the road and parking was always a problem.

Have a look on google maps http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&tab=wl TW17 9HX and then click on streetview.
I can't seem to copy the image, but there are half a dozen spaces sandwiched between the road and the river.
Harrisons is joined onto the Ship Hotel in the image, between the Ship and the Red Lion.
The blue people carrier is in the carpark.

I wouldn't leave my car there overnight.

I haven't looked yet Pete, as I'm on my phone, but it's not sounding good

T, there is a premier inn in Cobham, which is a lot closer to Brooklands, literally a 10 minute drive. Currently £39 if you book online

I thought Premiere Inns charged per room not p/p, works out £83 for me and Sofia

I've just had a look Rob and put in 1 adult, 1 child for the Friday night and it's showing as £39 for a family room, so not sure where you're getting the £83 from?

I have now cancelled the Shepperton one and booked the Premier at Cobham.

I was originally looking for a Premier Inn, Travelodge or similar, but couldn't find one around the area, but maybe I wasn't looking as far as I should have been.

I'm much happier booking the one I have now, as I know what to expect from the likes of Premier and similar.

The Shepperton one seemed to be the most suitable for me when I was searching, but wasn't sure about it. As it was free cancellation, I went ahead and provisionally booked it, but it's now cancelled.

Thanks for pointing out about the parking, etc at Shepperton Pete and to you too Begbie, for the Premier in Cobham suggestion.

I was going to change my mind and stay over on Saturday night instead, but they only have rooms available for Friday night, so am sticking with that now

There shouldn't be a problem getting on the stand frary, there's enough room for all of us.

Maybe they put that in, to stop people turning up at times like 1pm and expecting to get through the show when it's at full swing.

You can order them online through the Brooklands Museum website for 12 pounds per adult, but tomorrow is the last day you can do that due to the postal. Otherwise its 14 pounds on the day on the door.
Ive always pre-ordered mine though, then you can just drive in a give them your ticket on the way in, simples as they say.

There should be a few convoys meeting up at various places, i'm jumping on the M40 at High Wycombe, if you or anyone else is coming that way we could meet at beaconsfield services and convoy in from there.

I'm planning on bringing my large format camera along to Brooklands if the sun looks like shining. I'll only have a limited number of shots (perhaps ten in total) but if a nice coupe or two should catch my eye... black and white, *very* high resolution (300+ megapixels).

I'm not taking bookings, it depends on what I see on the day - but I might be asking you to move your car out of the crowd for photography.

Well, I spent a couple of hours cleaning, polishing and waxing my Coupe this morning.
I arrived at the hotel about an hour ago and the car is black at the front from all the splattered insects
Not cleaning it now though, I'm having a pint

Payed a visit to halfords this morning, got myself one of there medium car covers, only £40 and a good fit too. After spending 7 hours cleaning there's no way i'm leaving the birds to use the coupe for target practice! For the last few weeks every time i've wash it the next morning it's covered in sh*t!

Excellent day as Paul says - other than the (predictable) third degree burns to my neck (again)

One plus from the "terrain" we were parked on was that with one flick of the wipers I literally meant the words "eat my dust" to the R32 that wanted to practice the art of carriage weaving on way back

A very enjoyable day, a good drive round the Mercedes test track and a blast up the hill climb

Good to see faces old and new. Nursed the car home with its ever increasingly juddering brakes. The front discs are looking like the soil in Sudan

Was an excellent day

Was having a brilliant tussle with a Skoda Felicia (new type I think). Don't know what's in them, but it was going and handling well.
I had to back off and then let him go past eventually, as I was extremely low on fuel and still had a distance to go before I got to a petrol station
He was probably wondering what was going on when I backed off
I need one of those scrolling signs, I could have explained to him then, that I'd have loved to have carried on, but I need petrol and am going to be stranded if we carry on the way we are

A good end to the day, with a lovely sunset on the way home

Was lovely to see the usual people and great to finally meet some of the ones I've 'known' on here for a while, but don't think I'd ever have got to meet if I hadn't travelled down.

I know there was also a lot of people I missed and never had chance to meet, but hopefully, will do another time and I'm sorry if I didn't make it to you.

Something to do with the feed to the fuel pump is the best me and the pickup guy could come up with... I'll investigate further in the morning, since it's supposed to be at Stoneleigh in Staffs. in the morning.

What a cracker of a day Met some great people, saw and heard some great machines and wished the day had been a bit longer. Thoroughly enjoyed the test hill and track events. Had a fun drive back round M25 with a ferrari and a couple of other fiats which rounded off the day well. Thanks to Tim and Rob for the welcome this morning.

Great day out - had some fun with a Diablo and an Integrale on the M25 back to Kent which just finished the day off nicely.

Many thanks to Jake as well - put me to shame, but taught me a few bits as well .

What a day! Although it's my first Brooklands without a car I still enjoyed the day, but not so much the sun burn LOL. Got to meet a few guys and had a butchers over the engine bays

Hah. Quanturbo is back in the good books again, sort of...

What happened was an odd chain of coincidence: boost pipe blew off and as far as I can see walloped the ECU/engine connector hard enough to glitch the fuel pump power; that spiked the fuel pump fuse... weird!

Wow!! What a day. This was my first meet and I can safely say that I enjoyed it immensely. Only one bad point was that I got sunburnt. So I am now officially the colour of a cooked lobster .

Was great to finally meet the people that I have been speaking to on here for over a year.

I think I'll bring my own food next year though .

Brooklands 2011, what a day, great turn out, nice weather (except the dust bowl ) new faces and the regulars

Jake has got videos of the Coupe hill climbs so he'll get these posted up later, just on our way out to the Quantum kit car so another busy day planned.

This was my first trip to Brooklands and we had a great time, even the wife enjoyed it. It was nice to see so many good coupes and their owners.

Thanks to Begbie for meeting me in Guilford and showing me the right entrance, I'm sure I would have ended up in the wrong car park otherwise.

Great day, good to meet up with you all again... After the meet and a nice blast home, with Antony in his, I think my Coupé love is returning

according to my dad, its a late 40s Vignale-bodied 166MM (Mille Miglia)with a 2 litre V12 engine.
Somewhere in the region of 150bhp but on a very light body.

Superb day out! 420 miles and not a hiccup from the coupe. The misses was waiting for it to breakdown or something fall off No faith in my mechanical skills.

Was trying to ease the new mrs into the whole concept of being interested about motors, etc. without looking like a total nerd. She had a good day out (so I'm told) so next time I'll be a little more sociable!!

Brooklands is a tricky one there's so much to see you never get enough time to say hello to everyone. I only spoke to a handful of people and there was over 60 coupes there! You'll have to come to one of the Ace cafe meets, there is always a few us there and we always spend a fair while chatting and having a good nosey at each others cars.

I keep saying im going to come to an Ace Cafe meet one day, just sometimes on a Thursday I finish work late. Must try harder. Hang on ive heard that before.
