Dunno what all the fuss is about it was a mere 316 mph average!

Who thought up that name?

Looks fake to me. rolleyes It's accelerating far to hard beyond 300mph, if it was real the top speed would be 370+. We all know how the coupe top speed only creeps up that last 10% and the wind resistance at 150 is nothing compared to over 300.

Or was that just a low speed test run they did for some other reason?

Maybe it's a unit conversion error, 331 kph perhaps (206mph) seems more reasonable

Where's Trappy with his top speed spreadsheet thingy? That car is apparently 1750 BHP and 1247 KG,

How did they manage to make it sound like a Ford Mondeo from inside the cab? Ok, a Mondeo with enormous turbos. Presumably the flat plane crank??

I've fudged a few numbers as I haven't found the full spec. Gearing is a mess but I'll take a look again later thumb

Quality forum response cool
If I was doing a 300mph run I’d be sure my seatbelt was secure well before touching the loud pedal.

Trappy you need to make an app where a person puts in the known figures and the app presents all this complete information to them! Have you considered doing that?

If I could make one, I would have. I've had a spreadsheet that does it since 2008! Plenty of people have told me they could do it but it amounts to nothing. Maybe I do need to speak to a profesional who could make it work...

So what are the absolute minimum figures that you need to know in order to get a result?

Also, are you able to apply your spreadsheet data in order to work out a theoretical best lap time for any given track?

For example, can you work out what a totally standard 20VT would get on the Top Gear test track?

These are the minimum requirements. Back in the day, I used to ask people on here to fill out these numbers for a car that had printed road test data (Autocar for example) and send it to me. That way I could run the calculator and send the results back to see if it matched. I didn't want to know what car, just to test it. No one bit cry

It's nowhere near that sophisticated! That said, the guy that developed the website I got the idea from did do it. He built a simulator but didn't share it. I actually spoke to him a bit a few years back. Can't remember his name now and can't find it in emails. I'll see what I can dig up thumb

Found it!

Brian Beckman's Physics of Racing Series Fill your boots developing a spreadsheet that can incorporate all of that laugh

There was another guy called Tom Stickland that produced a spreadsheet that went almost as far as my calculator now does. I contacted him to ask how he did a few things but he wasn't interested at the point it seems. I've overcome all of those issues now anyway.

Not any more then don't..........

Shelby yesterday said the data proves they were a little short of 331mph and the record is at this time doesn't stand.
