Hi,

I've got 1996 Fiat Coupe that needs its sills replaced. Any help advice appreciated. Firstly I'm trying to find some places that might do it. I spoke toone place near me in Cheltenham and they were a bit depressing in terms of cost. Obs I expect it not to be cheap. I'm guessing that some people have had their sills replaced. Who did it, approx how much was it and was it a good outcome.

TIA

Callum

If you have further questions about your coupé it's useful for respondents to know which model you have; to display this navigate to your forum name top RHS and from the drop-down menu select Edit Profile/Add Avatar smile

Hi,

The model, colour and year were set in my profile, but it was missing Turbo, so I've added that.

The link is useful to a point, I won't be doing the work, either a garage can do the work or it won't be done. Useful to know there are sills available, though.

Regards

Callum

It looks as if you have navigated to the Profile displayed when clicking your forum name to the left of your posts.

Go to the top right-hand-side where clicking on your name (in blue) will reveal about 11 options, first of which is Preferences, next being Edit Profile. Scroll down and your will see "Avatar" - you can choose the appropriate option there smile

I bought one of these sills last year to be held in reserve and can confirm the profile is a very good match though cutting and welding into place is a different matter. Is your sill shot completely or is it by the rear arch so you need a patch repair?

OIC, It is the same profile from which ever direction, I didn't understand about the avatar - I just entered text where it asked. TVM

Interesting. I chatted to Joe Knight from FCSS and he said he had seen one of the sills and agreed the profile was good but he said that "the coupe has a slight radius to the sill front to back and these are fabricated straight" so they didn't quite fit properly. :-(

I think mine is worse than a patch repair. frown

I think you will struggle to get a perfect fit for any aftermarket panel TBH. I've been looking at an Alfa 916 spider resto and the garage has to fettle the sill into place which does the job. A 'didn't quite fit' is probably the best you're going to get and let a competent body shop work out the fine details. Good luck thumb xmas
