Clocks ticked over 150,000 this morning.

Not bad for an old fiat. Also not bad as 12 months ago it nearly got scrapped due to dreaded rust bug!! Even went as far as test driving some lotus’s fearing its demise!!

Does show if you do spend a bit of money on these old girls now and again they do keep on going!! It’s certainly not showroom but still makes me smile, here’s to another 50k!!

inky goodness!!

I don't think high mileage kills a car usually, but rust does.

Not really a coupe specific point, but it never ceases to amaze me that in the UK everyone seems to think that used cars are about to explode or fall apart as soon as they reach the 100k miles mark.

I've bought plenty with that mileage or higher that have been looked after well, and they've all done well for me, with significantly less depreciation than something with 60 or 70K on it that'll be kept for a few years and 20K miles or so.

smile

I think the 100,000 miles and done comes from a lot of the shite BL and Vauxhall punted out in the 70's and 80's? I reckon some of the current more modern stuff from 2002/2006 onwards will not stand the test of time either and that includes Mercs, BMW and Audi's. Poor materials and engineered 'planned obsolescence' should do the trick.

Definitely worth looking under the carpet in the boot now and again!! Mine had a few spots when I bought it, ignored it and then a few years later the rear pan nearly fell out!!

Guessing decent oil and filter now and again certainly helps with the high miles!! Also letting joe at fcss look at it now and again!!

You get to know the engine ‘sound’, when it changes she’s trying to talk to you!!

inky goodness!!
