Looking to fit a set of these from an x 2000 to my coupe only to find there not a direct fit. Has anyone tried fitting these to an older model eg 1999?

The bolts spacing on the plus runners at the front is the same as the original mountings on my coupe floor but given that the rear is narrower as some people may have noticed they will not be a straight fit.

The only option I can see to get them in is to use the old subframes taken off the old seats.

I have the plus airbag recaros in my '98 coupe although I didn't fit them myself I thought they were a straight swap.

I did fit LE recaros to my '99 coupe myself and those were a straight swap, but that was just swapping the top part and frame, not swapping the entire seat where it bolts to the floor.

Yeh I thought so too but turns out there not. Ended up using the subframes off the old seats and bolting them on top although had to drill a new on one runner on each seat.

Graham I'm curious to know how yours are fitted?

I had the same problem. I used the old subframes as well, but found the driver's seat too high for my liking after that.

I then had some new flat subframes made of 6mm thick steel and this did the trick. Better driving position when sitting behind the wheel and you sit in the seat rather than on it.

Well worth the 25 euros they cost.

Henk

thanks Graham looks as though ive done the same. I had to drill one hole on the outer runners which allows you to bolt directly into the old subframes captive nuts.

How do you find the driving position? ive maybe got about 1" headroom.

Too high, but that's the same in every coupe I've ever sat in, with cloth, leather, LE or plus recaros. With a sunroof my head is against the roof, without a sunroof there's a little clearance.

I'd like the seat at least 1" lower but it's not possible without cutting and welding the floor. I've considered removing the runners from the drivers seat and bolting direct to the floor but never got around to actually trying it.

It is possible. The old subframes are about 1" high, my 6mm new ones then put the seat about 2cm lower.

@Rosso: There were two made, one for each side. Simply used the old ones as a guide to get them to fit the mounting holes of the car and then used the original bolts. If memory serves me right I only had to drill one new hole in them for the new seats. Fairly easy to do.

About 1" lower would be nice although will see how it goes. Ive got about 1" of clearance from my head so should be okay but it probably be a better feel to the driving position 1" lower.
