4 Years ago my partner reversed her Punto into a parked car and damaged an Audi TT wing mirror. She admitted fault so it was left in the hands of the insurance company to do whatever insurance companies do. At the time she answered all the relevant questions and never heard another word about this matter until December 21st. She received a letter from the other parties insurance company solicitors asking for costs to paid for the mirror, plus expensive and 4 years of interest to be paid within 7 days if not ledge action will quickly follow plus additional charges. Due to Christmas and New Year shut down it wasn't possible to speak to anyone until today. It appears my partner's insurance company hasn't paid their bill after repeated requests to do so, so they decided to put the frighteners on her to pay the full amount plus interest and expenses which now total £502.00, original claim was £78.00. Tomorrow I'll ring their solicitors and inform them very clearly what they can do with their letter also point out it ruined her Christmas.

Her main concern as a director of insurance company any insurance issues will be noted and might affect her standing as a Lloyds broker. She now plans to take this matter further and report both insurance companies to the FCA.

Bastards! I assume you both know far better what to do about this, but is it worth going to the financial ombudsman? A few years ago, we received a 'final demand' from Orange for full payment of 12 months worth of a mobile contract which we'd never agreed to. Some little harlot had taken it upon herself to set up a contract without us agreeing to it. They never sent any paperwork out, we never had any account details - it was the first we had heard of it. Long story short, we went to CICAS and received £400 compensation pretty quickly.

Good luck!

My experience of the ombudsman is that they are useless and operate to a set of guidelines that they make up as they go along (literally).

FCA sounds like a much better bet.
