What are your ferry times Simon?
Posted By: Edinburgh

Re: Viva Italia april 9 2017 - 18/11/2016 08:13

NCL is a 1700 departure arriving at Ijmuiden 0900 Saturday morning.

Return is 2200 from Hook to Harwich, gets in at 0600.

Where do most folk stay?

Re: Viva Italia april 9 2017 - 18/11/2016 08:52

That's a speedy visit and return if you're on the Sunday boat back.

We stayed at the camp site last year, it's comfy with an excellent shower block (50 cent coins), stands a chance we'll book here again.

It is possible to do a parade lap , this means driving behind a pace car and is actually meant to explore the circuit not at full speed, ordered online costs 25 euro, track time costs 40 euros , ordered online , for 20 minutes , there can also a Coupé only session being booked costs , 1850.- euro , but we should get at least 40 participants on the circuit to make it a affordable , cost than 46.25 euros for half an hour.

Can one take two passengers on the parade lap? and presumably one doesn't need helmets for this?

I'm up for a coupe only session smile

Great! April 9 is bang in the middle of school Easter holidays so I might be able to bring both sons along and stay 2 nights for a real "boy's weekend" wink Except that passengers have to be 16, although I don't remember them checking anything last year?
Posted By: Edinburgh

Re: Viva Italia april 9 2017 - 09/12/2016 14:05

They'd be ok on a Parade lap at least?
Posted By: DaveG

Re: Viva Italia april 9 2017 - 09/12/2016 17:35

Yes they will, but younger non-driving son is not such an enthusiast (yet) so we'll have to see

Re: Viva Italia april 9 2017 - 10/12/2016 10:01

If you let me know in time that you cant come , one week before the event i have to give them the numbers of coupe,s that will be on the paddock.

That sounds awesome Dave , and yes they have to be 16 to be a passenger at the track time , but the checking for going on the track is not to hard, put him an helmet on and he looks 18 smile , alternative is the parade lap also 20 minutes without an helmet.

I've yet to get back to them about this.

Been looking at alternative sites, also b and b in Assen....

Right, this area seems to be booking really fast, so consider myself lucky to have found a nice place in Assen, B&B28, which doesn't seem too far from anywhere/anyone so still plenty of scope for socialising!

I looked at several other Campings and B&B's in the area here
However a fall back was going to be Hotel de Jonge, a Best Western, which doesn't look too far away from the circuit.

Best to get this sorted soon I think, I got turned down by a few that were full already.

I just booked a 2 bed apartment for Saturday and Sunday night at B&B Het Loshoes in Nijlande, just off the N33, SW of Assen, not far from where we stayed last year. Done it this way to avoid an anxious late afternoon Sunday drive back to Calais for a night ferry, last year it was touch and go as to whether we'd do the last track session or not, so it will be more relaxed this way.

Hope you are feeling better reben (René)!

Hi René,

Yes that sounds great, thanks for making the reservations

Edinburgh x3 please smile

Do you know if it's possible to hire helmets at the track for my daughter and fiancé?

Also (to everyone) would anyone have space to take Chris as passenger for the parade lap?

As for the track sessions I'll be able to take Emilia for 2 and Chris for 2 as it's only one (helmeted) passenger per car. The other one can be making the movie laugh

Re: Viva Italia april 9 2017 - 29/01/2017 14:47

Is the Coupe only session still a possibility?

Also I see they do discount entry fees for club members on production of a Club Card smile

Edit:
But the option doesn't seem to be available on the booking page......sent them a message.

Checklist:

1.Entry ticket 16e (12e) p.p.
2.Paddock parking 6 per car
3.Parade 25
4.Track session 40

+Coupe only session.....?

Yes the Paddock tickets who i will send as pdf file you need for the discount, as soon as i have them i will send them to you , if i have the numbers i can look for the Coupé only session, need about 40 to make it affordable , it kost about 1850,-euro to rent the track for that time ,with 40 Coupé,s it will kost 46.25 per car

Re: Viva Italia april 9 2017 - 30/01/2017 12:40

Based on last year there may be a limit on how many track sessions there are (there were only two last year, luckily I bought only two) but of course this year we have the event to ourselves, no non-Italian supercars!

I was planning to buy two sessions, if the Coupe-only one is similar (one passenger only) then I'll do the same as Edinburgh (1 normal session, 1 Coupe only) but if the Coupe-only session is more of a parade lap, then I'll keep to 2 normal sessions.

And René, please include another 3 for the meal (one more son coming this year)

The Coupé only session is not sure , because of the numbers of Coupé,s i need for the run. as soon i have the numbers i let you know.

And yes it is Italian only this year

DaceG youre on the list

You can get youre clubintreetickets , the paddock tickets are for free for oure club , like last year you don,t need to wait for the club code anymore, i forgot :(, they had changed it last year.

I just need to give them there the numbers of the participants that want to park at the paddock.

Greetings René

Simon is the club participating this year as our own group or is René sorting names, tickets etc?

Re: Viva Italia april 9 2017 - 31/01/2017 15:35

This is what I've been trying to ascertain Joe.

As I understand it René will sort the paddock tickets for each car.

He's sending a pdf for us to fill in so we can get entry discount (from 16 to 12 euros for members only I assume, not for those "along for the ride" laugh )

We book our own track time - DaveG wondered if there might be a limit like last year, but if there are fewer taking part should one assume there's scope for more track time? Personally I'd like my passengers to get a couple of sessions each which will mean 4 sessions for me. (Or maybe one of those will be a Parade to get the feel of the road).

Re: Viva Italia april 9 2017 - 31/01/2017 17:43

I thought the club was playing a more active part this year with Viva 2017 chinny

If not then maybe let Rene take the reigns and we'll follow his lead like last year.

Just my tuppence worth smile

Re: Viva Italia april 9 2017 - 31/01/2017 20:00

Thxx Joe for trusting me , if its alright with the others.
The only thing you need to buy are the time track , clubintree and parade tickets , how many runs we have i can tell you when i have the info from the Organization , i think the Coupé only session will not take place, the Dutch guys seem to be scared to go on the track with the coupé :-), if it changes i let you know, i have also to contact our German friends, so i hope the forum will not be of for to long ,i will be posting on the Facebook page from you, if important changes coming up to keep you up to date , greetings René

Re: Viva Italia april 9 2017 - 31/01/2017 23:56

That's ok René I trust you too - I'm clear now that we buy

-Parade
-Track (when we find out how many sessions we're allowed)
-Club entry (when we receive your pdf)

Cheers and thanks for all your assistance thumb

Hi René,

Emilia and Kip both take the same helmet size as me, 59-60 smile

Oh and they were quite keen on doing some outdoor Karting on Saturday midday en route from IJmuiden to Assen, it's here at Pottendijk c.45 mins east of town.

Anyone want to join us?

We should be off the ferry by about 9, so allowing 2.5 hrs and a coffee, we're talking around 1200 hrs.

Re: Viva Italia april 9 2017 - 14/02/2017 08:31

I bought a helmet last year at Halfrauds for the kids to share (one passenger only remember) for a reasonable price £24, used it at Snetterton too smile

Re: Viva Italia april 9 2017 - 16/02/2017 20:27

Tomorrow I will send the club code the participants per PM, you can purchase the clubintree tickets a 12,- euro online and at the track 14,- euro, max 2 per car, it’s possible to take part at the parade lap and track time also, these tickets you can purchase both online on there site, next week, I'll be sending the paddock tickets per pdf to the participants you just need to printing it out, and put it behind your windscreen. If you didn't receive the club code, please let me know.
Just waiting for the answer of how much track time this year is available , keep you posted

It's great news for me that Jake can join us again this year Rene, he's worked hard at Uni since you last saw him so it'll be nice to have him as my co-pilot smile

As for where, when and what we do when we get over, no idea at the moment, I'll assume we're check in at the hotel, freshen up and then go to yours then the restaurant.

I think our plan is to get checked in on Saturday and then head over to annoy Rene in the afternoon, he's got a tidy power washer so we can have a car wash meet and convoy to the restaurant smile

Re: Viva Italia april 9 2017 - 08/04/2017 06:55

Well here I am at Eurotunnel Folkestone waiting for my train. Had a mild panic last night, battery was dead and when charged, the CODE light was on...

I had been testing the water injection (found out flow meter not working) but must have left ignition on...

But after an overnight charge...all seems ok, Assen here we come!

Re: Viva Italia april 9 2017 - 08/04/2017 07:23

We've just set sail.....hooray!

Sledgehammers and nuts don't have a look-in after yesterday, we missed our 1700 ferry at Newcastle, drove asap to Hull for the Zeebrugge departure but only got as far as York before they told us we wouldn't have a chance of being let on frown

Having got this far there was no way we were giving up the chase so continued to Harwich, booking for the 0900 ferry which has just left rolleyes

On the way, Emilia was taking a much-appreciated spell and the injector light suddenly came on, followed by battery light as it lost power, coasting into a parking layby conveniently close shocked She immediately thought she'd done something wrong but on popping the bonnet and checking levels etc I couldn't see anything obvious. Tried starting again and the injector light went off, all worked smoothly till now thankfully. A momentary electrical issue confused

Determined to see this through!

What time is the restaurant booked for René?

Re: Viva Italia april 9 2017 - 08/04/2017 20:37

Great to meet up again with old and new, lovely welcome and dinner (a bit late wink ) at the atmospheric Cafe Hingstman, wooded surroundings, delicious food and plenty of it, attended with excellent service smile

To add to the mishaps, I brought the wrong part all the way from Scotland for DaveG, who unwrapped it in front of Jake who had actually wrapped it 2/3 years ago laugh

Then the power to the widget and windows which failed as we were leaving one of the many ferry ports we'd toured was diagnosed and fixed by Joe just looking at it ....

What is next?? A sunny day tomorrow at the Cathedral!

What a cracking event, hats off to René and all of his team for the effort and warm welcome. I've now got a second "kid" convert cool Emilia had a great time and enjoyed meeting everyone.

Our return journey was smooth and uncomplicated just like the outward one (not) and there have been one or two "casualties" along the way but hey the glass has always got to be half-full!

Track time was awesome and the time I invested watching footage of last year's sessions really helped. Emilia posted a bit of video footage on FB which immediately provoked one or two comments about "drift" which I'll need to attend to laugh

A couple of pics I liked....

Re: Viva Italia april 9 2017 - 11/04/2017 12:08

A special thanks has to go Rene and Mirjam for making all of us feel so welcome, Never have I been to such a welcoming event and welcoming people. The stand Rene went to the effort of sorting out was great, the meal was great, the after event food and meet up at Rene's & Mirjam's was wonderful.
To any one who hasn't attended this one the vibe is.., different to any other meetup I have attended, relaxed, fun, and amazingly well organised and put together.

This year the weather was very much on our side, the track was well catoerd for, reasonably priced food and drink with out this tokon crap I have seen, The toilets were kept clean and loads about (important for people like me)

Any how, back in the UK after 1000+ miles in the coupe, not a hint of an issue, no coolant loss, oil use to speak of and actually pretty good on fuel all things equal.

I hope to meet up with every one again, it was great to see Simon and dave, Simon, The level of commitment you showed to making it there is remarkable, that was a trip from hell!

Hope to see every one again in June! I need to sleep now, getting back at 2:30am was not fun!

Re: Viva Italia april 9 2017 - 11/04/2017 19:54

Thanks from me too (and my sons Tim and Ben) to René and Mirjam for being such great hosts once again. The meal on Saturday evening in a local pub/restaurant was more relaxed than last year, with very reasonably priced food. Sunday started cool but the sun shone all day long, shame we missed half of the first track session but I'm sure we'll all pay a bit more attention to the timetable next year. Compared to last year it was less crowded, with no non-italian "supercars" and no Gumball cars either, but it seemed more personal as a result. I must have spent too long talking or watching the parade laps and not looking at other cars because by the time I went around, many had starting leaving early (from 3pm onwards) which was disappointing. The Ferrari/Lambo parade was a bit odd: lots of cars hanging around on the grid for an age, then once they started the lap, nearly all of them came in straight away and very few actually carried on driving around. Also the general parade lap had very few cars (unlike last year, when it was rather too crowded) and it was virtually a cut price track normal track session. So some lessons to be learnt based on the scale of the event.

But the final track session made up for that, what a hoot! My top mounts have gone, leading to some clunking initially on the track, and making for some entertaining handling on the way home! I'll get the video up eventually, but here are some pics:

Re: Viva Italia april 9 2017 - 14/04/2017 09:22

Massive thank you to Rene, Mirjam and all involved with organising another excellent event at the TT GP circuit. This year was quieter but imo better as it was purely an Italian day so lots of talking cars, new faces and happy smiles meeting the guys we met last year.
In true style and as nirmal I broke my Coupé, gearbox failure which meant I had to leave my LE at Rene's, thank you bow
I travelled back with Reuben and Sam Monday night, thanks guys, Jake having the uncomfortable VXR rear seat, worked Tuesday and then headed back to Europe on the 6am Wednesday ferry with a customers Coupe to drop off in Germany and then headed North back to Assen to collect mine, Hook back to Harwich yesterday at 2pm and lifted my LE up on my ramps at 2am this morning, not fixing it this weekend, really can't be ar**d, everything is where it should be so that'll do for now laugh

It's been another manic long trip but I'd do it all again tomorrow, enjoyed every minute smile

Photobucket file for Viva Italia 2017.

They're still loading so check back later this afternoon.

Jake is also working on the video footage as I type so a link will follow.

Re: Viva Italia april 9 2017 - 14/04/2017 19:32

Thxx Joe , The event was Italian only this year after a few years in combination with supercar Sunday , The reason why people left that early i think it had to do with going to work the next day, last year it was on Pentecost, i had the luxury to have a day of :), i think it will be growing as an event . Hopefully next year on a better date, however the weather was awesome and we had a great group on the paddock and on the track, thanks again making the effort to com over to the Netherlands , i enjoyed every minute of it.

Re: Viva Italia april 9 2017 - 14/04/2017 20:39

For me it was perfect timing as it was right in the middle of school and uni holidays, however some time in May would be fine as well.

Much as I liked Spa and especially the track, this event was more manageable and concise, with plenty of room for driving.

I am going to call my mascot Mirjam smile
