Car cover recommendation

I'm taking the car off the road today and without having access to indoor storage it's on my drive with the following cover on it:

If anyone's thinking of doing something similar I can recommend this cover certainly on the fit at least. The coop is fully covered with only 25% of the wheels exposed. Dunno how it will cope with the winter weather but it came out on top on a recent Autoexpress review so should be up to the job

Storm force ! Great cover but expensive!

I've had a Halfords cover on a Mini for the last 18 months and it seems to be holding up pretty well. Going a bit green now but still keeping the car dry. The only problem with it is that it is being used on a proper Mini and the Small size is far too big! I have one for my Coupe too but haven't used it much as I try to use the car at least once each week.

I always worry that movement of the cover in the wind and rain will scratch the paintwork. am i wrong in thinking this?

I haven't noticed anything particularly. I think it is important to make sure the car is polished before using the cover and obviously that it is clean and dry when covered as dirt could easily lead to scratches.

Ive been using that same Halfords one on my coupe for 3 years now. Still doing a fine job. gone a little green lately, but I plan to try it in the washing machine soon and see what happens.

Have to say, I've had the Halfords cover since Jan 2017 and I already feel it's lost it's edge. Don't get me wrong, I agree the fit is pretty damn good, and especially for the £50 I paid, but when it rains I find the car is soaking wet underneath. That's why I decided to put it away for winter a few weeks ago.

I researched car covers at the NEC Classic Show last Friday. After duscussions with several suppliers/manufacturers I reckon that a cover from the Hamilton Group (hamiltongrouponline.com) is the way to go. They recommend their Moltex 'Sports Car Large'. This is not cheap (£170) but what value you car?

You're probably right and I was tempted but I needed a cover just for this winter so wasn't too keen to be forking out that sort of wonga!

I looked at the Hamilton covers at the NEC show last week too. Certainly looked impressive but at that price I would probably consider a specifically tailored one.

I think apart from bird lime there is no point to a car cover and don't see the point especially with freeze thaw conditions in the near future.

It helps stave off the UV rays and slows the degrading of the headlight lenses....

It also leads to luffing and marking, water marks etc all over my machine polished and waxed paintwork causing me to get the DA out again, puddles of water that dont dry out quickly in various locations on the car..despite the breathable bull it doesn't breathe fast enough (much like GoreTex if you are a walker it is next to useless) and have you tried using the car when the moisture freezes and sticks the cover to your body work?....I dont have a Speed Pink Coupe so UV has not impacted on my Sprint Blu to an extent that is noticeable, I do wax the car a lot though. Lights good point they have suffered but don't take long to polish up again.

I use this one to cover my track day Coupe when its on its trailer (I also have their "hair net" to stop the cover ballooning at motorway speeds).

Driving through absolute torrential rain in France earlier this year the car remained bone dry (even at (cough) French legal towing speeds (cough)). The cover obviously gets wet, but drys really quickly, though they do not recommend putting it in the washing machine.

They are a bit expensive, but very good. The indoor softcover is absolutely fabulous I actually want to wrap myself up in it some times its so soft and cozy!
