Turbo on it's way out - Need advice on new one - 09/10/2017 13:26
Hi all,
My 1998 20VT will be needing a new turbo soon. Can anyone recommend or advise on garages/costs, should I fit a standard or (as it has to be done anyway) look to something with more performance?
I've had one quote on a refurb one but looking for any other advice or options.
I'm in the Basingstoke/Reading area. Any advice welcome :-)
Thanks, John

If you have a standard one refurbed then make sure it has staggered seals.
You could then go for a remap, that would open a nice bit of added power.
Or have a hybrid turbo. They come in different power stages, but use the same same turbo housing as the standard one.

Before you think about an uprated turbo consider your clutch, especially if its an original standard Valeo as it'll probably start slipping when re-mapped.
Universal turbos offer a rebuild service along with Vince at Turbo performance, or the cheapest option is by way of fitting a new turbo cartridge.

I've used AC Turbos in Skelmersdale several times now - good company, decent advice, quick postal turnaround - packaging was amazing!
