14 years with Adrian Flux

14 years with Adrian Flux - 25/07/2017 09:19

I have been with Adrian Flux for 14 years. When I first bought the Coupe my insurance was £1,000! Fortunately, this forum prepared me for that.

Anyway, this year my policy is £380. This covers:

Fully Comp
Agreed Value
£500 excess
3000 miles per year
Personal and business use
Kept on public road (in case too lazy to put in garage!)
4 years no claim

Apparently, all polices have gone up by this year due a government levy.

Sounds very similar to mine, also with Flux. I need to get an agreed value on mine though!

Re: 14 years with Adrian Flux - 27/07/2017 04:04

I guess agreed value impacts and not sure if standard but 3000 miles pa for £380 seems quite steep to me? Staying with the same broker has never proved financially worthwhile. I guess business use doesn't help.

Re: 14 years with Adrian Flux - 27/07/2017 09:14

I shop around each year but seem to end up back with Flux each time.

Business use bumped it up by about £60 and the agreed value was about £35 IIRC.

I don't imagine additional mileage wouldn't make too much difference.

Footman James wouldn't insure me for business use!

Just been quoted £317 for 3000 miles value at £5500 (not sure if thats agreed) with all mods declared parked on road!

Just waiting for my current providers quote, was 5000 miles all mods declared definitely no agreed value and £240 this is with glynwood now called something else hope its better than Adrian's

These two were quite close last year so am wondering how much the government are taxing us now on top of the tax

Just rearranged Mrs Ed's insurance with Academy (Glynwood) as they were charging the same for her Seat Mii (999cc) as I pay for my coop rolleyes

Now got hers for half that.

Quote in from Glynwoods £243 comp with mods declared compared to Adrian Flux at £317 but with like for like modified parts replacement whatever that really means

What does anybody know about

Salvage retention excluded?? is this the ability to buy back and break for spares if car is written off in an accident? as parts would be worth more than the value of the car

Dont mind but depends on the value paid out as i don't think i can get an agreed value with Glynwoods, can you haggle with market value to a representative replacement in my case about £5-£6 k or will they just say its worth £2k tough luck

Also that price is now without the breakdown cover that was included last year

Any thoughts

No, Glynwood now refuse to offer agreed value, even though the classic car policy is with ERS.

This is the same ERS that's doing me an agreed value, but with Classicline crazy

Tried online quote with Footman James almost Double
Classicline wont quote online due to the mods so will ring tomorrow

Re: 14 years with Adrian Flux - 05/10/2017 18:49

Might be because I selected Ecu chip modification 25%+ increase in power

Will ring tomorrow

Does anybody else have any suggestions for a modified coupe worth trying?

I've used Skyinsurance for a long time now. Always been competitive for me

Re: 14 years with Adrian Flux - 15/10/2017 07:15

I just use an insurance comparison cashback site and the cheapest 'best' classic policy, with no agreed value etc. This year for 3000 miles, fully comp £67 after cashback.

Re: 14 years with Adrian Flux - 15/10/2017 09:34

Well my previous insurers quote was a bum steer
Now with Adrian Flux for £340 all mods declared 5000 miles garanteed value and parked on the road
Sky insurance were £360 didn’t go into detail
Classic insurance were not interested

Anyway I’m really not happy with my previous insurer
I have declared all my mods when I took out the policy and have just been renewing with them each year since 2013,
Last year price suddenly dropped didn’t think anything of it, whilst querying my quote to renew again as was £100 cheaper I asked to check that the mods were up to date to my horror to discover they had left some of them off and when corrected Would not insure me I pushed them and they admitted to having all the information but no idea why some of them were omitted considering I repeatedly renewed with their auto quote (so already having my info on file) could of been an unpleasant experience if I needed to claim
Another lesson learnt to check everything!

I do with all my other insurance needs just cannot with this due to the number of modifications!
Also get my cinema codes each year with the site I use to!

Re: 14 years with Adrian Flux - 16/10/2017 11:11

Classicline cover me with a huge list of mods - 121% power increase!

IIRC, the cost is about £250 - agreed value, salvage retention assured and 3,000 miles pa. Also includes trackday cover!

Re: 14 years with Adrian Flux - 16/10/2017 11:19

Adrian Flux are terrible, money grabbers. I am with Footman James and very happy. I also would not touch Swiftcover again. Saga is extortionate, double the cost!

Re: 14 years with Adrian Flux - 16/10/2017 16:56

Its strange this insurance malarkey i know everybody's circumstances are different but it must be due to being parked on the road as that seems to be the sticking point with most quotes!

Adrian Flux was the cheapest i could get with my criteria and agreed value

Never mind its done now for another year

Re: 14 years with Adrian Flux - 17/10/2017 11:49

Footman James would not insure me for business use. Can't really understand what difference it makes.

I guess you have to make sure all mods are covered and all details correct. If you ever have to make a claim and something is not in line, the Insurance Company will rub their hands with glee at the thought of wriggling out of payment.

Re: 14 years with Adrian Flux - 22/10/2017 14:12

I normally go through the online portals and was amazed that Saga ( blush) came up with £165 based on 2k value, 5k miles per year, parked in drive and NCD. There were a fair few mainstream companies not far behind around the £190 - £200 mark. It is a totally standard 16v which probably makes all the difference though.

I only managed £5K with Adrian Flux. They said they needed an independent report for any more. What evidence did you provide to get £7K?

Just submitted 12 photos and a list of work and modifications done with dates and prices
The value is what I asked for and not a suggestion by them, I do feel it’s about right too!

No agreed value. Fully comp. 3000m pa. Garaged. After cashback £78!

Re: 14 years with Adrian Flux - 04/11/2017 16:07

I want to have a conversation with Lancaster before I push the button, but currently quoting for 3000 miles, garaged, 114 quid. The conversation is to find out about agreed value... but the ERS quote was ridiculous.

Re: 14 years with Adrian Flux - 04/11/2017 16:43

I get the feeling ERS is dropping modded cars as would not touch me when they had for the past 3 years unless its to do with the decline in Glynwoods insurance?
Also ERS would not do guaranteed value as car parked on road, where as AF would!

Re: 14 years with Adrian Flux - 07/11/2017 17:56

I've gone with Lancaster - at 40% of the Glynwood quote - with... ERS. Go figure.
