330mm calipers and or radial mounts

Hi been keeping my eyes open for some Alfa gta 330mm calipers, not essential and not in a rush luckily, as they don't appear too often!
but the question is are there Radial mounts comercially available that bolt onto the 20vt mounts that would take a variety of radial mounted type brembos and if so apart from the discs being different would they just bolt on and sit in the correct place for new discs?
Would radial mounts open up a wider variety of suitable alternative brembos?

Has anybody done a guide on what's needed and how to for 330mm big brakes? As I could not find any old post like that

Serious question - why do you want bigger calipers? Set up correctly, with decent discs and good pads (plus good fluid and good brake lines), the standard Coupe brakes are capable of stopping the car repeatedly from absurd speeds.

My setup is probably a bit more extreme than most, but I can get the front tyres to squeal from over 150mph without locking up. At my last trackday, one of my plastic wheel centres melted and fell out....

The real key is heat dissipation - the Coupe wheelarch is quite confined and lacks airflow - putting bigger calipers and discs in there isn't going to help matters

Actually i did get a set of the holy grail alfa Brembos, but couldn't be bothered with the hassle so sold them on

What im after now, due to you Nigel! is the Fiat 500 Abarth discs that you sourced that are a direct fit, again mainly for aesthetics!

Ive just got a set through and talking to a supplier on a cheaper deal at the moment but they are very expensive unless you find a set of used centres then buy after market outers and bobbings etc

Brembo floating two-piece discs from the 595 Competizone and 695 Tributo Ferrari are currently available for £399 + VAT, plus about £20 P&P

They make a noticeable difference

So that's £502.80 inc P&P and VAT. I'm looking in Germany and have seen them for what I hope is £380 all in, which makes it pretty tempting...

What pads are you using Nigel? I know, I shouldn't be asking a "what brake pads" question, second only to "what oil"...

Oof! - £380 is a pretty good price

Still expensive compared to what I paid - I got them for £375 delivered, which included a set of Punto Abarth rear discs and Brembo front pads - by the time I'd sold these on, the front discs cost me a net £200 - should have bought more....

Actually, I'll elaborate on that statement - the discs are only bolt-on if you have aftermarket front hubs, which are slightly smaller than OE

Any info on what aftermarket hubs need to be purchased to fit and which part to measure to determine? is it the bore or the flange depth? im a bit confused now

Thanks Nigel, I am confuzzled too. As far as I can tell the OE discs and floating discs have the same 59mm hub "centering" diameter and all other critical dimensions look fine?

Edit: Ah I see, it's the OD of the hub flange at > 127mm that's the problem?

Yes - that was the main problem (other than the fact I originally used Punto floating discs with 4 x 100 and a 59mm center bore - the 500 discs have the correct 4 x 98 and a 58mm center bore)

So I am still confused. I took off a front brake disc tonight to look at the hub and steering knuckle behind. The OD of the hub flange looked to be 116mm measured from PCD 98mm plus 9mm to edge from centre of bolt hole, and this matches the OD shown for replacement hubs (sometimes 118mm). But this will easily fit inside the floating disc where the appropriate measurement is 127mm.

The only problem I could see would be if any part of the outer edge of the steering knuckle in which the hub sits would foul the back part of the floating disc? The closest point at which this could be a problem is near where the track rod end attaches, shown by the tape measure here and if the rear face of the disc is further back from the inner face that sits on the hub by more than around 32mm then I can see there might be a problem, but that assumes the "hole" for the hub is 118mm diameter whereas it is 127mm, so the rear face can sit further back than that. In fact the rear face of the floating disc is a maximum 10mm at 127mm diameter and 38mm at 193mm diameter.

In other words, I think it should indeed bolt straight on?

Dave - from memory, I reckon you have the smaller aftermarket hubs, so the floating discs will bolt on with no issues.

However, if you want to try, I have a spare pair of floating discs lying around - you’re welcome to borrow them for a trial fit (they can’t be used on the road though, as the discs themselves are knackered - I bought them for the centres)

I'd better check the other side too, but AFAIK the hubs are the original ones. A trial fit would be great, thanks, using MyHermes looks to cost a tenner, I will send a PM later.

Guys, I got used discs from Punto, do you know where I can buy outer runners etc for them?
