4wd conversion and shorter rear shock

4wd conversion and shorter rear shock - 23/09/2015 08:44

Hi All

Been a few years since I have been on the forum. Still have my coupe and about half way through my 4wd conversion, its turned into a huge restoration and major modification.

Due to the Q4 rear the rear track is about 60mm narrower than the 2wd track, I will be be running 9-10" wide rear wheels as they are now driven. I currently have the Osrav sport kit and eibach spring but the Osravs are almost a bit long and I could do with a shorter shock if possible. I'm having trouble cross referencing the bilstein catalogue to find a similar eye/eye type but shorter as the coupe unit is pretty short already.

It not much about 20-50mm shorter compressed I need, eye to eye down from 254mm OEM or so

Anyone got any ideas? riding at the height below I limit travel a bit more than I would like - hitting the stop early and dont want to move the upper mount if I can avoid it

Matey I Doff my Hat to you - 4wd Conversion (Lucky bugger) I'll do that when I either make a killing on some projects I'm working on- or lottery win or bank job. wink

Rear end looks phat though !!

Good luck on the quest to make it a 4wd slider.

Sounds like a punto/Uno may do it but am not sure on which one yet - till working on detail, need to find a catelogue to look in that has enough detail to be useful

Thanks - its a shed load of work to do it properly and still has issues such as fitting in a fuel tank somewhere if you want that OEM look (ie not a fuel cell in the boot) along with a whole group of other things

I know this is an old thread but would like to hear how this worked out..
fueltank from Delta HF LS is supposed to be a direct fit (fiat part 46405788) But never had it confirmed. Still available new around 400 quid.. Wouldnt coilsovers be the way to go to work out height problems?

I have coilovers on mine to get around the height issue and some fairly massive spacers to get around narrower track. At some point I'd like some staggered wheels (lower et at rear but same width).

I had a bespoke tank made to fit the boot floor and what's left of the spare wheel well.
