How much for my car? #1210520

So I've pretty much just got made redundant. I need some cash, and my car is using up a lot of that.

However its due for an MOT in two weeks and I can't afford to put it though.

Thats going to mean selling it will be a nightmare with no MOT.

How much do spares and repairs cars go for? Its a 98 turbo, bodywork isn't the best and the brakes squeal like a bitch, its not really going to be easy to sell.

Any ideas what to do or how much to sell it for? Advice appreciated. It needs to go soon though.

Sorry to hear about the job situation WM, and even worse news about the coupé. Just looking through the Coupés For Sale adverts will give you an idea of how low the value is going to be. For example, there is currently one up for sale at £300......ouch!

Yes, I agree with you, unfortunately, I think you'll struggle to get a lot of cash for the car frown

If you have the time & the space break it definitely

Just the Engine/turbo/interior/gearbox alone (if ok) would sell sepraratly for far more than you will get for the complete car with no MOT.

Although I'm having bodywork restoration on mine for the MOT to get it back on the road - I've already made up my mind my coupe will never be sold as a complete car again frown

when the day comes I will break it - as long as the demand for parts is still there obviously

I don't really have the time to break it, I'll be probably moving somewhere cheaper soon.

I don't have pics Steve, but I can list the issues with the car here (Lots of them)

The one plus point is I have a stage 1 hybrid from Power Italia, although its not been mapped so is running base boost.

Negative points:

* Large scratch, chips, 2 fist sized rust and and small dent s on bonnet
* Boot is dented
* Wing mirrors are peeling
* Various small chips and peeling in the paint on the rest of the car
* Alloys are quite badly scuffed on drivers side, but all 4 tyres are good.
* Interior is good apart from the centre console and a hole in the drivers side bolster.
* Possible fuel pump issue (I can sometimes hear it whining)
* Engine isn't too bad but can be a little rough on idle.

I try to be as honest as I can when it comes to selling cars so people know what they are getting.

it might be worth taking it for an mot to see what it would cost to get it through

if it cost say £200 to get it through you would surely get that back and more when you sell it rather than selling it without an mot as none of the problems you have listed are mechanical, they are all cosmetic
