I'm still not sure where to have to original meet up, need a venue that can easily accomodate 20-30 cars, is safe, and within 3/4 hour away from Milton Keynes,...suggestions?

Joe

Joe how about Leisure World. Got a large Car Park, Mcdonalds and tesco's petrol station to fill up ready

Karting?! Count me in please!

Probably not up for the Coop fun part unfortunately as I may not be using it that weekend and I'll be coming from the north.

Grand Prix event, 10 minute practice and then time trial for qualifying

Then a 40 minute sprint race, all cars out on the track at the same time

I though this event was £60 not £70?

Hi, I've checked with Daytona, it is definately £70 per driver at weekends.
They are sending me the bookign form, so I wil ldouble check again when it arrives

Hi Paul!, good to see you still around ,..well I'll be gettting the booking form early next week, and will then have to decide how much interest there is and what sort of race we will do.

For the Grand Prix event as above we need a minumum of 20 drivers ,and I don't want to be out of pocket, so we will have to see

Joe

Oh of course, weekends. Yeah that would be right then, premium rate... It's £60 during weekdays or evenings. Been to Daytona a few times. They've got a fairly consistent group of Karts at the moment - usually there's big differences in power and handling (twisted steering and even chassis!)

This is the Daddy of all karting, nothing comes close I it!

Looks like were going to have some competition if Graham is bringing along his son - probably half my weight

Right could all those who weigh less than 13.5 stone please make me aware - I may need to bring extra ballast for you all

Kevin
I wouldn't worry. He's a 13 yr old who thinks he's god's gift. Fancies himself as the next Paul Walker and still has a pic of a Skyline on his computer

Needs to be taken down a peg or 2

As long as I beat him I don't care who he beats

They're gonna give him a single-engined kart at 13 I would think, so I wouldn't worry

I think at 15 or under they've got to use the single engined jobs, over 15 you get the 'prokarts'. Its an insurance thing. However, simply lie about his age when you sign him in

I'll check next week, thought we would all have the same karts. I'll see if there is an age difference and then you can personally decide what age Stuart is

Let him enjoy while he can and feed him plenty of McSh!ts in the meantime...

Weight affects acceleration, braking and direction change (initial turn-in). 1 stone is probably good for half a second a lap at Daytona, but I guess he doesn't care about these stats.

*If* I ever find him infront of me, I'll be able to tell him straight away if he has any talent or not. Seen a lot of light people race Karts who think they are good, but in reality they just don't understand the dynamics. Which of course means they will be lacking a big part of the motor-racing skill set.

Graham just to let you know these karts are very fast and dangerous, not to put you off just more advice towards your son
