Hi guys

Im getting the coupe back together, and i need to replace the discs and pads all round. Ive heard that there can be problems with warping. Should i buy cheapish Apec type discs for £70 a pair, or some better Black Diamond grooved for £180 a pair? I know the cheaper ones in theory will be prone to warping but i suppose its a case of 2 sets are still cheaper than one set of half decent ones. Car will see maybe one trackday a year if lucky.

Pagid 20vt front discs from Eurocarparts, £82.70 for a pair using the 25% discount code "service25".

I used them with the Pagid pads at first and they squealed like hell, but with standard Fiat pads they are fine.

Or the same discs are £76.68 at carparts4less, if you can wait for delivery.

Just to note, I had a set of 16VT front MTEC discs that were drilled and grooved and they cracked very badly. Bad batch I dont know, just thought I would throw it out there. I would stick with just grooved from them in the future.

Thanks alot guys. Im tempted by Pagid. I wouldnt have drilled and grooved discs on a road car, the loss of brake force due to decreased clamp surface area would be ok if i desperately needed the added cooling but its a road car. Maybe 6 grooves at best for me personally.

Would these also fit a plus with the brembo calipers?

+1 for the MTEC's.

Bluey - MTEC can do clean discs without any drills, dimples or grooves just email them.

GrahamL - AFAIK, Pagids from ECP are their own brand not real Pagid for motorsports market.

mmarks - all 20VTs have the same Brembo calipers so yes they will fit.

I've been using Pagid discs (on Roger's recommendaton) with Pagid Grey RS15s for nearly a year and they've never squeal. They've also done a marvelous job of standing up to these pads when a lot of 'performance' discs do not... in my experience. Very impressed thumb

Just so you know "stock" discs are solid face Brembo discs on a VT / VT6 and drilled face Brembo on a plus / LE.

If you have the option of going stock then I would, although they are circa £300 a set for the drilled discs.

So to go decent over stock you'll be wanting 2 piece jobbies or try here. . Although by the sounds of it you'd be better off spending half that here . These will see you fine and with correct pads will be silent.

Hi Graham - are these the same ones:

http://www.carparts4less.co.uk/cp4l/c/Fi...b07a&000027

Now £42 - I'm thinking of them with the Ferodo DS2500 - anyone know if they'll be a 'squeal' issue?

Yes, those are the correct Pagid discs for the 20vt , but you'll need a pair so £84.72 , about the same as I paid from Eurocarparts years ago.

I have that combination and mine don't squeal 'all the time'. They do from time to time (if hot IIRC) but I've experienced much worse with other combinations other the years.

Thanks for the replies. Just to throw in another option I'm toying with......
Years ago I had a set of Textar front pads which I remember being the best pads I've ever had. I tried to get some more but could never find them. I've now found some for £84 but no idea if they're the same ones - but they are textar.

https://www.sparepartstore24.co.uk/1310921-textar

Textar also do discs at £59:

https://www.sparepartstore24.co.uk/7640385-textar

I'm thinking of gambling and getting textar discs and pads but it seems they're a bit of an unknown quantity on this forum - does anyone have any experience of these?

Not used Textar for years! They used to be decent enough but not seen them around for a good while.

If you do use Carparts4less there is a 13% off code till 9pm tonight (FLASH13) thumb

Textar are made by the same company as Mintex and Pagid

Textar rear pads were very popular on this forum a few years ago when there was no other choice for mildly uprated rear pads
